Think questionable Lexi plus the Sparky in the group to quote video Evan "Things kind happen odd for New Jersey."

Look at the camera's timestamp.

It's only been running for a minute.

That means that someone had to have either put it there as Vinnie and Evan were talking, or it was activated as they were talking.

Oh, shit. Good catch!

The fight definitely just recently took place, I think the intro was a way of reminding us about Nick, so that we wouldn't then be freaking out about some mystery attacker who in actuality has already been introduced. Despite that, I still am having a hard time figuring out how he's relevant... what's the deal between him, Evan and HABIT?

I think the helping voice was definitely HABIT. He didn't want to lose his host (Evan) and knew he could easily dispose of Nick... and so he took over. The teleporting is interesting. That's definitely more of a Slender-feature, but with someone filming (you can clearly tell someone is actually standing there holding a camera) it feels too human and set-up. Who else, then? If HABIT was with Evan, who could be the culprit?
If you remember, back in July HABIT posted something on CANYOUSEETHEWORDS. It was a bit of a blog post from a guy named Nicholas, age 20. I could go into detail about the post, but it's relatively short so you can just read it yourself. http://canyouseethewords.tumblr.com/post/7866530774/a-little-ongoing-experiment-of-mine

Basically. This guy and his family is tortured until HABIT makes the guy watch as he murders everyone. HABIT had raped his mother in order to give birth to him (which I think can be said for Evan right?). HABIT further explains to 'Nicky' that he's going to make him into an animal, set to fight and kill another one of HABIT's experiments—presumably Evan.

That happened in this entry. So I guess to answer your post, both of them were inHABITed at some point during the fight.

And since Evan won, I guess that would make him HABIT's 'perfect shell' that he's been looking for.

More than that, there's another post on canyouseethewords from September, from another individual who was apparently investigating the Habit which seems to.. shed a lot of light on what it's doing and why. the highlights...

The Habit moves from person to person and can push them to human limits of physical ability and durability; it also has no regard for its host's wellbeing and will 'jump' to a new host when its current one is fatally injured

The Habit has some ability to bring out the worst in humans (possibly through music?) and cause them to harm themselves/others

Most importantly, the Habit is trying to make some kind of a perfect shell... my initial thought on that is it's basically running a Mortal Kombat tourney to forge the strongest possible shell (most likely Evan is his first choice) to inHabit permanently... (any other Supernatural fans reminded of the Sam as Lucifer's vessel plot arc? anyone?)

Also based on the CYSTW post, Slendy's been trucking around in Habit's bloody wake since at least 2004, though I don't think those two going way back together is much of a surprise at this point.

At the time that was posted, I posited whether Evan could also be spawned from HABIT himself, using a prior host, which is what Nick implied about himself on CYSTW. The idea that HABIT was trying to cull his offspring to see which was superior was picking at my brain. Now, I dunno, but it's worth a thought.

The real question is, where the fuck are they now?

The thing is, if HABIT was testing Nick and Evan to see which one would make the stronger host, wouldn't he leave both of them unpossessed? It wouldn't make much sense to possess one and kill the other with the possessed test subject, all that has proved is that a HABIT-possessed dude is capable of killing an unpossessed dude, something HABIT knows already. I'm going to say that the voice that asked to help was another iteration of Evan, either the Candleverse version or Dr. Corenthal's Evan. Also, I just can't see HABIT asking nicely if he can possess someone.

Strangely enough, this makes me trust Evan more and trust Vinnie less. Evan had absolutely no reason to report this to the other guys if he's really dangerously compromised as we've thought. Nick's body is up at Baldpate, no one saw what happened, Evan could have just claimed a fight at his martial arts class got out of hand or something to explain the injuries. Revealing the existence of the cameras also makes me suspect that they were not placed by HABIT, though I think it's likely that HABIT is releasing the footage. Steph is the other one I would suspect of leaking the footage.

