I don't think anyone's truly offended or hurt by this - but it is sort of ... I don't know, a little grubby and silly to have piggybacked on the ilovebees phenom in order to drum up publicity for themselves, especially with the whole hero/heroine dichotomy they're trying to push.

ilovebees is full of chicks with guns and 'tude and insane amounts of intelligence. Master Chief ain't here.

I guess I see your point, but then, everything that is taken seriously should have fun poked at it, and the way I look at it, this is just indicative of Video Gamers being an entire subculture rather than a cross section of society.
If Something Awful write up a big front page next week making fun of ILB, then I'll be offended...most likely. But if Nintendo pokes us in the ribs, its like gamers ribbing other gamers, only makes me feel like part of the whole that much more.
Honestly I'd rather find out Nintendo is making fun of us, rather than find that ABC news is barely getting the point and confusing the world at large trying to explain -our- pasttimes, yet again, in teeny sound bites to a population that just doesnt get it.

I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, just kinda thinking through the keyboard.

Bomb-Diggity and unity among gamers.

I agree that a little ribbing is good fun between competing videogame systems. I think we can agree that Metroid and Halo are not necessarily mutually exclusive. For my part, I have enjoyed both games. And I'm stinking pumped about Halo2 even though I only own a Gamecube. I think that there are lots of folks out there like me and my brother and law; he's got the Xbox, and I've got the cube, and we play the best games for both systems and enjoy beating/shooting the everloving snot out of each other on any system. (On that note, I have to get my sister-in-law married to some guy with a PS2.)

And I like ripping off other people's ideas. Ilovepeas.com is a ripoff from Ilovebees as well as Zero Wing, but Halo2.com rips off of Zero wing as well.

I just hope that this ribbing doesn't prevent the purchase of hoardes of games. I hope Halo2, Metroid Prime:Echoes, GTA:San Andreas, and Killzone all see record sales numbers. Because as those games compete, they are forced to get better, deeper, and more bomb-diggity. We come out winners. When there is only one company out there, game makers ride on their laurels, and we gamers lose out. I am happy to watch Sony and Microsoft clamber for marketshare, and aloof Nintendo can keep not caring about monopoly, just to keep putting out the most creative gaming experience out there. It makes for a wicked bomb-diggity market.

Hi. My name is Phieferboy. I own a Gamecube. And I love bees.

By the way, I don't think ilovepeas.com, etc., are authorized by Nintendo. They have too many earmarks of a silly fan-prank.

The "official" fake Metroid sites, however, a probably real, and simply a result of Nintendo knowing a good idea (ilovebees.com) when they see it.

I think it's pretty funny, personally. I can't wait for either Halo 2 or Metroid Prime: Echoes. I think they're both going to be absolutely superb games.
