Let's Talk about Marble Hornets' Proxies "You will take me to the ark." There are just so many conflicting opinions about proxies in Marble Hornets. Some people believe that Masky and Hoodie are proxies, but Entry #45 suggests that they had run from the Operator. Hoodie helped Jay by returning his camera to his car. Totheark is obviously the series' proxy, but it is unclear as to who runs the channel. Masky appears in some of the channel's videos, but it's still not made perfectly clear as to WHO's side he's on. Masky saves Jay and Jessica in Entry #52, and yet ATTACKS Jay in Entry #33. Alex is the most-guessed-at proxy in the series, mainly because he killed and injured many people, and has been seen with the Operator several times throughout season 2. And if it's true that Masky and Hoodie fled after attempting to kill Alex and seeing the Operator, that would suggest that the Operator came to his aid. From what's been seen, Hoodie and Masky are on Jay's side, but not Alex's. So are they proxies....?
Whether it's true or not, I have no idea. Thoughts?

Marble Hornets predates the concept of "proxies" in the Slender Man collective. I don't think there is one.
At best, you could say that Alex does the Operator's "bidding" (whatever that may be) and Tim!Masky may or may not be working for him (the Operator, that is).

Well, a "proxy" in general, outside the Operator's universe, is still a link or connection. Alex is most likely a middleman for the Operator to do his bidding, but Masky... I mean, it goes against Alex being one, because they've attacked each other multiple times.

I think of the Operator's effect on people as being similar to Mass Effect's Reaper indoctrination: The more influence it exherts over people, the more control the Operator has, the tradeoff being the gradual destruction of the target's mind. I think that Tim and the hooded man (who I believe run the totheark channel together) were acting on behalf of the Operator at some point, but as their minds degraded, they were eventually discarded and replaced with Alex. That would explain their odd behavior and agression towards him.

You know, that makes a lot of sense. It fits that, by the end of the second season, Tim saved Jay and Jessica from Alex. Him and Hoody were probably so bitter towards the Operator that they were willing to go against their former "master". It makes me excited to see, hopefully, if Jay starts working with Masky and Hoodie in Season 3 to take down Alex. I mean, Jay has been following Tim since Entry #52, and has been constantly posting about looking for him on Twitter. I'm hoping for some kind of allegiance. I don't know about anyone else, but... yeah. It'd be cool to me at least.

Would be cool if Jay could form some kind of alliance, assuming Tim is still rational enough to do something like that. He can at least pantomime a normal life, clearly, but who knows how superficial it may be. Still not sure how much of Alex's behavior is actually his fault. His actions even within a few months of each other don't match up, and his motives remain a mystery. I'm not convinced he's done what he's done of his own free will, and maybe he can even be saved. Assuming Tim didn't actually kill him.

Possible, but the cast isn't all that big as it is. Kinda hoping totheark isn't just the whole cast minus Jay and Alex wearing masks and making creepy vids. Approached the introduction of the hooded guy with cautious optimism.

Well, to speculate further about all this, I think that there's just two people that run totheark: Masky and Hoody. Masky is Tim. Since we've never seen Hoody's face, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Hoody is Brian. I mean, in Entry #51, Brian finds Tim coughing and scared, and both are confronted by the Operator. This makes me think that they teamed up as the Operator's "minions" after that confrontation, and Alex had pulled the strings to do so. But that doesn't explain how Hoody would bring Jay's camera to his car after he dropped it... Everything seems to be contradicting each other, and at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Jay became a proxy himself.

I like the idea that Slendy's influence is like that of the Reapers from Mass Effect. However, from Entry 53, Tim seems very collected and in a decent state of mind. He may just be acting like he doesn't remember, but he most likely lost his memory from some kind of incident. There's also the theory about Tim and Masky being two separate personalities.

I hadn't considered that possibility, that maybe Tim lost his memory like Jay some time after the last season 2 totheark vid was posted. That would certainly explain things.
