I've been following this for awhile now (although I haven't been active in the community yet) but I just wanna say that this is one of, if not the best, ARGs I've ever witnessed. Well executed, beautifully shot, dark, visceral, realistic, immersive, and many, many other complimentary adjectives are needed to describe this thing. I am really excited to follow this through to its conclusion and I can't wait to learn more about the creators and their motivations behind this project, since this is so incredibly well done for something that apparently isn't financially backed by anything major. Whoever is behind this definitely has a future in the film industry or whatever they choose to pursue with it.

Well, I came here excited to discuss the latest video…but it seems the new topic of conversation is that the creators are now looking for donations. Unfortunately I am in no position right now to help out in that aspect but I really hope they are able to get the funds they need to keep the project alive.

As for the latest updates: Maybe this is stupid, but who is Virgil again? And be warned if you click the newest hidden DNC video…prepare for a freaking Screamer! God I hate those…Also, does anyone have a screenshot of the "Kill Yourself" flash-frame around the :20 mark? Who is face? I don't recognize that person.

(One more thing: Is there still an active chat room for MDT? I saw one for chat.mibbit.com #mdt mentioned earlier in the thread but I have never seen another person in there...but maybe i just have bad luck.)

Glad you de-lurked! There's usually a small contingent of chatters in the evening (US time). If I show up its around 9pm-midnight (Eastern). There should at least be a bot in the room when you join; there's always a few people idling, too. Come on over!

I could not get a screenshot of the Kill Yourself moment in the vid, but I think it's Melissa again.

I got nothin' on the Virgil bit. Chris seems to think it's a second reference to Dante's Inferno. Virgil is the poet who accompanies the narrator through the underworld.

Hey guys, not to be awkward or anything, but I've been lurking the unfiction forums for a while on and off. I find these things really interesting and I would love to participate and help out. Since videos 59 and 60 just recently came out, I thought this would be a good time to join in on this actively.

I'm still reading up on what has happened so far. I'm around page 14 or so haha. If anyone would like to give me a rundown up till now, it would be much appreciated.

I was late to the party also, and since I didn't give a formal hi to all on my last post, a big hello to all. The thing that was most helpful for me was the MDT official playlist called "From the Beginning". Some of the footage was censored for youtube, I think all are noted as such in the description, but you can find the unedited ones at the official MDT Vimeo. The MDT wiki has some out of date links but the base info is great so between those I was able to catch up quickly. I was a little concerned about the series when we finally saw the faces of MDT and DNC. The interaction just felt off to me, I wanted to see more emotion from MDT. Was really glad to see the seething rage in #59, very well played with no speech at all. Not sure how to feel about the Kickstarter really. I would love to see more of the series, and agree that all content creators should be able to make some $ if they work really hard on it. I would rather him sell shirts or a dvd after it is done though. Even just throw some Google adsense up on a blog and link the vids from there or something would be fine to me. Looking forward to more from this guy regardless.

Okay, after a lot of conversation on the irc I have come up with a few diffrent theories and have been given a large prod to post them here:

Don (as a captive party)

I did for a while wonder if Don is actually with DNC et all against his own will. Apart from his first appearence he has not been seen alone, and even when we saw him DNC never left his side, further backed up by the fact that Melissa is sent to meet Chris in the graveyard.

When he is speaking in the meeting, Don sounds confused and vauge, almost like he is making it up as he goes along, for a group that takes so much joy in their action his vauge avoidant terms (especially linking to killing the Dad) seem unsure.

When they go outside to burry Melissa, note that its DNC who leads, he is moving out the door before Don says about the walk (this may just be the actor missing a cue) the whole time it seems very much like DNC is in control of this meeting

The idea that he created a puzzle trail to lead Chris to him is equally bizzare. For this plan to work he would have to predict Detective Adams and the aid of people on twitter and all of this seems a rather open and roundabout way to do it


The many faces of DNC

Something that has been bugging us in the irc is why DNC showed his face to Chris on video and yet reuses the mask in the videos and is still so secret on twitter.

Waitress2 has brought up that the mask might just be part of the killing ritual and he just needs it for the deed to be "right" (this would fit with why Kathleen was burried, as he can't perform the normal ritual without his mask)

One idea I have is the theory that there might be 2 DNCs (for the sake of flow tDNC = Twitter DNC and mDNC= the man we met at the bar)

tDNC is very clever, he knows about tarrot, classical poetry yet mDNC seems dumb. When I pointed this out on twitter tDNC said about being a Chamelion to blend in. The issue is has mDNC ever really blended in? In the bar he stood out.
(of course this could be his deconstruction of normal society, to act like a normal person, mDNC acts like a loud outspoken ass [much like the discussion of Superman in Kill Bill])

Don went as far as to call mDNC "dumb" we know this can not be true, as the various actions we have seen from both the youtube videos and tDNC show he is very clever. Also, it seems odd that DNC would out himself in the first place, especialy on video in the first place.

But what would having 2 DNCs achive?