Right now I think Vinnie was the one responsible for the cameras. It just seems odd that he knew exactly what kind of camera Evan was talking about and said things like "Oh, there's probably not that many of them."

The footage we saw showed Baldpate apparently during the day, or maybe that was just the lighting. From what little we saw I'm inclined to assume, however wrongly, that Evan and Nick fought during the evening. I think they were taken to the Candleverse (or whatever) to play things out - where Baldpate figures heavily - and then Evan was dropped back onto our plane of existence. So no, I don't think anyone's going to find Nick any time soon.

Well, I was thinking that the next content EMH dropped seriously needed to get the series back on track and the plot moving again, and the guys haven't disappointed. I'm officially interested again.

Hokay. Got the phone transcript here. It a goddamned doozy, so get ready. Also, I missed a few mumbles, so let me know if you heard something I didn't and I'll be sure to fix it right away.

    E: Hello?

    V: Hello, Evan?

    E: Sup, brother?

V: Evan, what the fuck is going on?

    -silence-

    V: Hello?

E: Yeah, Jeff didn't tell you?

V: Uh, no, he CALLED me, and told me that you sent Steph over to his place because shit was going down at yours.

E: Yeah, yeah, um...well uh, shit. I-I...don't know how to explain it, but uh...I guess I'll uh, I'll give you the brief story, um...do you remember Nick?

V: Heh, yeah Nick's pretty hard to forget, he's uh, built like a monster and as big as a house, yeah I remember Nick.

E: Fuckin' right he is, man...or he was.

V: Woah, what do you mean, 'he was?'

E: Uh...well, Nick, uh, Nick broke into my house tonight.

V: Holy shit. He broke in like "Hey, joking around," like we thought he did last time, or he like broke into your house?

    -silence-

E: Tried to kill me, man. He god damn near did it, too. Man, I'm about fucked up six ways to Sunday. (Unintelligible) probably broke...one, or two of my ribs. I don't know, hurts like a motherfucker, man.

V: Why the hell would he do that, man?

E: (Unintelligible) on my ass, man... What?

V: Why did he do that? Did he say anything--did he just come in and start wailing on you and leave?

E: Fuck if I know--yeah! He comes in here, sneaks into my god damn house. I'm just playing, uh, Splatterhouse, he sneaks in...my fuckin' stereo starts playing. I go over to turn it off, there he is, just beatin' my ass. Fucking whooped the shit out of me, back and forth across my own god damn basement.

    V: Jesus...

E: I mean, fucking...dude, looking at his fucking eyes...that shit wasn't right, dude, he was fucked up. And I kept asking him, I kept asking him, and...yeah, demanding that he tell me what the fuck he was doing, well--

-sound cuts out for five seconds-

E: Why, why he was there in my fucking house, beating the shit out of me... (unintelligible) He kept fuckin' smiling.

V: Alright well, you're safe now? He's gone?

    -silence-

    E: Uh... Hey, uh...he's dead.

V: What do you mean 'he's dead?' Did you do it?

    -silence-

    E: I-I don't know...I don't know! No, I--I didn't kill him, I didn't...I didn't want to kill him. I DIDN'T kill him!

    V: Alright, alright, alright--

E: I don't think it was real, though! I don't think it was--I don't think it was even real!

V: Well--Evan, calm down, tell me what happened.

E: (Interrupting) I mean, there we were, fighting in my basement--fighting in my fucking basement, man, and then--and then we're somewhere else. We're fuckin' somewhere else, so...fuck, dude. Fuckin' rift. So then--I mean, it couldn't have just been fake, right? It could have just been fake.

V: Yeah. You could have--Evan, you could have passed out. You could have blacked out, and...maybe you thought you killed him, and he just went away...

    E: Dunno, man.

V: I mean, if there's--there's no body, right? I mean, he's not there. Nick's not there with you. So he had to have gone somewhere.

