Hollywood execs entirely miss the point, accidentally green-lighting a big-screen adaptation of Alex's original Marble Hornets, with its gazebos, railway tracks, uncut grass and cheesy dialogue all intact. The cliché love story is panned by critics.

This is like asking "what if they made a Lost movie?" It's IMPOSSIBLE.

A Slenderman movie with references to MH could work but not a whole picture! The reason being the complexity of the mythology. There are too many elements to include to make the movie ever feel complete...

I think there are two routes they could take:

1) A clone of Paranormal Activity, in which someone "found" a bunch of tapes detailing the entire story and we see them play out.

2) A more traditional horror story shown in the third person.

I think the first one would be more likely, considering it would be sticking with the handheld camera theme (I know this is supposed to be about how badly hollywood would fuck MH up, but I'm actually thinking of the best way to handle this)

I'm thinking it would be similar to the series as we know it, but condensed a lot and without the Youtube/Twitter aspects.

The film would open with Jay talking to the camera, introducing himself and explaining that he's decided to investigate his friend's disappearance after watching the tapes he left. The story could then play out normally. I imagine Jay being the lazy reject who doesn't have any friends anymore and just stays in his shitty apartment all day.

Like I said before, the story would have to be condensed quite a bit to fit in a 2-hour movie. For example, Jay would probably only visit the house once. Also, instead of staying in hotels for months at a time (he can't realistically afford that anyway), he would sleep in his car. All the hotel entries would have to take place over one night.

For the sake of simplicity, less-important characters like Brian, Seth, and Sarah would be cut entirely. They'd probably go into less detail about Alex's film (I imagine Jay just briefly mentioning it; in fact, most of the early entries filmed by Alex would likely be removed. I think Jay would just play a few of the tapes on camera to let the audience get a glimpse of Slenderman)

If the hotel entries are condensed to one night, Jessica will probably be removed too. The plot of the movie would basically be "find tapes, discover Slenderman, set out to find Alex, get stalked by Tim and Slendy along the way, find Alex, help Alex find Amy, find out Alex is bad, team up with Tim to kill Alex".

The Operator would probably stay a mystery throughout the whole film, since I can't imagine them giving him a voice or personality. He might try to help Alex during the climax though.

The end of the movie would probably be Jay talking to the camera again, explaining that he's glad it's all over. Then we'd see the Operator in a window and the screen would glitch out, after which we're shown the obligatory "JAY WAS NEVER SEEN ALIVE AGAIN. HIS BODY WAS FOUND THREE DAYS LATER, IMPALED BY A TREE BRANCH 200 FEET IN THE AIR".

That'd be pretty neat actually