Protection?: By having mDNC, tDNC has someone to cover for him and should Chris take the bait and kill it looks like the group has gone, allowing tDNC to fade back into the shadows and continue his work

However, to counter my own argument, maybe DNC is put upon by Don, when I called him out for using Melissa to do his dirty work at the graveyard his tweet back took on a rather agressive tone, almost as if I had hit a nerve


The Scooby-Doo

DNC does not exist, he is mearly a construct made by Don/the group to push Chris on.

Would Chris have followed through with all of this if he knew his Uncle was involved? DNC seems like the perfect antagonist figure, making Chris seem heroic.

Could mDNC actually be dumb, maybe all the kill videos have been directed by Don/the group with mDNC in them as he mearly looks imposing.

This would also explain the masks, they are there to give an air of dred to the victims, the whole idea of the stalk, the static and then the kill makes it seem like the joy comes from the torture, the kill is clean up. So the idea of making a physically imposing uber-Villian would suit their style


Group Dynamic

So far it seems the group are highly organized and have been running for years. As of the meeting, it seems its DNC, Melissa a hand full of random masky people all led by Don.

For some reason this does not gel with me. This whole thing seems to have something bigger going on.

Scientology has come up many times and it seems that it must have some link due to the sheer number of times it has been mentioned.

Also, the painting in the meeting of Chris, Don and DNC, fits the idea of it being there for someone else. I mean why would DNC feel the need to say that its not over? Having that presumes that Chris would not kill Don, but even if he did why would DNC hide a painting with a coded message to a hidden youtube video?



The Raven

The Raven has quite a few ideas linked to it.

But the fact that image DNC sent Chris was The Cheshire Cat could suggest the videos with the Raven were refrence to Alice In Wonderland.

The Hatter asks Alice "Why is a Raven like a writing desk?"

Well many theories have been suggested (Including "Poe wrote on both") However, one popular one is "you can not get the front and the back confused"

If we take this out to our two DNC theories then tDNC cuts up a Raven in the Nevermore video.
In the meeting mDNC wears a shirt with a Raven on it.

If the idea that "Quote the Raven. nevermore." and the idea that you can not get the front and the back of Raven confused then could this be tDNC saying about them being diffrent people.


To further go on with Alice based theories.

Alice left her sister to go to wonderland, (she was with her on the river bank) and its her sister that brings her out of wonderland (by brushing Alice's hair out of her face). Could this be a refrence to Chris' sister, or even the ever elusive Emily?


Wonderland vs The Inferno

The two recent themes of DNC's videos and tweets have been Dante's Inferno and Alice in Wonderland

Both of them are works of fiction with a real world person in them (Dante inserted himself and Alice was Carrol's daughter)

Both involve a journey through an unknown land that breaks the laws of the "normal" world (Very fitting for Chris' life right now)

Both have a guide, Alice has Cheshire (which DNC directly refrenced) and Dante has Virgil [later Beatrice] (agan a direct refrence from DNC)

If we use DNCs recent posts. He asks where our Virgil is, but lets Cheshire guide us (via the twitter binary)

Note unlike Virgil (who directly aids Dante and knows the ways to protect them both), Cheshire is always depicted as rather passive, more focused on his own gain rather than directly guiding Alice, in most versions (including Disney) he seems chaotic and like he follows Alice for fun (to see her react to wonderland) rather than out of a desire to actually help her.

Could DNC be refering to himself? He is Cheshire, passive and sat back, caring more to sit back and watch the fall out rather than risk himself to aid (or destroy) Chris.

Looking at it another way, Cheshire has the ability to appear and disappear at will. Emily has just appeared much like Cheshire and is now acting as a guide, a passive pulling force that is leading Chris in one direction while at the same time being physically distant

Adams has just gone north, he is much more like Virgil, becoming activly involved and trying to help Chris (in fact, much in the way Virgil knew to throw dirt at Cerbius to blind it, Adam's has been constantly pushing Chris to not put video on youtube to effectivly "blind" DNC)

Is there anything that confuses me ... References to "Melissa buried", "Emily has just appeared" ... I guess it's a confusion with the names, otherwise I feel really lost ...

Regarding the DNC shirt with a raven, and we had seen a long time in "black friday ø", you could say it is their "work shirt".

I think Jono meant Kathleen when she said that Melissa was buried, so yeah a confusion of names.

However i didn't bother with a transcript for the last MDT video #59. Emily appeared by way of what sounds like a telephone message. At the very end of the video there is a female's voice that says "My name is Emily and I think you've been looking for me". Was really brief but I should have transcribed it. She sounds a lot younger than the person that i thought was Emily.

Hey guys! Sorry for being away from the forums... stuff has been going on in my life, (stuff that also means I might not be able to donate at all... D but I've been popping into IRC when I can. :p

I LOVE the Virgil/Cheshire theories, jono. I think that the hostage, now that it's explained better, makes a lot more sense then when everyone was chattering at once in IRC the first time it was being explained. ><

On another note, I've lost my new phone and haven't been able to find it, so IDK if Chris has tried to contact me at all, but I DID find my old phone which still works (for some reason? Oo) so I might text Chris tomorrow to let him know that I have 2 numbers in Jess's phone in case my new, lost phone really IS in some landfill somewhere in Dallas.
