drseuss, I like it alot. The face lift with electric guitars is quite nice. I hope there is a soundtrack CD that comes out at time of game launch.

There will be. Including music by Breaking Benjamin, Hoobastank, and - I kid you not - a four-part, apparently orchestral themed work by Incubus. Symphonic stuff written by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori; producer is Nile Rodgers. Steve Vai is apparently in there too.

Tracklist here.

Its OT but the soundtrack will come out november 9th as well. It has several known artists on it, including bands like hoobastank and incubus. I believe it is Steve Vai who does the electric guitar. Vai is one of the best to ever play. Check out the info.

we stray way off topic here and should move any more music discussion to another thread, so apologies for contributing to the rabbit trail to those not interested in the music... my last comment here to that effect. Vai seems the most appropriate choice, though he is not one of my personal favs.

edit/ perhaps this is a better thread: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6573

Done deal. So, to get back OT, did anyone else feel slightly uncomfortable shouting "REACH!" into a phone in a crowded public place? I definitely got some giggles off that one.

Lucky for me, the call to my cel phone came at a time where we usually go out on break...

"Reach.... Reach... Reach... Reach! REACH! . . . . . Heh.... Repeat. . . . Continue..." *hangs up the phone*

"What?"

XD I've been listening to some of the remixes too much. One of my friends ended a sentence with "survive", and it took all my will to resist screaming out at the top of my lungs "EVADE, RESIST, ESCAPE!!!" then smiling and walking off before they decide to send me to the funny-farm. Also - try working in quotes into conversations. It's fun.

A digital librarian? Is that like a regular librarian, just with more internet? Or are you like one of those Google Answers guys who is really, really good at finding things?

Yeah it's sort of a normal librarian, only modernized for the digital age. I hope to drag the profession, kicking and screaming if necessary, up to date. Plus I'm male and 90% of the profession is female. I like those odds Wink

hmmm.... first a mention of ILB by Neal Stephenson (and the fact that he knows the PM's) and now this....... people don't ever get mad that you have the eerie habit of walking up behind them without making a noise do they?

Oh I didn't know Stephenson mentioned it anywhere, that's kinda cool. And I have been called sneaky now and then...

And back to (somewhat related) on topic stuff:

I embarassed myself today when I started thinking of how to classify all these audio recordings and other such data accumulated from the game, how to organize it, etc. Too much class work for me...

So now you know why i chose my rank

I've snuck lots of ILB talk into daily conversations. People give me the strangest looks.

In my English course, we're studying Beowulf's use of kenning - two-word metaphors, basically. Our teacher had us make kenning names for ourselves to use for the duration of our Beowulf reading.

I, of course, instantly chose "bee-keeper". I resisted mentioning obscure references, though I think I'm going to sneak in "!reveal truth" or "AXONS GO HOT" somewhere on my name tag.

Nobody understands it, and all I can really tell them is "long story'.

We also had to wear Viking hats while we read - I wore a beekeeper's straw hat instead. Very Happy

Viking hats!? Here's hoping you live in Minnesota... in my book, it's okay to wear funny hats for sports, and it's encouraged for bees, but it's kind of overboard for ancient literature. Razz

No, no, no, no, NO. How many times do I have to tell people this? (Okay, I guess this is the first in the forums.) Whenever you have the chance, you must use "AXONS ARE HOT, AND SO AM I." You must. There is no negotiation.

You're probably a guy, hmm, so a little tank top would look ridiculous on you. If you're a girl, however, that's your assignment. They have them at CafePress. Although, it is sort of cold for the little tank tops. Hmm. Mayhap you should stick with putting it on the name tag. (And where do you go to school that they make you wear name tags?)

Now, repeat after me: AXONS ARE HOT, AND SO AM I.

Go, and sin no more.

How could you NOT mention that "Beowulf" means, literally "bee-wolf" and is itself probably a kenning for "bear," since bears seek honey and are, therefore, like wolves to bees, or something?