E: ...I felt his neck crack. I felt it fuckin' snap, brother.

V: Oh man. Alright Evan, I know how you must feel.

E: (Interrupting) My fuckin' hands, Vinnie, it was MY fuckin' hands that did it!

    V: I know.

E: FUCK, and it FUCKIN' hurts, man.

V: I know, and I know how you must feel, but we gotta make sure that this actually happened. Wait, you said that you weren't in your basement. Where--where did you go? Where could you have gone?

E: (Stuttering) That tree. Y'know, (more stutturing) that fuckin' tree, up in that hiking trail,

V: Ohhh, the tree at Ballpate!

    E: Yeah, yeah, Ballpate.

V: How the hell did you get there?

E: I don't know, Vinnie. But, like...all I remember was, he had me up against the fuckin' wall, and he...I don't know, it was like...it was like fuckin' knocking. On the inside of my head. Something clawing. It was like--it was like saying, y'know, "let me help, let me help," y'know what I mean? it felt like that. "Let me help, we can take him," and then...

    V: Alright, Evan--

E: And then the next thing I know, is we're there, and I'm not me, I'm fuckin'... It was my hands, broke his neck.

V: Evan, Evan, it's gonna be okay, just calm down, take a couple deep breaths, I'm on my way. I'm about halfway to your house. We'll sit down, it'll be safe at your house, we can talk this out. We can get a little, uh, R&R, we'll work this out. Me and you, we're gonna get through this. Jeff's got Steph, we'll...he's protecting her, we'll take care of what's going on with you right now, 'kay?

    E: ...Thanks, man.

    V: No problem.

    E: I appreciate that.

    V: Now, is there anything--

E: Oh, uh, one more thing.

    V: Oh, what's up?

E: --know if I've mentioned this, but uh...after the little scuffle, I walked around a little bit. Dazed and confused, and I think (unintelligible) a little bleeding. And, uh, I noticed on the ground--little camera, that I know damn sure, I didn't put it there. Wasn't one of ours.

    V: Alright.

E: He didn't--well, I'm pretty sure he didn't bring a fuckin' camera with him.

    V: Shit.

E: And there it was, lying on the ground. And you know what it looked like?

    V: What?

E: Like, tiny little--tiny little black fuckin' camera, little antenna stickin' out of it.

    V: Oh man.

E: S'probably the size of my thumb.

V: Evan, I think what you've got, right now, is what we call a pinhole camera. And that means that someone, or something, or a fucking combination of the two, is watching you, or us. Because those things, as you said, had an antenna on it?

    E: Yeah.

V: That means that someone is recording it from somewhere. So...fuck. How many did you find?

E: Well, I'm looking at one right now.

V: Alright, so you've got two? Alright, well, what we'll do it, when I come over, we'll look for more. I mean, I can't imagine that there'd be many more, but we'll come look. And then we'll have to scour my house and Jeff's house. But Evan? We're gonna get through this, okay? I promise.

    E: Thanks.

V: We're gonna keep going, we're gonna keep pushin', we're gonna make it through.

    E: Yeah, you're right.

V: Alright, I'm on my way. Be there in a minute.

    E: See you soon, brother.

V: Alright. Try and, uh, try and sit down and get some rest, okay?

    E: Yeah (laughs)

V: I know. I know it's hard, but just try.

First of all--Thank you "The Kempest" for taking the time to write and post this transcript--I tend to lose a lot in the dialogue because I don't hear as well as I used to,so this makes a big difference when it comes to trying to understand just what's going on in their videos.

Having said that--now--HOLY JEEBUS!! Shocked
I also have to agree with whoever mentioned that this video now casts some questions about Vinnie--it was very odd/creepy how he was talking to Evan.I realize that he knew on some level he had to keep Evan as calm as possible--but the eerie factor BEYOND that really begs the question where Vinne fits and figures in all this and how much we might STILL not know at this point.

