HABIT swapping 'em out for whatever reason and leaving Evan as another de facto and unreliable protagonist (while the previously relatively meek Jeff becomes an aggressor) would be pretty unexpected to me. But I don't think that's happening here. Also, I'd gotten the sense in the past that HABIT can potentially affect many people at once, even if he has a primary host.

I think someone mentioned that in the last scene of twenty four months that they thought that it was Vinny drowning Evan. After seeing Dead end with a pulse it made me think that maybe Vinny kills Evan after he finds out that Evan killed Jeff? Not sure.

Okay, time for a really ridiculous ramble.

What if HABIT's main host is Alex? What got me started thinking about this was the old shot of Alex with the purple duct tape over his mouth from one of the earliest videos. If HABIT has had total control over Alex from the start, the duct tape could represent the fact that HABIT had Alex gagged, was keeping him from telling the rest of the group what was going on. Maybe when Alex seemed to wander off into Crazytown, that was actually his true self coming to the surface somewhat, but so damaged at this point by long-term possession that he wasn't in touch with reality anymore. It's probably reaching, but HABIT is obsessed with music and Alex is also the only musical member of the group. Alex was also perfectly placed to set up the videos and hack into the Twitter, email, and YouTube accounts. He also seems to have some uncanny knowledge about the monsters plaguing the boys since he gave Jeff the horn well in advance of the Jessie murder. There are probably a ton of other random coincidences I could tie into this theory, but I'm sleepy and it's been awhile since I've watched the earlier videos.

Now of course comes the question of whether or not Alex is dead and how that would play into a possbile HABIT possession angle. It seems like Alex was about to give Vinnie information that Slendy didn't want the boys to have, which led to the Alex Slushie in the plastic bag. We've more or less agreed that Vinnie is Slendy's favorite victim, due to the past Vinnie's encounters with Slendy as well as the video of Vinnie being stalked in his basement by Him. So Slendy controls Vinnie, gets him to take HABIT!Alex out into the woods and kills Alex to eliminate HABIT's main contact with the boys. So maybe now HABIT is frantic. He really, really needs to tell them whatever this is. That leads to him taking over Evan, wounding Jeff just badly enough that he can't get away, but Jeff won't die in the process. Now Jeff is a captive audience to whatever HABIT wants to communicate.

Of course, the last chunk of all that falls apart if the next video reveals Evan slashed Jeff's jugular or something else fatal.

This somewhat ties into something else that I've been considering. I know most are assuming the entity that Evan allowed to possess him to kill Nick was HABIT, but I've never been convinced of that. To me it seems both too obvious and rather out of character for HABIT. That's why I started to wonder if perhaps the Candleverse iterations are bleeding over into the Hybrids. Jeff's got missing time, Evan's always been weird, and Vinnie, even if he is completely innocent of wrongdoing, has been acting odd lately too. We've assumed it's all due to HABIT, but it just strikes me as too easy and obvious.

Someone ask him specifically if he can see the footage from Evan's house.

If he can, we reason with him.

If he can't, we say this:
"I know you guys didn't believe us at first about the hidden videos, but you have to trust us now. There is a part at the end of this video that depicts Evan, seemingly controlled by HABIT, scaring the hell out Jeff in his house. From what we understand, neither of them are dead, or going to die, but running right into this seems like an obvious trap."

...or something along those lines.

To me it means either Vinny didnt give any fucks that jeff was "getting Evan" for like a week
Or
We received the video ahead of time and the events of deadend with a pulse happened last night.
Or neither of these just a thought
