On beneath.html is a 14x14 grid of symbols with letters. The symbols are all repeated except for one, 7th row, 7th column. Confused Could be the title is telling us to use the letters beneath the symbols, not the ones between them.

beneath.html SOLVED (couldn't resist not working on it)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
See here:- http://www.robotwisdom.com/science/phaistos/

Symbols are from the phaistos disk. Compared with the source page, the symbols on beneath.html are backwards so I figure I should work backwards somehow. After a bit of playing around with the "maze", I figured that at our "start" is actually the B12 group (numbering on source page) but going backwards. So going symbol to symbol, backwards from B12 to B11 and all the way to B01 gave me:

"serapistheonheptagrammatonunderthetemplwofserapis"

Then for some reason, after the B01 group, it jumps to the B13 group but going forwards. So from where B01 left off, taking symbols from B13 then B14 all the way to B30 I hit the "end". This part gave me:

"theelabyrinthstoodtheneophyteswhosurvivedwerethenusheredintofaceserapis"

Putting the 2 sections together (and adding spces for clarity) gave me:

serapis theon heptagrammaton under the templw of serapis thee labyrinth stood the neophytes who survived were then ushered in to face serapis

(Notes: (1) compared to the source page I quoted above, there were were some differences in symbols used in 2 or 3 groups on the beneath.html page. (2) it does actually say "templw" instead of "temple" and "thee" instead of "the" but you're welcome to double check.)

So the next page: http://www.theseventhsons.com/serapis.html

I wonder if the new page does something after awhile...

Page has been updated. Now has the following text on it:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Such, then are the myths which the Cretans recount of the gods who they claim were born in their land. They also assert that the honors accorded to the gods and their sacrifices and the initiatory rites observed in connection with the mysteries were handed down from Crete to the rest of men, and to support this they advance the following most weighty argument, as they conceive it: the initiatory rite which is celebrated by the Athenians in Eleusis, the most famous, one may venture, of them all, and that of Samothrace, and the one practiced in Thrace among the Cicones, whence Orpheus came who introduced them---these are all handed down in the form of a mystery, whereas at Knossos in Crete it has been the custom from ancient times that these initiatory rites should be handed down to all openly, and what is handed down among other people as not to be divulged, this the Cretans conceal from no one who may wish to inform himself upon such matters. Indeed, the majority of the gods, the Cretans say, had their beginning in Crete and set out from there to visit many regions of the inhabited world, conferring benefactions upon the races of men and distributing among each of them the advantage which resulted from the discoveries they had made

Looking it up on google says that the text is from

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Diodorus Siculus V, 77, according to this page

Knock yourselves out on this one.

Text has been changed:

Quote:

Initiation into the rites of Mithras, like initiation into many other ancient schools of philosophy, apparently consisted of three important degrees. Preparation for these degrees consisted of self-purification, the building up of the intellectual powers, and the control of the animal nature. In the first degree the candidate was given a crown upon the point of a sword and instructed in the mysteries of Mithras' hidden power. Probably he was taught that the golden crown represented his own spiritual nature, which must be objectified and unfolded before he could truly glorify Mithras; for Mithras was his own soul, standing as mediator between Ormuzd, his spirit, and Ahriman, his animal nature. In the second degree he was given the armor of intelligence and purity and sent into the darkness of subterranean pits to fight the beasts of lust, passion, and degeneracy. In the third degree he was given a cape, upon which were drawn or woven the signs of the zodiac and other astronomical symbols. After his initiations were over, he was hailed as one who had risen from the dead, was instructed in the secret teachings of the Persian mystics, and became a full-fledged member of the order. Candidates who successfully passed the Mithraic initiations were called Lions and were marked upon their foreheads with the Egyptian cross. Mithras himself is often pictured with the head of a lion and two pairs of wings. Throughout the entire ritual were repeated references to the birth of Mithras as the Sun God, his sacrifice for man, his death that men might have eternal life, and lastly, his resurrection and the saving of all humanity by his intercession before the throne of Ormuzd.

My theory is that SPH might be 'the end of the line'. One possible solve for it was 'Name is seven', and the user name 'septimuseseptem' is all about sevens. It would seem to indicate that SPH is meant as a hint for the login.

Where did the user name and password for the login come from anyhow? Email?

yes, it came from the email (the maze led to an email address and that created an autoreply with the login & password in the email).

I'm tempted to agree with you, but then the question is, what is the proper way to get to sanctum.html if there's no missing link between sph and sanctum?

At 6pm, PST, the "so close" vanished and the clock appeared on the main seventhsons.com page.

SPEC - it's gonna happen at 7pm, whatever it is...

The flash file that does the clock is named 'wait.swf'. Arg! (The real reason it's called an 'arg')

New front page....Ticking clock flash file (wait) and a login beneath. Trying to go directly to previously known pages (like that stupid sph) gives a 404. Guess we need to find a login now.
