 		The original Rake creepypasta is pretty damn good, but written in a very different style to the Slenderman pastas that eventually lead to the creation of things like Marble Hornets and Tribe Twelve. Whereas the Rake's story is a bit cobbled together out of really mysterious and creepy accounts of his attacks, the Slenderman pastas were generally single shots of fairly coherent creep.

The really interesting thing is that, by that standard, Marble Hornets and Tribe Twelve are definitely descended from the Slenderman stories, but EverymanHYBRID was clearly more in the style of the Rake story. I always found that interesting.

I highly disagree with this. The Rake is very straight forward in his original mythos. Any extra "mysteriousness" people give him is making their own version of The Rake. Which, there's nothing wrong with that, but you really can't do much with a murdering psychopathic monster. He's scary in the way a Tank from L4D is scary.


I'm sorry, but this had me hardcore LOL'ing! I'm pretty sure Wes Craven, Victor Miller, and John Carpenter would seriously disagree with you on this one.

It's not that it can't be done, it's whether or not it should be done imho. The original creepypasta was good, and EMH does a great job intertwining many of the creepypasta stories into their story, including the Rake. Whoever pointed out that the costuming would be a nightmare also was spot on. It's got to be hard enough getting whoever is playing that thing in EMH into costume, let alone going out and having to film looking like that in public places. It's just not practical. I can't imagine any creator ever having to ask someone if they'd be interested in getting 3/4 naked and being put on film walking around on all fours because the interwebz is going to make them famous. I know how bad that came out and it would sound just as ludicrous I'm sure to any potential actors.

 		the creation of the rake itself isn't that hard, really.

you just need a morphsuit and a bunch of clay, or a well constructed mask. Clay is how EMH do it (I think that's what they told me...it was a while ago xD)

 		I think the problem with the costume is the main part. I mean, you could do a Slendy vlog with a white towel and an all black costume if you make the Slendy shots quick/blurry enough. With the Rake, you kind of need to see him a bit clearly to get across what's so wrong about him, he doesn't just watch you from the shadows, lookin' kinda creepy.

Not something I think most people have just lying around the house, and not something as cheap and easy as something white to put over your head and a black outfit.

I'm honestly unsure what a morphsuit is. I thought most series used regular suits. And ties. And a mask.
