Well, I've been looking at the painting and I have an idea here.

Looking at the face, I can't help but think he may be wearing a mask similar to Tim's. Perhaps there's a history behind these masks?

The maskies are actually an organization who plant the "seeded" cameras in order to bring the operator out of hiding, so they can get powers/secrets/the ark from/or destroy the operator. The reason Alex was exposed because his birthday was recorded on one of these special cameras when he was a child...

The organization has been in existence for decades. The masks are protection against identification by the operator.
They are the ones who make the "operator symbol" markings to show where the operator is frequently seen.
Brian, Tim, etc were all plants by this organization, getting close to Alex in order to use him.

While everyone was arguing about the significance of the paintings, The Operator was standing RIGHT BEHIND JAY. Check out the reflection in the window. I did, and had nine heart attacks. That's as many as nine ones. And that's terrible.

I think I see what you say it's the Operator, but for me it's not. I'd draw some lines arround his figure with Paint, but my eyes are still bothering me. If noone else sees it by tomorrow and the discussion is still on, I'll do it.

All I see is trees in that picture. The photographs of the paintings seem to imply that forests are still quite important.

I think I see what he's talking about, too.

If you look right above the lamp, there's a shadow going diagonally up to the left, and above that, a rectangular shadow, that could be taken for a head, but it's very clearly not our tall, dark and slender friend. It looks like the reflection of a house.

From a purely physics angle (and if I'm remembering physics properly), there's no way a picture at that angle could show the Operator behind Jay anyway, since the reflection is going to show what is at- for lack of a better word- a reflective angle. If Jay is angled 45 degrees to the window, the picture will show what is reflected 45 degrees away from the mirror in the opposite direction.

I could be wrong about that. If I am, please feel free to correct me.

I can appreciate, though, wanting to see him there. I wanted to believe it was there, too, if only because it would be a nice little touch.
