The reference to BioShock was pretty blatant. I'm not familiar with the game so I headed to Wikipedia to look it up. A few things especially stood out to me as potential parallels to EMH. I could be way off here, of course, so if you're familiar with the game, please do correct or clarify these ideas. Quotes are all from Wikipedia, emphases mine.

Quote:
The player takes the role of Jack, who aims to fight his way through Rapture, using weapons and plasmids (genetic alterations), in order to complete objectives. At times, the player may opt to use stealth tactics to avoid detection by security cameras and automated turrets.

Evan/HABIT

Quote:
Cameras, turrets, safes, door locks, and vending machines can all be hacked to the player's advantage, providing benefits such as turning on the player's foes, revealing their contents to the player, allowing entry to locked areas, or allowing the player to purchase items at a discount.

HABIT hacking the EMH channel, email, & CYSTW, as well as uploading surveillance footage, revealing the boys' secrets to each other and to us

Quote:
The player is given a "research camera" early in the game, allowing Jack to take photographs of enemies to help analyze them, with better quality photographs providing more beneficial analysis.

Pretty obvious

Quote:
... should Jack die, his body is reconstituted at the nearest [Vita-Chamber], retaining all of his possessions, but only a portion of his full health.

The Iteration Theory. Scary to think the guys may be diminishing with each iteration, especially if, as Mattwan suggested, the guys have been reviving throughout the series. But if that's true, why do they sometimes revive as babies? Does dying in a specific way (maybe according to the Everyman roles?) push the reset button, so to speak, while other deaths merely send them back to the last save point?

Quote:
The player can collect and assign a number of plasmids and gene tonics which grant Jack the ability to unleash special attacks or confer passive benefits such as improved health or hacking skills

Again, HABIT infestation

Quote:
These plasmids also alter the player's appearance to reflect "sacrificing one's humanity".

That phrase gives me the willies. We haven't seen a ton of physical changes, although Vinnie's beard loss comes to mind.

Quote:
Tonics can increase Jack's strength and resistance to damage or make hacking machines easier. The game encourages the use of creative combination of plasmids [aka genetic alterations], weapons, and the use of the environment.

Yeah, sounds pretty spot-on for both HABIT & Slenderman.

Quote:
Tenenbaum devised a means for the sea slugs to be embedded in the stomachs of young girls from Fontaine's orphanages, named Little Sisters, producing large quantities of ADAM.

We know of an orphaned girl who currently has something of unknown origin embedded in her stomach.

These are less direct parallels, but perhaps worth noting:
Quote:
[the player must] survive attacks by the mutated beings and mechanical drones that populate it.

"Mutated beings" could easily describe The Rake, HABIT and his hosts, and maybe Slenderman. "Mechanical beings" is more ambiguous, but I keep thinking of the surveillance cameras. If they're sentient, this could describe them.

- Jack discovers he's an illegitimate child, that his genetics give him access to "locked-out systems," and that he's been programmed for a special purpose.
- "Big Daddy" brings Nick to mind
- Same with ADAM mutagen and Sigma radiation
- And of course, BioShock takes place underwater

Thoughts? Objections? Outright mockery?

I've never played Bioshock, but I've often considered it as a way to reexamine what we've been watching. I may have to now because that is pretty fucking cool, sir. Someone should tomblar it.

In light of recent events "Big Daddy" brings someone else to mind.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I am of course speaking of Slender Man, who will use Vinny's old beard to add a fur trim to his suit and adopt "Big Daddy" as his new pimp handle.

I thought that the most obvious reference to Bioshock is that the main character of bioshock is assuming he is making most of his own choices by his own free will...but actually he has been pre-programmed by another character, whom he has been receiving orders from since the very beginning of the game.

Pretty reminiscent of what Habit is doing to the main characters, huh.
Basically it's about free will.

Also it's chock-full of Randian philosophy.

