Not just 'Bones', either--Phi Delta Sigma on the column, emphasis on the Sigma.

If Tim's Sigma, who's Phi and Delta?

(Or am I seeing it wrong? Theta? Damned if I know, I took Latin.)

10 pages already? Geez people you have no lives. (Says me as I sit here after midnight on an Internet forum talking about fictional characters like they're real.)

All right, so, 1 I noticed the BONES graffiti and I'm inclined to agree with the person who said it was just the creators messing with us due to the "bone closet" shenanigans. Mainly because it's in the same paint as the Operator symbol. As for that, it almost seems like Alex is being hypnotized, but then again even before he had the creepy monotone going on that he did when he "sacrificed" Brian. So it's possible the Operator symbol is a way to summon the Slenderator.

Also I like the theory that next we'll see Alex "getting rid" of either Sarah or Jay (or both). Honestly I want to see what made Alex think Jay was "gone". And as much as I'd like to believe Alex is totally brainwashed and crazy I'm wondering if he was simply lying at the end of Entry 22.

Lastly, I want to say that I actually think the Operator was kind of cool in this one. He really seemed unnaturally thin, which he's kind of supposed to be.

And he totally knocked over that camera for spite. Totally.

Also did Jay say he only had 1 tape left?

Taking all bets! All bets now.

2:1 odds that 1 tape takes him 2 weeks.

I still wonder how that symbol got there.

I don't know, but I'm finally getting to the point where I don't think it's some kind of protective rune anymore.

A few theories:

The Final Fantasy VIII theory: Alex has been here before. They all have, actually, because they were all stalked by the Operator when they were kids, they just don't remember it for some reason. The Operator symbol has been here since way back then--and it holds some kind of power that seems to stir something in Alex.

Summoning theory: Alex painted the symbol in the moment before Tim came into the room, to call the Operator.

Trap theory: The Operator symbol has power over Alex, and Tim knows this. That's why he came before this entry and doodled in an operator symbol. What he intended for it to accomplish is unclear, and it's fairly safe to assume things didn't go as planned for our dear masky-to-be.

I'd also like to suggest that whatever happened, I don't think that Alex came here intending to do what he did. It seems very clear to me that the Operator symbol was a clicking point for Alex. My reasoning:

1. Alex did not bring a weapon. He improvised using a random discarded pipe. Alex is cunning, and I think that if he intended to attack Tim, he'd have brought a weapon of his own choosing.

2. Alex didn't try to gain an advantage over Tim. Nothing like "why don't you check out that room over there" or anything. It seems pretty clear to me that Alex (pushed or possessed by the Operator) took advantage of the moment when Tim effectively distracted himself.

3. Before this point, Tim did not consider Alex a dangerous man. If he did, why would he come to this place, alone and theoretically unarmed, and then turn his back and drop his pants? No, they may not have been getting along by this point (it's more than likely after the gazebo incident) but I'm suspecting that Alex hadn't outwardly displayed any major red flags for Tim.

My first thought, honestly, was "why does Tim keep focusing on Alex's butt?"

That being said, Tim seemed REALLY suspicious during it, and I was expecting HIM to attack ALEX at first; he seemed insistent they stay in that particular building rather than go to the annex next door. I felt it was more suspicious than "ugh Alex just be receptive already".

No. This thread is for discussion of the entry; I should think it would include on the quality of it as well.

I don't think it matters whether it's a pipe or a stick; the fact is Alex smacked Tim with it and presumably knocked him out.

I'm not really sure the point of having The Operator in the entry, though, besides maybe hammering home "ALEX IS BAD". :/

I think this might play into a theory I've had about Season 1 for a while. Alex had absolutely no intention of burning those tapes. He wanted Jay to watch them. He carefully handpicked tapes that would make it look like he, Alex, was the victim.

I like this theory.

I don't think the graffiti--besides the Operator symbol--was added by the crew, though; I doubt they'd do that (because graffiti is bad, kids).

Finally, I saw someone over on Tumblr put forth the idea that this could be where Tim's Masky personality was born; he was wearing the jacket, he got smacked in the head, and cue coughing.

Ultimate plot twist would be Jay getting killed for ultimate WTF shenanigans.

My favorite thing about this board, and I really mean it, is that you make out Troy, Joseph, and Tim, to be these masters of subtlety. A beast composed of sheer unbound complexity Marble Hornets is not. It's pretty simple, really, but with several lingering questions. Chances are, when they want us to really notice something, they make it pretty obvious. But you wonderful folks will leave no proverbial stone unturned, and end up coming up with a plot infinitely more complex and compelling than what MH actually is.

Just thought I'd share that. On with the madness.

That's cute. You pose it as if there's a chance of anything else.

Hm.

Speaking of grafitti, on the right hand side of the front entrance...at 1:45.

Did it say DIE and below it looks like a painting of TO?
Just his head and an arm/tentacle reaching up? Aw, just my imagination.

Anyway, solid entry... I think they both sounded very odd, hostile and nervous towards each other.

A few things confound me about this. I like the theory that this is NOT premeditated (by Alex at least) based almost solely on the fact that Tim is showing Alex the place, supposedly for the first time. When I saw the operator symbol (dead slendy give-away) I thought that maybe this is where it begins and this place IS the Ark and "birthplace" of slendy. But there's a problem with this. Tim HAS been here before. So, either there's something special about Alex or Tim was leading Alex to a trap and it backfired. There's also the possibility that this goes back much farther and Alex never really wanted to make a movie but glorify his "sacrifices," thus why he was asking if anyone knew someplace abandoned.

Well, we know that Tim has a history with symptoms that are at least similar to slendysickness. Tim's also a mental health patient and this building was apparently once a hospital. Maybe the "annex" was the mental health department of the hospital, and Tim didn't want to go down there because he has had memories of that place. He ends up down there in Entry #51 anyway, but he was supposedly slendy-sick or maskified (w/o the mask) at the time so he could've done anything really.

...

In other news, I hope that we don't get an Entry that shows Alex trying to off Jay in 2006, because Entry #13 fits that bill pretty well. The corresponding totheark video, "Exit" is footage of TTA spying on Jay when he goes to get Alex's spare camera battery from his car. It's unlikely that TTA existed prior to "Alex's Big Series of Ambushes", so Entry #13 must come later.

I still don't think that it belongs in the on-topic game thread. We have a bitching thread for a reason.

Are you daft? It could easily take 3 weeks. Sid's sure to return before Entry 57.
