This. Everyone quit your bitching. if you don't like it, dont watch it. Let everyone else enjoy it.

While I disagree with them they are entitled to their opinion. I am fine with criticism and there is always stuff to bring up each entry, especially the ones with the Operator.

Still, I thought this entry was fine.

To me, it's more that we're here to discuss the entry, not how much UNFICUSER dislikes the entry, and UNFICUSER whining that nobody is patting them on the head for pointing out that they dislike the entry gets old when everyone else is, y'know, trying to discuss the entry.

If one's only point is, "Meh," say it and be done. Don't put your hand out for cookies afterward.

Guess it was just me that thought Tim was shady. I can see your point, but still...I don't know. Tim just seemed kinda sneaky in this one like not wanting to go to the other building or kinda stressing the basement.

Now that you mention it, I do remember the basement bit sort of setting off an alarm for me, because it seemed weird that Tim would think Alex would want to shoot in the basement for a crappy, not-purposefully-terrifying student film, especially if it is supposed to be the same basement that Seth was in. Maybe Timmy didn't know what it looked like down there and was just making a suggestion but... I don't know. Also even if I'm not 100% sold your Tim/Alex counterattack theory totally blew my mind when I first read it.

 Related videos and a thought

I get the impression that the "Marble Hornets" era footage of what we now in retrospect think of as Alex luring people somewhere to be Slenderized was of Alex as an Operator puppet, being controlled at least to some extent, and that the end of that first run was Entry 22, with the vanishing of Seth.
Then Alex showed up in a house and seemed to wake up with his memories gone; he speaks of his assuming that running away would have been helpful, but it was fruitless...but this seems to be more of a pre-controlled era train of thought, as clearly he had not run away entirely (though the hospital ruin was closer to where Jay USED to live);
To reconstruct, I think that at first Alex was scared and realized gradually that Slendy was there, so he started to try to run away, and was halted by TO and somewhat taken over, controlled, to gather people for TO's use...then when they were all gone, he abandoned Alex at the house with just the tape and an empty mind.
Then later on after TO found Alex, just at the end of Season One, TO evidently found a new use for Alex and he got controlled again, this time for the 'seven months' that Jay had his mind wiped for (shades of Alex's being used and being wiped). After the seven months, though, we don't know what happened (chronologically beginning just before Season 2's videos started to be posted).
Just my thinkin' at the moment. Probably not new ideas; just MY ideas.

It looks as if Alex was luring everyone to the same spot...

That's what happens when sons of bitches flake on his shooting schedule. DON'T FLAKE ON ALEX'S STUDENT FILM DAMMIT.

A pretty solid Entry, definitely building to a really significant event. I also thought the rod was a stick, especially because right as the camera falls it sounds like wood snapping. I'm also of the opinion that The Slender Man was even more off-looking than usual. Maybe it's because the distortion cut is right in his shin and it makes him look like he has long arms and short legs. And he really could stand to move more. I love the shot itself, though. Something tells me the boys have seen Tribe Twelve, because it's straight out of one of the Submission videos.

I love that Tim is getting more characterization in this. He seems like a pretty jam-up guy

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
like El Dandy

who just wants to help his friend make a movie. It'll be great when the shit hits the fan and Jay confronts Tim about the nature of the tapes and his masked exploits. Evil Alex is clearly evil by this point.

But we really need to discuss the MOST important detail of the whole series up to this point. A question that needs, nay, DEMANDS an answer:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Did Alex put Tim's little Operator back in his pants, or was it just left dangling the whole time Tim was out?

This is absolutely my new canon. Very Happy But InfernoZN said something I was thinking actually, that Alex didn't want to seriously injure Tim (though it should be noted head injuries are a lot more serious and lot easier to do than Hollywood with its constant *knock out someone with the butt of your gun* would have you think.). Except for Bruce, Slendy victims have tended to be alive. Ooo, horrible thought, what if Bruce was still alive, but just barely, after Alex finished pummeling him? Or maybe that's why Slendy didn't show up to help Alex when Tim was wrestling him for the gun in 52? Because Alex didn't give him fresh meat? Razz

I'm wondering if we'll see Jay confront Tim about this after he finishes going through the tapes.

And then they team up and fight crime.

Well, a girl can dream.

I would've liked to hear a scream or groan or something after the hit. I can't believe Tim went down on the first strike, even if he WAS distracted at the time.

This is my feeling, too. Tim said in the interview entry (#18?) that he didn't know Alex that well, he was a friend of Brian's rather than Alex's, etc. He's stumbled through his interactions with Alex in the past few entries, nervously pitching the trip idea, his phone going off during shooting, and this entry where his pitch isn't working out so well, his buffer (Brian) isn't there, and Alex won't explain what he's looking for.

All this, on top of the paranoia and so forth that he's seeing a doctor about. It'd set my anxiety off, at least. It might explain why he didn't want to go to the annex, too. He's burned out on the whole experience, and just wants to get home and away from the situation.

I think that at this point Jay is well past the stage of "break-the-cutie" he can't even manage to be bothered anymore. Kinda sad, actually.

Am I the only one who heard a squeaky door opening at 3:18 when Alex says "let's go up" ?

Yeah, I agree. I enjoyed the entry well enough, even though it wasn't oh-shit action-packed, and actually just showed us something we already pretty much knew happened.

That said, I'd like to point out something to everyone: This is an ARG, or at least it's something close, and it's meant to be enjoyed from the suspension-of-disbelief standpoint that this is "all really happening". Even if you don't choose to enjoy it that way, I think it's important to keep in mind that other people do look at it like that, and choose to "play along" with that. It's part of the genre.

I guess what I'm getting at is that when the first thing you do after watching an entry is nit-pick every little thing you don't like about how they filmed it ("should have used a bigger stick", "the Operator looks lame", "conveniently knocked over the camera") you're immediately breaking that immersion experience for everyone else.

Yes, Marble Hornets is wide open. Yes, most 'players' are past the full immersion point. Even so, for the vast majority of us still 'playing', the point is to pick apart the videos to piece together the puzzle that the MH crew are laying out for us, not to pick apart the videos for technical aspects that we just don't like.

TL;DR: Criticism of filming styles and how the MH crew chooses to tell their story is OUT OF GAME commentary and as such belongs in its own thread, not in the main thread for an entry.
