I hate that tracking system... very confusing... and we'd get different answers! haha, I remember spending quite some time for that.

So has anyone contacted LAINSY about this? And any message from skyfall? Or Genus? Things seem so quiet recently....

I asked Skyfall about the "dangerous inter-galactic criminal" last week and got this response, but got busy and couldn't post it until now (sorry!!!!):
Quote:
Well, this criminal has been known for ages for misuse of the Jhuku. Since cycle six, this criminal has been attempting, and sometimes has been successful, in locating the Jhuku and extracting information about past cycles. Through this, it makes him near impossible to defeat and avoid. Thankfully by design of the Jhuku, it is easier to escape this criminal and make it hard for him to extract information for each Jhuku.

It is highly mandatory that the Jhuku be retrieved for the safety of everyone and to assure that the reason why the Jhuku was made in the first place be guaranteed to be accomplished.

As long as the Jhuku is away from this criminal, Oriru Serku will mandate the Jhuku's safety. Also, be advised that the Oriru Serku does not physically exist in this point in time. However, they have sent me back in time to assist in this issue. Thankfully, the timing of early release of DSN allows the Oriru Serku to have access to Whisppher technology allowing inter-EOS communication.

The criminal will be handled by another of our agent in the future once Afyg has been returned to it's original timeline. Current technologies in this time prevent us from being able to handle him properly and may just provoke him to escape or even worse attack other inter-galactic civilizations while they are still much vulnerable.
It probably doesn't help too much, though.

Perhaps not for current progression, but who knows if this info will become relevant in the future. Also, i luff fluff! <3

EDIT: I wasn't sure if godder already sent in the coordinates, but I emailed them to LAINSY just in case.

I also sent the coordinates to Ruby, and it replied:
Quote:
RESPONSE: I have sent a scout probe to inspect the coordinates provided and it found nothing.

I sent the coordinates: 15.3888922, 1.11110778, 7.6111068 -- are these wrong?

I received the same response for the same coordinates, so I think so.

After reading the OOG's explanation of the STS, I also found this, which I didn't take into account during the earlier calculation.

Quote:
when we speak of lowest value, all coordinates must be present. You will only proceed to next step only if you have done all the axis. Comparing the coordinates to see which is lowest requires that you have to look at all the axis in use.

e.g. (10, 8 ) versus (-2, 9), you do not just compare 10 and -2. You will have to consider also the other axis, to determine which is lower. Of course, we are speaking of absolute value thus, -2 is actually 2. So to determine which is closer, you'll have to compute for the hypotenuse of the coordinate from the origin (0, 0).

This is the first time I've sat down and calculated this, so I could be wrong, and I want to check my answer with you guys.

I think the lowest 3 coordinates are: (-2,5,-9) (10,-9,20) (-34,5,10) based on my (probably incorrect!!) assumption that "lowest" means shortest distance to the origin (0,0,0). And my short memory of math would just mean that if I were to take the square root of x 2 +y 2 +z 2 , that's the distance from the origin. Yes/no?

Then it's a matter of averaging the values by axis:
Average of 3 lowest coordinates (M): 15.3333, 6.3333, 13
Average of M + (56,3,23) and (71,0,1) (N): 47.4444, 3.1111, 12.3333
Average of M + N: 31.38888, 4.72222, 12.6666

Please let me know if I'm missing something!

Cursing Bang Head And this is why I do not really want this cipher.... So, I wonder who's in that location, or what?

EDIT : I just made a formula for calculating the "lowest value"... It's basically calculating the distance from the origin to the coordinates

d = sqrt((sqrt(|x|^2 + |y|^2) + |z|^2)

we do that for each coordinates, and see which has lowest value...

56,3,23 = 24.1884331772697
-2,5,-9 = 9.2943619903216
10,-9,20 = 20.3335590600139
71,0,1 = 8.4852813742386
-34,5,10 = 11.5916211357549

therefore,

71+(-2)+(-34) = 35 / 3 = 11.66666666666667
11.66666666666667+10+56 = 77.66666666666667 / 3 = 25.88888888888889
25.88888888888889 + 11.66666666666667 = 37.55555555555556 / 2 = 18.77777777777778
so, x axis = 18.77777777777778

0+5+5= 10 / 3 = 3.333333333333333
3.333333333333333+(-9)+3 = -2.666666666666667 / 3 = -0.8888888888888889
(-0.8888888888888889)+3.333333333333333 = 2.444444444444444 / 2 = 1.222222222222222
so, y axis = 1.222222222222222

1+(-9)+10 = 2 / 3 = 0.6666666666666667
0.6666666666666667+20+23 = 43.66666666666667 / 3 = 14.55555555555556
14.55555555555556+0.6666666666666667 = 15.22222222222222 / 2 = 7.611111111111111
so, z axis = 15.22222222222222

so, final coordinates are (18.77777777777778, 1.222222222222222, 15.22222222222222)
or (18.778, 1.222, 15.222)

Anyone want to double check? haha

Crap! I don't know. This cipher drives me crazy. I really don't have time to mess with it again right now. Maybe you guys have it now though.

@posse: If you performed the calculations for x, y, and z with their absolute values, I think the calculations work out. However, from what I understand of Genus' explanation of STS (which does not amount to much since STS still confuses me), I thought the calculations are to be performed while taking into account the number's positive/negative value. What was your take on it?

@zeighy: How did you derive your distance formula? Here's the one I used:
Quote:
d = sqrt[ sqrt( x 2 +y 2 ) 2 +z 2 ] = sqrt( x 2 +y 2 +z 2 )

I can't exactly explain on words... I'm trying to draw it, but my drawing skills fail at me.... but, just think of it as calculating vectors....... instead this vector is in 3d space, instead of the usual 2d vectors..... so we need to calculate the length of the vector from 0,0,0 to where ever each coordinate is...

ah shoot, now that I'm looking at the difference of yours and mine, your is the CORRECT one... hah! I missed out on putting a square on the sqrt(x^2 + y^2)

In case anyone wanted to check how they are computing STS, here are the coordinates and final location used to find Emily.
Quote:
Coordinates
0.0, 25.00
-17.7822, -49.1234
63.9850, -22.0652
51.5355, -108.0094
65.34, 97.2

Final Location
29.75, -12.07

Ha ha, you guys are so close. I sent my answer ahead already:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
15.388888, 0.722222, 8.666666

Hopefully I didn't goof either, but I'm sure I did it correctly Smile

Edit--Actually, only godder was reasonably close, moreso on his first try. Razz
