Now one of the other pictures of paintings, the one that was tweeted with "Lots of paintings of wooded areas in here." of a foggy woods seems much more interesting to me. I think that if you follow the path or road in the middle back into the misty woods, where the trees are harder to see for the mist, it looks like a shadowy figure is on the trail right there. It's just after the path jogs back to the left, and I don't think it's a tree, as there is a tree next to it that looks different, and also this shadow in the mist would be square in the middle of the path (which you can no longer see for the fog).

And I just noticed that outside the painting, sitting in front of it, is a pitcher. Lots of discussion has been had on water and water containers and what water (and conversely, it's opposite fire) have to do with The Operator. It could be an oversight or incidental to the shot, already there, but it would have been just as easy to move it so it wasn't there. I think it's probably nothing but I just noticed it.


Definitely noticed something there too. :g

I agree, I think we should let the water bit drop. It may have been an unintentional red herring due to coincidences in the Distortion.

Also, I love the idea that the paintings are signals to clues about the Operator's movements in the past. Perhaps the masks are a society that tries to save people from him, and the only way to keep them alive once they've been "sacrificed" is to turn them into one of their own, and they got to Tim just in time?

That's what I'm thinking. I'm assuming season three will continue the trend of J coming into possession of a collection of tapes that he must search through, and that's a likely source right there.

Provided those cameras have any film in them. He may have to go old school for those; i.e. projector. Razz Some of them looked pretty old.
