Zapotec
probably nothing

I just have a couple minutes and have tried to get caught up with the pages of posts here as best as I can.

I see a wiki has been started! Thank you to all who are contributing. I'll try to lend a hand there as well, time permitting.

Until now, we've gotten an ARG related link from each new page of the Weyland Industries site so far, so there has to be something hidden in the Investor Information page...right? Smile

As you guys have already posted, the Primary Resource Key seems like there's to be something hidden within it, whether it's a cipher, some type of chemical or alchemical formula...or something else.

I've found a couple things that probably amount to more nothing, but I don't think I've seen them posted yet, so here goes.

If you list the elements/compounds in by their atomic/compound number, all of the fictitious "elements" end up at the end of the list (as they'd have to building on the known periodic table). I'm using the term "element" loosely since graphite is just a carbon allotrope and rare earths seems more a compound than an element.

119 Eitr Et
147 Graphite Pc
147 Adamantine Ax
219 Carmot Ct
247 Orichalcum Oc
345 Rare Earths Zx
627 Tridium Tx

Taking only the 1st letters of their abbreviations gives you "EPACOZT" which then anagrams to "ZAPOTEC". That makes sense in terms of ancient civilizations but isn't one of the 7 shown in the trailer (the closest from the trailer would be MAYAN, central TEOTIHUACAN).

I've unsuccessfully tried /zapotec as a directory at both the Weyland and PP sites, as well as /montealban, /maya, /mayan, /teotihuacan, etc. as well as **zapotec and starstar.to/zapotec etc. I've also tried the corresponding number string/combos (using element # combos based on zapotec).

Next, looking only at the 2nd letters of those abbreviations (in order) you get -- "t c x t c x x" -- Now this really makes me think they randomly threw in those 2nd letters, and that it may be the 1st letter we should be concentrating on.

Finally there's a bit of a pattern in the atomic #'s they've assigned to these fictional "elements" (which likely again is another dead end):
119 --> 147, 147 (the 2nd 147 may still be a mistake)
219 --> 247
345 Obviously any pattern breaks down here (unless one of the 147's should be a 319 which I realize is a stretch)
627

There is an actual element named Promethium/Prometheum but it's atomic # is 61 and it's not on their resource key

If they're trying to hint at anything Alchemical, they're going to have to fix their mistakes and give us better hints.

EDIT: The more I look at the pattern of those 2nd letters (t c x t c x x), the more I think they're random (with last in series Tx because Tt would've been weird) so don't mean anything.

What I want to happen..

It would be awesome if the key was pushing resource buttons to make a word or number, then that would trigger an animation or something on the weyland site.

Alas, every word or number combo we can think of has probably been tried there, and nada..

Yeah. I've been trying the combo's I posted above directly on that resource table too with no luck.

Interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prometheus_Bound

Quote:
The play is composed almost entirely of speeches and contains little action since its protagonist is chained and immobile throughout. At the beginning, Kratos (strength), Bia (force), and the smith-god Hephaestus chain the Titan Prometheus to a mountain in the Caucasus and then depart. According to the author, Prometheus is being punished not only for stealing fire, but also for thwarting Zeus's plan to obliterate the human race. This punishment is especially galling since Prometheus was instrumental in Zeus's victory in the Titanomachy.

Now this sounds particularly revealing, in terms of the film plot. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the ARG right now, though.

back during the eridu clues i've read up on prometheus and tangential mythologies on various sites. i've looked into rings -both literal and in space relative to orion & erudanis, oort clouds of orion, "the chair of the central" one stars, a star that neighbours both orion and erudanis, the iota star in the horologium constellation, and even more.

but, starting with a quote,

Quote:
But, as he had sworn that Prometheus the Titan would remain forever chained to the rock, he had to wear a ring made of the iron of his chains, and with a piece of the rock he was tied to. And that's how the ring with a stone came into being!

from http://www.greek-gods-and-goddesses.com/prometheus-the-titan.html

i've mentioned earlier about the myth of prometheus being forever bound to the rock of caucus. while hercules does free him, zeus allowed it because it was one of the tasks his son had to accomplish in a round about way. however, as some sort of consolation to fulfill prometheus' fate (for lack of a better word), he was required to wear a ring made of the chains he was bound to hold the rock of caucus mountain. that way he would be forever bound to the rock. that was considered the first ring with a stone. humans began wearing rings with rocks in order to honour prometheus.

forever rings, wedding bands and such were thus also by way of prometheus bound. (david 8/infinity reference? / 'ad infinitum' reference from ted talk? see speech transcript)

when researching myths keep in mind that there are many variants of the story and different names of characters. for instance the eagle is named eton, but also aquila.

and, the rock in one version is adamatine, while in another it is the rock of caucus mountain -concurring with a statement made earlier.

I'm stumped.

As a first time ARGer this sucks.

First movie that i've been interested in that actually has one of these and they basically screw it up from the start.

i'm thinking we have to click on the clickable things and get the right order or something?

I still don't know where else to go with this....
