I'll admit, I went in expecting a 94 minute Marble Hornets rip off but I didn't even get that really. This is super-independent so I want to be nice to it, but there's really no way to cover up flaws.

The pacing is the killer. This movie's first half is twice as long as it could ever dream of needing to be. Slow, dramatic build up is amazing when done right (see: There Will Be Blood) but this is torturous. It takes way, way too long for anything interesting to happen, and this problem is worsened by the fact that this is a Slender Man story. That means, the audience already walks in just wanting to see Slender tear shit up, so they're even less patient than a typical audience. Knowing this, if you want to do slow pacing, you MUST have something interesting to match which leads to...

The acting is undeniably subpar. This one I'm a bit more sympathetic to because this is something some Canadian chaps made in their backyard. The acting in Clerks was atrocious too but that movie made millions; bad acting is just something indie films suffer. But, Clerks had well written dialogue and well crafted scenes. Windigo doesn't. There are attempts at atmosphere building with the story about the wendigo and some tension among the crew that is admirable but because of the acting it doesn't get off the ground.

Of course, nothing is wholly terrible (except Batman and Robin). The extremely Canadian old guy in the hat was always funny to watch, even in the last half of the movie. And the last half is at least competent. Slendy looks good, the acting gets a bit better when the only emotions they have to convey are confusion and fear. That last encounter with the real Slendy was pretty well done too; I honestly didn't expect it to be that intense.

A movie can recover from bad pacing, bad writing, or bad acting but all three together are a death sentence. This was a pretty admirable go at a stand alone Slendy film, but it just doesn't work. It'd be like if the Blair Witch Project spent the first hour and half watching the kids run around their film school talking to professors about their project and then in the last thirty minutes the Blair Witch burns their car.

Just finished watching this, and I've got to say, I'm really impressed.

Agreeing with Archelon on this one, I was expecting some form of Marble Hornets rip off, but when you see the real thing... Well, the plot is actually brilliant.

I was a little thrown off, or... Confused at some points, but this is probably all down to my concentration.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The whole action scene at the end kind of threw me off a little bit, who was shooting who and all, ahah.

Overall, It's a brilliant watch, well done guys!

[MOVIE] Windigo (Slender Man Movie)
Movie involving Slender Man

YouTube: Link

Directed by Vince Emerson.
The idea was well thought out but the acting was a little choppy near the end. I overall liked this movie.
