OK, totally missed that. Got hung up on variations on Destination Moon.
*Edit*
Since all the models represent key stages of manned flight the missing model is likely to be very early or next generation. Have tried the passwords

Arrggh. After other similar guesses failed I thought I was on the wrong path with #4.
For locked post #5, do you think it could be a pilot of a lost aircraft? I've tried, with no luck:

I think we're all pretty much stumped on #5. Without a little more info to go on we're basically grasping at straws.
It also doesn't help that Lisa Lambert seems to have forgotten about us. I've emailed her & sent a tweet but have heard ZERO back from her in about 5 days.

No luck here. I was thinking the missing model might be SpaceShipOne, an X-15. Would have fit between the start of Yeager's Bell-X and now onto commercial space flight. But, no go. As for the pilot, I was going with the first guy Mike Melvill (a test pilot) but tried all of them.

The site has been quiet for a while.

Still nothing new…
Over the past couple of days I've tried names of missing pilots, Russian pilots, and types of pilots (amateur, student, commercial, etc.). Then I thought to the future of the models LL has listed and went with NASA's unmanned Voyager spacecraft and put in versions of Deep Space Network, computer command, etc. Then went to sci fi and thought maybe her parents had a model of the Star Trek Enterprise. Didn't find anything that worked with this either.
Maybe museumgirlll was abducted.

Tried most of the names I could find associated with Smithsonian milestones of flight list.

No luck.
I take it Lisa knows which model is missing.
Or is the answer more abstract.

Answer is in the spoiler tags. The model is a space craft, and goes in between some of the other models in terms of time period.
I'll let someone else send the e-mail seeing as I am just joining this one and have not talked to Lisa before.

Not sure if the page has been edited since you figured it out, but now the contents say
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Clue to Locked #6: One of The Seven, but didn't fly until 51.
which can't be used yet since there is no locked #6 but for the record I'm going to go ahead and say the next answer is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
gusgrissom
sidenote: Lisa opened the Jan 20th envelope early, but now that date has passed and she hasn't posted the contents of the thumb drive...wonder what's going on
edit: gonna go ahead and leave my initial thoughts intact but I now believe the next password is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
dekeslayton since I was interpreting 51 as the year and not the person's age

So given the phrasing of the clue
Quote:
Who would be the pilot of the missing model
Is the missing model something he flew or something he would have flown if he had been able?
