Wow! congrats! Seemed like nobody could get past #1 just a half hour ago.

Can someone please tell me the answer to #1? I'd like to play the other puzzles before they pull it down. PM it to me if you want.

I won't tell you the answer but here is how to get it:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The letters are A TO M which leads to ATOM which leads to ATOMic numbers. Look them up on the periodic table and it will spell out the first answer.

 		Congrats to all!! If anyone can pm me how you solved the 4th puzzle with stars. I spent all day looking at the same image unable to translate it. I'm done so if someone could spoil it for me that would be a nice consolation.

I'll give you another hint for number 2. Nate all but gave away the answers on the Facebook page with the playing cards thing. But where are those pictures?

Scroll down to the bottom of the timeline and you will find the two pictures you need. Each one will provide you with 5 letters to the answer.

Try and work it out from there or post and someone will expand on how to solve it.

 		Ok, here we go.
FIRST, how the heck to you get to the puzzle in the first place? At first I found it the 'wrong' way as most who found it did I think. The day the contest officially started, they changed the page for the contest rules. I'm not sure if the URL was any different, but I took notice that it included the word 'metapuzzle' and shortened it to that and voila there is the puzzle page. Later it still bugged me that I hadn't found the proper way to get there. After thinking about the clue more - BFHAKDAD or Butterfinger hacked ad - I looked around at their ads, starting with the page headers, footers, and the old time ad. Nada. Then it occurred to me to have a look at their Youtube account. Sure enough there was an old ad there but at the top of the upload list. Watching that you see a bunch of glyphs pass by, the first of which says

Add that to funforhumans.com and get to the puzzle the right way. I won't comment on how the hell we were supposed to make that connection to YT in the first place. Rolling Eyes

So, on to #1 - would have been WAAAAY easier had I realized what the alphabet was there for first

Nate gave the hint for #2 IN THE CARDS

Under 1923 on the timeline clear at the bottom of the FB page, there are 2 images of Otto playing cards, both of which show a poker hand. First hand is A of clubs, Q of clubs, 9 of clubs, 5 of clubs, A of diamonds. Second hand is 10 of spades, 2 of spades, 5 of spades, Q of hearts, 4 of hearts. To solve this, use what is called the half deck cipher. A-K of black suits are 1-13, A-K of red suits are 14-26, then converting the numbers to letters. For the first hand, this gives you ALIEN. The second hand give you gibberish, so reverse the cipher (red 1-13, black 14-26) which gives you WORLD. #2 is ALIENWORLD


The clue for #3 is OTOMETSAM, or Otto met Sam. Sam? Sam who?

This goes to the Morse code I deciphered from the phone message at the number from the old candy ad. Sam is Samuel Morse. The code translated to AZIMUTH.


#4 the clue for this was RITENINTHESTARS (written in the stars)

Interspersed in the pages of the diary that had the drawings of constellations that led to ORION was a second puzzle. Each of the 7 pages had a word capitalized somewhat out of context
the Sun
the Star
the World
the Magician
the Moon
the Hierophant
the Sun
each of these is referring to a tarot card of the major arcana, and each has a number associated with it. 19-17-21-1-18-5-19. Convert to letters and you get SQUARES


Clue for #5 is WATWILHAPENATTWELVTWENTEON (what will happen at twelve twenty-one)

This is another one where I question how we were to get this reasonably. On the page linked to by clicking on the bowl of water, if you simply waited for the clock to hit 12:21, you would be presented with a 'special' image for one minute. Presumably this had something to do with the constellation Pegasus. Answer then was PEGASUS.

This gets us to the penultimate clue for #6, PUTITALTOGETHAR (put it all together)

As luck would have it, taking the first letter of ATTENTION, the second letter of ALIEN, etc. spelled out ALIAS. Boom goes the Edesia Machine

 		And btw, I hate the way contests make us play things close to our vests. I pride myself on being very forthcoming and working with the hive-mind here on regular games. Even with the stakes involved it still doesn't sit right with me to hold back information. I hope everyone involved here decides to stick around an play a game or two purely for the sport of it (and maybe the occasional bit of swag Wink).

These were the puzzles that would take a day, these were puzzles that would take a week, and these puzzles they'd probably never figure out until we broke down and gave them the answers. ... The Cloudmakers solved all of these puzzles on the first day.

 		Did anyone look at the end is near section? I wonder if they have more contests like this coming up...

Looks like it will be about June 25th for what ever the van would be, October 1st for the head, and December 10th for the party or dancing.
