The noises at the last few seconds were run through s spectrogram. They say "This is your last birthday". Shocked

Am I really the only one who thinks the Ark isn't literal and isn't a thing?

The ONLY references to an "ark" we've seen in the series are in totheark's name, Entry ######, and Decay. ALL creations of totheark, known for being cryptic to the point of absurdity.

Why is it that everybody takes the Ark literally, but nobody is saying things like "I THINK JAY AND BRIAN ARE THE TWINS" or "I BET THAT'S THE DOOR THAT WAS UNOPENED"?

The Ark is almost certainly just a cryptic, perhaps symbolic reference. My current thought is that it's just a metaphor for the end to TTA's conflict with Alex - a rebirth in a sense, just as Noah's Ark was a sort of rebirth for the world.

i don't know, it could be because having one of the main reasons people keep watching be a red herring would be ridiculous

just a wild theory

Red herring disagrees.

I'm inclined to agree that "the ark" is likely something figurative but I doubt that it is merely a way of referring to his desire to kill Alex or just "his goal" or some such thing. But some theories suggesting that the ark is a physical place or a portal to Slenderland or some such nonsense don't seem likely.

Also, we do need to consider the possibility that totheark has so completely lost his mind that "the ark" doesn't refer to anything OBJECTIVELY real but just some obsession that's overcome him. The religious nature of the term suggests that he considers "the ark" to be his "salvation", in some sense. This might mean that totheark LEGITIMATELY sees a spiritual dimension to all this--perhaps he's become convinced that the Operator is the devil or some such thing. Again, we're dealing with a deranged mind here. Just food for thought.

my theory is that the ark is the place where people "dissapear" to when slendy takes them, and someone is still there that totheark wants to let free or something

Wow, a Pup Named Scooby Doo reference! I didn't think anyone on here would be old enough to remember that show.

I don't think you know what a red herring is.

It's really cool to see how the series gets puzzling again.
I'm sure, as the most of you, that this is for Alex, but i'm not quite sure why TTA mentions death again, i remember him/her/them using that before, but not in such explicit way (Remember the smile for the death thing).
Anyway, I think that the most exciting thing about this character ) is that thing about the ark that we really don't know and it could be anything at this point.
Can't wait for the new entry and more tapes from Tim.

sure i do, it's when they lead you to think it's one thing only to reveal it barely plays a part in things at all if it does. to reveal the ark isn't physical would be doing just that

What I want to know is what tool they use to take an image file, interpret it as an audio spectrogram and generate a sound file from it. I totally want to include that in something. Smile

This is a really good video. I just tried typing out a sentence to analyze it further but trying to do so sent chills down my spine. Also it is very late. Also I liked the thumbnail so much that I ripped it straight out and made it my new avatar. (Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was the Operator before viewing the video)

Edit: Aw, thumbnail does not look as good when it's trying to accommodate my avatar space. I'm not gonna change it now though

A red herring is something intended to throw a reader off from solving a mystery, a fake clue of sorts. Revealing the ark is a metaphor would not be a fake clue nor throw the reader off. Having Jay say "Maybe the ark is a metaphor" only for it to turn out to not be that at all would be a red herring.

Furthermore, Marble Hornets has not been definite in dismissing the use of metaphors in the plot so far. It wouldn't be out of the question to suggest that the ark is metaphorical unless we were outright told it wasn't in the context of the narrative. And, for the record, we're talking about an ambiguous phenomenon that is symbolic by nature. Just the name "the ark" offers credence to symbolism.

To sum my points up, to reveal the ark is symbolic and/or a metaphor would not, at all, be a red herring. Some may find it disappointing, but that does not make it a red herring.
