[SPEC] Like Halo?

I was sitting her pondering which was worthy of help: Dana or SP; it dawned on me how similar ILB is with the original Halo game at this point. In Halo, there are three basic arcs:

1. Get on Halo, meet up with everyone, and fight Covies.
2. Meet the Librarian, meet Guilty Spark, get the Index.
3. Stop the flood, stop GS343, and escape.

So far, there have been two major arcs in the axon hunting:

1. Meet Operator, befriend operator, capture SP.
2. Help SP escape, show SP we're her friends.

Now, it seems, we're reaching a kind of end game, where SP is presented, in part by Dana, as a very Bad Thing that has to be stopped, that has to be stopped at any cost, much like stopping the Flood/GS343 had to be done at any cost (including Keyes, Forerunner technology, etc.). This might be a useless trout of a SPEC, maybe a tri-arc story is common, but the shift in allies -- first shifting to where we help SP, now shifting back to help Dana -- feels like the shift in Halo where you first help GS343 and then you have to stop him.

Thoughts? Possibilities?

Sounds entirely likely, but I think we'll be stopping Mel not SP...

Of course its becoming rather hard to tell at this point....

Actually, this story has been shifting by character. First it was getting to know Dana, then SP was our focus, with the axons and "live" calls we revolved around Melissa. The focus shifted to SP with her capture and release but know we have come full circle back to Dana and the choice that needs to be made.

Interesting idea. Not sure if I buy it, but I want to add something to see if it fits better on anyone else.

The intro to ILB wasn't meeting the operator. It was meeting our long distance lover, Dana. For quite some time we figured that she would be a/the central character. Perhaps your timeline might look more like...

1. Stumble upon ILB.com, meet damsel in distress Dana, prepare to do battle with operator
2. Stumble onto damsel in distress Melissa, prepare to to battle with SPDR
3. Stumble onto SP, and suddenly we're preparing to do battle with melissa, too.

4+ ...and now it looks like we're turning back the other direction. Suddenly Melissa is priority one (ratting out SP and Dana to advance the game) and then it's back to Dana, our first love. And she's got new problem (Margaret in danger)...which puts us back to the beginning.

Does that sound like a plausible topography for the game thus far? My .02, in hopes perhaps someone else can build on it.

edit: BAH! just because you can type faster, angri. Wink Gj though. Great minds think alike

Good thing my reply was shorter or my quick summary would sound silly after your longer explanation. Wink

It seems like theres always three sides to every story in halo. The convies, humans, and the forerunner(if they are still alive). Maybe their related somehow? Oh well its pure speculation.

"the enemy of my enemy is my friend"
I can't remember if this was an official Bungie hint, but a recommended strategy was whenever you came across a Flood-Cov melee, to shoot the Flood first. This kind of made the Cov your allies, but they weren't. Really they were just in Death's waiting room.
...especially when you let *just enough* of the infection forms through to take down the Cov and saved your ammo. Evil or Very Mad

One-sided battles aren't battles.
Two-sided battles require tactics.
Three-sided battles require strategy.
Any more than that and it starts looking like politics.

so true, I like how you put that...

personally, on legendary I let the battles wage without me for a while before jumping in (if it's huge), and if it's easy, screw it I'm runnin in gunnin! Very Happy keep moving and it's a lot harder to get hit. I love clearing masses of all enemies who are taken with killing each other Laughing