So I was doing some further reading and noticed this:
Quote:
Ryan in turn was forced to create his own plasmid-enhanced soldiers, nicknamed Splicers, controlled by pheromones in Rapture's atmosphere.[39] The resulting war left few survivors. Those that remained alive barricaded themselves in isolated areas of Rapture, while the remains of the Splicer armies, having become deranged over time due to heavy ADAM use, wander Rapture looking for more ADAM to consume.

Started wondering if there was a Rake connection here, so I googled splicer for images. Noting particularly Rakish, but this was the third result:

Shocked Lots more like that one too.

NGTL, the ridiculous side of me would love it if he actually wore a damn rabbit mask at one point. Nobody expects that kind of truly outre touch in a nil-budget vlog where everything has to account for the realities of the production.

Yay!

Do we think it's relevent at all for us to try to indentify the "hand" shots?

I'm pretty sure the last knife shot was Steph holding the knife. And I'll submit from the black hairs from the pool shot that it was Vinnie.

I don't think we are supposed to know, really.

Since we're on the subject of HABIT and Bioshock:
http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/The_Wild_Bunny

Now that I think about it, HABIT and Sander Cohen are VERY similar. Perhaps HABIT manifests himself differently in everyone. I doubt Mengele and Jackie Boy were as loopy as the HABIT we know. Even the CYSTW posts have him act slightly differently than we're used to. Since Evan's a big Bioshock fan, HABIT takes on a few of Cohen's mannerisms when using him. One wonders if he snapped a quick pic of Jessie's mangled corpse for his Quadtych.

Oh, and yes, I was the one who mentioned http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/Seeing_Ghosts on the wiki page for The Corenthal Connection.

Perhaps,as Anonymousity noted below,we are not supposed to know...but having said that--I kind of think we ARE suppposed to know and what tipped me was the fact that until you pointed it out--I didn't even notice that that hand in the last shot was female--hence we can assume it may be Steph--and the implications of THAT are chilling--especially since we see her being menacing with the knife near Evan's (and by extrapolation--HABIT's) beloved Bioshock game.Also--I would agree with the shot of the hand by the pool indeed being Vince's....

As far as everything else poeple have mentioned--it's staggering...every bit of it!

When did HABIT take over her tumblr??
Because, logic, it could hint towards her inhabitation...

I'm a bit new to EMH and haven't posted in this thread before, but I watched the latest video (and I've watched the rest of the series too, of course), and the Bioshock stuff and the connections tijde pointed out are really interesting. So, here's some of my own crackpot theorizing.

I've played BioShock 2 and the relationship between the Little Sisters and Big Daddies was very important and I'm almost seeing a bit of a Little Sister/Big Daddy relationship with Steph and Evan here (although I know the terms make it sound a bit weird - but Evan will indeed be a "daddy" now). The way that Evan says "I'm going to keep fighting for you, tooth and nail"...The main (well, only) job of the Big Daddies in BioShock is to protect the little sisters and what's inside them at all costs. In this case, Evan is protecting Steph and what's inside her.

Little Sisters exist to harvest ADAM. In order to harvest the ADAM from a Little Sister in the game, though, the Little Sister is killed. Maybe Steph's baby, if it is some kind of crazy HABIT baby, is similar in power to ADAM? And Steph is being used as a host to harvest the baby, as the Little Sisters are used as hosts to harvest ADAM?

Little Sisters can also turn into Big Sisters eventually too, if I'm remembering correctly. Big Sisters are powerful as hell and are one of the main enemies in BioShock 2. I don't know what that means for Steph.

On the subject of the last few seconds of the video- and if I'm rehashing something someone has already pointed out pardon me- Dixie_Wolf pointed out to me what I didn't realize was the swimming pool. As in the drowning videos, shown at the very last instant. Assuming Vince was the camera man (by the voice I'd say he was), and HABIT had the flashlight, then we can now see what happened there. But if we have the footage of it, then that means it already did happen and Vince is fine and/or reiterated. At least we can assume that for a moment? So if the "they die/reiterate" theory is correct, then Slenderman, Rake, and/or HABIT seem somehow incapable of killing them. Which could be what HABIT wants the Rabbits for- to do what he cannot, and when everything is over, to have a shiny new host.

Maybe?
