I don't think it's over.
I agree that this is a SS's coverup attempt. They are somehow aware of ARG (remember, Ron admitted to playing them on the internet) and are using that idea to get us off their backs.

This is not over. Those crew members are not real.

Don't give up!

I'm very sorry that it has ended. What a great game! Not only have I had so much fun playing along, but I've learned quite a lot about encryption, ancient history, etc.

Unfortunately, I was afraid that the PM's had no way to tie it all together. The Unraveling, the Seventh Sons puzzles, the Dream Projector, where's the final connection?

I hope the PM's didn't just get bored!!!

However, the fact that we will be having a post-game PM chat pretty much drives the nails into the coffin.

Oh.. and if there is a real reality show in 2005, and all of the contestants really die, don't say you weren't warned!!! Smile

That ending sucked, to be honest. That was what should have been the end of the 3rd act. Maybe we just didn't figure enough out in time and 'lost'? Sad Unfortunately, while the game was really enjoyable, the ending has really marred the experience for me.

I was firmly into the 'it's a game' announcement to be a great twist, but with the announcement of the chat, I'm really believing it's over. I think all of those "it's not over yet" votes are going to go firmly into the "not satisfied" column when we get more definitive proof. I'm still holding out some hope that this is a plot twist, but hope is fading fast.

If the show was going to be a mind-bending thriller based on a reality game show gone wrong, I might have watched it. But if it's really just another stupid 'reality' game show, there's no way in hell I'm tuning in. To be honest, that's not based on how this game ended. I don't watch 'reality' game shows. The writing for this game was ineresting enough that it peeked my interest in the possiblity of a show or movie based on the 'Urban Hunt' plot.

Unfortunately where this ended was better suited to be the direct lead-in to a show or movie that continued the plot. Then an incomplete story would have been acceptable. Look at the Haunted Apiary - it's definitely establishing the backdrop for Halo 2, and while I expect we'll have a few definitive answers, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a number of threads that resolve in Halo 2 and not the arg. I can already see the great ending coming for that one. This, unfortunately, was too incomplete and the target is too far on the horizon, and doesn't sound like it's going to resolve anything that came up during the game.

I've already edited and rewritten this message a bazillion times. Just looking at the traffic on the board tonight, I think everyone is in shock and confused by this ending.

Sigh... one last edit. Honestly, I really did enjoy the game, and you guys definitely put a lot of work into it, and came up with a number of fiendish puzzles. I've enjoyed participating in this ARG more than the Apiary. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to enjoy the Apiary's ending a lot more than this one's. While that adds up for more entertainment time here, the ending can really flavor the memories. I really was convinced that the 'it's a game' announcement was a brilliant 4th act twist and attempt by the SS to recover. I really wish you had one more 'act' to wrap it all up - it would have been great. And that's perhaps the most frustrating thing of all, to think about what could have been. Sad
