Free forum services?
With good privacy options?

I need to set up a dummy forum that would be accessible to followers, but that would be private except to members so that I don't have to backlog an entire civilization (and believe me, this forum would ostensibly be an entire society's interactions for 20-ish years).

Essentially, the strategy here is to have a private forum. For free. That I could just leave as a homepage and ignore requests to join.

I promise it's important for storyline purposes.

Any ideas, my fellow (and far more talented) PMs?

Proboards works, you go to the admin sections and "modify boards" or "modify settings" and you can make it so only members can join but that they don't need an account approved by the admin, or set it up so that the only ones who can post or read boards is the registered members, it's more playing with the settings to get what you want... Useful and pretty user-friendly though.
