Good - Nile Rogers, Actual Composers, Breaking Benjamin
Bad - Hoobastank, Incubus, Other Crappy Bands

BIG GROPING UPDATE!
I've put up Glassed Earth, which is the main body of my ILB Theme. It's just the basic piano parts right now with nothing fancy added in, so expect more. I just wanted to get this up so I could let you all know that I'm not being completely lazy.

only thing that sucks on soundclick is having to register. sigh. should be interesting listen, though, along with your other music.

mystuff gets a tad too wierd sometimes. got a CD out which has this habit of giving people nightmares. But then, it was written for Halloween Smile

Axonical

I found this song on a site dedicated to remixing the old Marathon midi files used in the game.

It's a song dedicated to I love bees, "Phasmida Elegans" by Craig Hardgrove.

Enjoy, I hope! Very Happy

Get your mp3's hippie!

Hey everyone, I made another ILB related piece that you may or may not enjoy. Thanks for the shoutout about Phasmidia, Luke P.!

You can pick it up here: http://www.eigenhat.com/axonical.mp3

After coming back from yet another non-ringing payphone, even after I submitted it and it was approved, I needed to do something to let out my frustration. Music has always been there for me, and since ILB was on the brain, this piece was certainly, once again, inspired by it. I tried to make the references a little more obvious in this one than I did in Phasmidia. I hope you enjoy.

you can pick up both phasmidia and axonical or if you're into marathon you can get the original soundtrack and some remakes at my website:

Thanks!

Nice work here with your ambient materials, and you seem to know the golden rule of recording percussion: reverb.

Good stuff, tycho.

(It's not from the leaked pirate's booty)

Hey everyone,
I'm happy to see other people have had the idea of creating ILB-themed music.
Perhaps you all won't mind if I point you to this topic: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7347

I was thinking of creating my own ILB-themes song, and was reminded of my days on TraxInSpace, with its themed composition contests, and I figure, why not. Give it a look.

I like a lot of suggestions in this thread, but I have to chime in with "Flight of the Bumblebee". I mean, come on! Wink

Here's a link, just cause:

(yeah, it's real media, I know...)

Sorry if this is slightly trouty or OT, but I hadn't seen a tracklist posted anywhere on the boards, and it's quite difficult to find anywhere else atm. I had this on another, wholly unrelated thread and was recommended that I move it here.

There will indeed be a retail soundtrack for Halo 2, to be released on the same day as the game. It includes music by Breaking Benjamin, Hoobastank, and - I kid you not - a four-part, apparently orchestral, themed work by Incubus. Symphonic stuff written by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori; producer is Nile Rodgers. Apparently Steve Vai is in there too somewhere.

Tracklist:
1. Halo Theme (Mjölnir Mix)
2. "Blow Me Away", Breaking Benjamin
3. Peril
4. Ghosts Of Reach
5. "Follow (1 st Movement of the Odyssey)", Incubus
6. Heretic, Hero
7. Flawed Legacy
8. Impend
9. "Never Surrender", Nile Rodgers & Nataraj
10. Ancient Machine
11. "The Odyssey (2 nd Movement)", Incubus
12. In Amber Clad
13. The Last Spartan
14. Orbit of Glass
15. "The Odyssey (3 rd Movement)", Incubus
16. Heavy Price Paid
17. Earth City
18. High Charity
19. "The Odyssey (4 th Movement)", Incubus
20. Remembrance
21. "Connected", Hoobastank

There is rumour there will be 2 Halo 2 soundtracks... when they announced they were going slightly mainstream with the 1st soundtrack, there was a big uproar - because it would ruin the classic essence and quality of Marty's orchestration like the first game had... Marty understands that. So the first album is the "inspired by" album, like movie soundtracks, with mainstream artists doing their music, but all the music for H2 is going through Marty first... so, some of the music I'm assuming is from the game, while the rest is inspired... in other words - Mjolnir mix isn't the 'official Halo 2 theme', it's an inspired mix...

I'd eventually keep an eye open for the original soundtrack from Halo 2 shortly after the game...

man, inspirational soundtracks really irk me. It's not really a soundtrack! It's a mix of songs from the original movie/game... a real soundtrack contains audio from or music from the actual source... stupid mainstream media trying to get piece of the soundtrack profit... Evil or Very Mad I've been tricked by that, purchasing a few soundtracks before I learned, that were actually mixes, not instrumental music from the movies... ah well...

so ya, don't expect all the music on this first album to be from in-game Halo 2
