I also received the second email with the numbers 1-4 & the attached upward-pointing arrow. I'm pretty sure this is the four forces of flight; Lift, Weight, Thrust & Drag. I am not positive that is the correct order or not though.
How this applies to the PW for the second locked post I'm not sure. I've tried at least a dozen passwords so far with no success.

THANKS, LeHommeSuspendu, your hint was mega useful. Am placing PW #1 in spoilers below which we generally do with solves.
PW for Locked #1
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Lilienthal

Anyone making any headway on the 2nd locked post? I've tried probably 3 dozen PWs with no luck.

I've tried about as many with as much luck as you. I've been looking through all the posts and info on The End is the Beginning and googling any related term I can think of hoping to come up with possible PWs.
Since I only see the dots when I type in potential PWs, I wonder about the possibility that I've made a typo while entering what would have been the correct PW.

I know exactly what you mean. I ended up opening a doc & typing all the passwords out in it & then C&P'ing them into the PW field.
I'm positive that the PW is related to the 4 forces of flight: Lift, Thrust, Drag & Weight (also referred to as Gravity in some places, but it seems to be called Weight primarily).
Since the first clue we got was an Up arrow, I figure that's Lift. I tried all the permutations of LiftWeightThrustDrag, as well as subbing Gravity in for Weight. It was only a dozen so it didn't take any time, but none of them did the trick.
On a side note, you did see the Tweet about PW's being case-sensitive, correct?

I did see the tweet about the case-sensitive PWs. I wish I would have thought to type all my PW ideas into a word doc first then C&Ping though.
I tried different forms of lift, aerodynamic(s), Bernoulli, Euler, airfoil(s), flight, Wright, Orville, Wilbur, Kitty Hawk, Dayton, camber. Because of the arrow in the email, I tried arrow and arrowdynamics just in case it indicated some wordplay. I also tried Icarus and Daedalus since museumgirlll said she like mythologizing.
In my searches I noticed the images with the arrows with the forces of flight and made the connection to the second email but didn't try each as a PW. Since you already have, I won't.

Since the first part of the clue reads like a flight text book I have also been trying passwords based on the history of aerodynamics with no luck.
From the second clue, I wonder if we will get three more pictures and the password will be the vector sum of all the arrows.

I'd be willing to bet that the PW is somewhere in here - http://www.americanflyers.net/aviationlibrary/pilots_handbook/chapter_1.htm
I went ahead & bookmarked that site because I have a feeling it might come in handy for more puzzles.
I see that we've tried a lot of the same passwords.
I'm a little surprised that we haven't gotten at least another email clue by this point. Hopefully we'll get some kind of a nudge soon that will generate some more possible PWs.

That's some handbook! Maybe we'll end up with our pilots licenses at the end.

I cracked the first one without the spoiler. I'll try lockbox 2 later. Guess I'm playing in this one, yay!

Trying the wordplay angle
Shape of a wing = planform
Angle of attack also known as AOA represented by the greek symbol alpha.

Yep, already tried "Planform" as a PW. The words "Alpha", "AlphaPlanform" & "AlphaFlight" are also not the correct PW.

Stumbled across this forum and thought I'd join in ... I'm totally new to this and I'm not great at puzzles but what the heck. Followed Lisa on Twitter...