I noted the two second time variation and there is no part of me that thinks that being shown was innocuous or an 'accident'.The purple tape was also a nice touch Smile

I see that as part of the test for the perfect host -- suggestibility is an important trait to any host that HABIT will take over. It needs to be someone who gives in when HABIT wants -- heck, maybe this was even to build trust with Evan so that the next time that "helpful voice" says "here, let me help you", he'll just say "thanks."

1) Oh my god, new video ON MY BIRTHDAY thank you so much guys! <3

2) This video has not left me feeling well. I don't know if I can finish my breakfast. Oh dear. Too bad you can't put trigger warnings on a horror series.

3) If it sounds like Vince is Evan's handler, it's because he is. I've had an idea knocking around my head that Vince has been in on it from the beginning and this really just confirmed it for me.

He's way too calm for this kind of news. It sounds more like that horrible thing he's been hoping won't happen has happened; he knew. He fucking knew.

He's been manipulating his friends (especially Jeff) into action since the first hidden video. Listen to what he's saying to Evan: he gets the story out of him, keeps him calm, and in doing so constructs a scenario around Evan where he's the only lifeline. By emphasizing Jeff's duty of protecting Evan's girlfriend, he keeps himself and Evan as the only actors in the scenario. On the one hand it's understandable not to want Steph there since Evan took all that trouble to send her away, but when you have a crisis like this going down than the first thing you want to do is round up the troops.

As far as we know, that doesn't happen. Evan is alone with Vince, trusting, and vulnerable. What did Vinnie plant in his head during that conversation?
(You couldn't have posted that too, HABIT? Lazy fuck.)

4) I agree that HABIT wasn't the one talking in Evan's head. At first that's what I thought too, but then I realized it was just too easy -- what's the point of testing them? HABIT can use them both effectively, he needed to see how they fared against each other.

I like the idea that it's the archetype from Candle Cove. Evan's ghost was whispering to him, and when he couldn't kill a man, it took over. (I find the humanity of the inhabitants of Candle Cove to be debatable.) I wonder if that too was breaking the rules? They can't seek outside help, so is interference allowed?

I'm thinking of that This is All a Game theory, the one that the archetypes are going through this as players with Xbox controllers from the astral plane: if Evan dies in this iteration, than it's Game Over for CC!Evan and CC!Vince and CC!Jeff will be down a man on their team. They can't let happen, winning is too important.

So, it doesn't look like anyone pointed this out - the audio appears to be recorded from Vince's end, with Evan's portion either being over the phone or from the surveilance footage.

Supports the whole "Vinnie is the voyeur" line of theories...

It WAS Vinnie.
"The VOYEUR shall remain idle to all who see, however busy he may be beneath."
Remember how they found Vinnie's phone in Alex's closet... right after that surveillance footage was sent to Evan. They searched for the cameras then and didn't find any... it's likely Vin removed them before Evan investigated.

Oh Christ I completely missed that.

It's possible though that HABIT installed a microphone in his car or something.

The audio's definitely being recorded from Vinnie's car. I have half a mind to assume Jeff's there with him, which is why partway through it sounds like he puts the speakerphone on.

The other thing to note is Nick seems to be inHABITed when he comes in to kill Evan, remembering the talk about "that look in his eyes" and such. So maybe the real test for Evan was how long he could hold out, and when even being held up by the neck wasn't enough to put him out, HABIT decided to jump hosts, take out Nick in a safe place, and then bring Evan back and leave, having finally ascertained that Evan is the baddest motherfucker in the world by having won the Rape Baby Death Olympics (love that phrase, Qaqa).

Also, the opening and the title definitely go together, Noah and the players are outside help trying to disrupt "the game". In fact, this isn't the first time we got up to exactly that, remember "TILT"? I half expected this sort of thing to happen that time.

The idea that "Outside help" refers to HABIT's role in the death match is interesting too, though. Could be a double meaning.
