ARG MODULE
NYC

I am attempting to create an arg to use as (a) a promotion and (b) a model to pitch to a serious group of investors whom I know will be very interested in my concept.

I will provide additional details as needed.

Quite frankly, right now I only have a vague notion of what I need to do and a limited amount of time and resources in which to do it.

PM me for additional information.

Hey guys,

Im in Toronto, and have been looking at getting involved in ARGs for quite awhile. I've worked on the web for about 15 years as a designer, information architect and picked up a respectable amount of programming, as well as dabbled in film making - so this stuff is right up my alley, and I love the media...

Skills:
Photoshop
Illustrator
Flash
Video / Audio Editing
Writing
HTML
ASP
SQL

I'd like to cut my teeth a bit on some stuff, but don't want to bite off more than I can chew (timewise speaking) - so I guess I want to start slowly.

As an extension of this thread - does unfiction have a list where someone keeps these volunteers (e.g. excel spreadsheet or other DB view)? For instance, I'd love to see where I could contact PMs in cities to leave trailmarkers (notes, symbols, objects) etc.

Anywho, lemme know - email is themythworks at our overlord Google's postal outlet.

thanks!

MW

Hey, mythworks! I'm in Toronto too. I actually just put in two grant applications (one from Toronto Arts Council and the other from the Ontario Arts Council) to do a local ARG for next year (we'll see what happens).

@ everyone else:

Number one: I'm pretty hardcore in any project i do...people can depend on me, but I'm also very ambitious and have a high drive so it can be hard for some to keep up. So if you aren't really serious then DON'T look me up Very Happy. I am planning to make a career out of this in the next few years so any project I am part of I want to be proud of.

My main strengths are writing and organization/project management of live events and research, as well as media relations (i mean for press releases, etc. if the ARG is large enough/creative enough to warrant it).

And when I say writing: I'm fairly competent and prolific. I have a minor in English (Creative Writing), and have mentored under a quasi-famous Canadian writer.

I suckorz at left brain puzzles and ciphers, but great for creativity, right brain and out of the box thinking.

I think I suck at acting, but I recently did a video on youtube in response to the Charlie Chaplin Time Traveller (I thought it was an ARG) that got over 5000 hits where people really believed I believed the crazy things I was saying -- so I can play crazy at least, ahaha.

Experience with ARGS: I played Conspiracy For Good pretty hardcore, and 48 hours in Purgatory somewhat before that, before that I mostly lurked...but I have studied transmedia/args pretty religiously and did a minor in Digital Media Studies where ARG's were my focus area.

I have a BFA so for Art skills: Drawing, Painting, Photoshop, screenprinting, etc. hell -- I can even weave a QR code into cloth. However, I suck at photography.

PM here is best.

Hey all. I've never done anything in puppetmastering and I wanted to see what it's all about. I can learn to do a lot of basic things, but I really have no specialty. My real interest is just to see what all goes on behind a project. I'll help if I can, but I'd really like to just see the behind the scenes of an ARG. If anyone is willing to let me just follow an ARG from a PM standpoint, send me a message. I promise to not let any answers to puzzles out if you let me sit behind a project. Thanks in advance.

I'm not too experienced in the PM field, but hey, gotta start somewhere.

I've thought about undertaking one myself, but i don't have the time or resources to do so right now.

Skills:
  • Can produce engineering drawings (could be useful, you never know)
  • Learning to produce 3D drawings
  • Good at thinking up stories
  • Fairly good at online acting (pretending to be characters on the internet)
  • Can travel around Midlands England
  • Experience in administrating small forums
  • Enjoy writing (anything from stories to blogs, and my gf is an editor)
  • Can play guitar (you never know)
  • Good at thinking outside the box

So, if there's some easy work that you cba with on your ARG, drop me a PM on here or e-mail me, i'll see what i can do.

I'd love to be involved in an ARG, or even a transmedia story.

Pros:

I'm really good at building on ideas, expanding and fine tuning and remembering those little threads. If you think big, I can pay attention to detail and vise versa.

I'm pretty motivated.

I enjoy making puzzles. Pretty much though if you give me the context and tell me what materials I have to work with I'm sure I can make a puzzle both one layered (or, only cipher* say) or multilayered (for example, creating a trail leading to a puzzle that gives you the key to the next puzzle).

I have a (lower end) video camera.

I'm a registered nurse and currently specialising in psych. Can bring a lot of information from those fields to the table.

I like reserching f it's history or magc or medical etc.

Cons:

I live in Sydney, Australia. And I sound *really* Australian.

I've never acted before.

PM me if you're interested or email me at pervertedintellectualSPLATgmail.com

*Ciphers are fun. Depending on game needs I can have an easy 1=A code or a more advanced with extra letters (for example, giving E, the most common letter used in the English language, three different symbols so you can't break it up by looking for common letters). Hell, it can be as difficult as you want with common joining letters (like "th" being one symbol, odd spacing to pretend words are shorter or longer than they are, etc. You know, easy to do, hell to decode).

Let's see...

-Video editing (iMovie)

-Advanced audio editing

-Codes/puzzles (How come nobody ever uses base58?)

-I have quite a bit of experience DMimg, so I would love to do some player interaction/emailing.

-I'm great for bouncing ideas off of. Tell me your idea and I will give you all the possible problems with it. "What about this? What if that?" are among the things that I might say. I very much enjoy troubleshooting ideas. If nothing else, shoot me a message with your ARG idea, and I'll help you work out the kinks.

I would rather not give out my primary email adress on a thread viewable by anyone, so send me a PM. THmanslayrSPLATgmail.com is also an option, but I rarely check that.

I'm on board for pretty much anything... I am a Digital Media Arts major with a lot of spare time on my hands, and I commit 110% to projects that I take on.

- Proficient with Photoshop (7+ years experience)
- Web Design - HTML & Java/CSS (Mostly Dreamweaver)
- Photography - I shoot with a Nikon D90.
- Artwork - http://this-is-xenocide.deviantart.com
- Writing - Character, plot, you-name-it!
- Editing / Proofreading - Spelling/Grammar/Continuity Police at your service!
- Advertising - Have a trailhead? Need a flyer/banner? Press release? I'm your girl!
- Networking - Need someone to manage a blog / facebook? I'm all over it.
- Research Guru - Found PM's personal contact info 2 days into an ARG once. :P
- VERY organized - Spreadsheets are your friend!
- Flexible schedule (Did I mention that I have a LOT of spare time on my hands?!)
- Great at playing a character (In writing, not so much on film)
- I live in the Seattle, WA area - DEFINITELY willing to do physical events in my area (willing to travel a little too).
- Competitive Figure Skater - Totally irrelevant, but it caught your attention! (Also it's true!)

Oh, and my roommate--who is a whiz with puzzles & computer information systems--is usually up for anything, so with me, you kind of get two for the price of one. haha.

I'd rather not post an email; PM here is best.
