Minecraft Mystery A little birdie told me about this Minecraft blog . There appears to be a mystery!
I bought Minecraft, but never got around to trying it out after I couldn't get it to work on the first try. Is there a way to find the place mentioned in the blog?

Eh, I don't play Minecraft myself, but my fiance really likes it. I'll see if he'd be interested in helping me out and I can relay that here. :/ So... semi-lurking, semi-playing.

well as a minecraft alpha player (i never played online, just an unlocked version for solo play) i know that each world is created at random when you start, with that version. I also know that there is a new version out, so the rules I am familiar with could have changed. I do not know if players online share a world or can just go visit others' world, like Spore. I do know that diamonds above the surface are not supposed to exist. It seems like it might have just been a lucky fluke, but the perfection of the inner chamber makes me wonder.
OOG: Perhaps we are dealing with someone who created this world and is using code from the game to put blocks of certain materials in certain places, I know that that is possible, but I do not know what we should be doing. I will keep an eye on his youtube to see if any vids come up, so far none are posted.
edit: i tried converting the numbers on the items in the chests from ascii thinking they might be a clue, but i have had no luck. thought there may be a phone number or a url... other than that, ive got nothing

Sadly, I tried to play it but always got the Java Machine error no matter what fix I used.

my Minecraft world today
Emphasis on the word my. Looks like this is a single player thing only, maybe the PM will get a multiplayer server up in the future as part of the interaction? Who knows.

Hey Varin, by "little birdy," do you mean someone actually sent you this link because they are saying HEY OMG POSSIBLE ARG THINGY HERE?
Because there are a veritable ton of Minecraft 'Let's Play' blogs, YouTube channels, etc. out there, with similar storytelling properties (do a Google search for Herobrine, which is one of the oldest, heh). On the surface, I would say this is just another one of those blogs where they're creating a narrative using the Minecraft sandbox.
Still cool, though. And I love people who make 'adventure' or 'survival' maps for people to play, with specific goals/achievements, and a bit of story to unfold as you explore the world they've made.
If this is indeed something more, I do wonder if there's an IP address to discover, so that you can connect to the server and find out more.

I'm a hardcore Minecraft player, both online and offline. I didn't read the blog yet, so I'm not sure if he's playing solo or online, but if it's solo, the only way to create the same world is to have it's "seed". It maybe a long garbled code or just simply any word.
If he's playing online, you'll need the server ip to play the same map.
Edit: He's playing offline

Just looks like someone took the Herobrine 'myth' (creepypasta) and decided to make a story about it.
EDIT: Still keeping an eye on it, because 1)I love Minecraft, and 2)something that proves me wrong (or at least adds to the interactivity and/or interesting-ness of it) may pop up.

Interesting!
I mean, Minecraft provides pretty nice area for ARGisch speculations, especially the offline single mode, where actually you are the only one, who can change the world. And if the world is changed just before you in a less random way - this could be eerie.
Actually [backnode to Puppetmasters], online multiplayer levels could be pretty cool for some trailheads.
Anyway, I'll follow that blog, even if I'm not really sure, whether it's just observations of some openminded player, who sees more in a game as just a game. I mean, if he will meet an artificial intelligence or something not programmed by Notch, this would mean: trailhead!
