Reading up on the health products is a nice way of finding out all the horrible shit that is likely going to happen to the Prometheus crew.

Quote:
"Procedures include everything from diagnosis and treatment of infection through concentrated antibiotic injections, basic wound repair, appendectomy, laparoscopic ablation and Cesarean section."

Yeesch.

Also, this is very interesting:

Quote:
"... the Synapse Reestablisher ... awakens dormant neurons in the brain tissue of deceased or dying patients."

Also...look what's back:

Yeah baby!

You and me both; I sat here with my wife and we watched it five times in a row, just awestruck.

I revisited Bladerunner the last couple nights and just took in the whole thing, marveling at how Scott managed to make one of the best looking films of all time so long ago and with none of today's craft.

Prometheus will be the film that all sci-fi/horror efforts to come will now be judged against. There are so very few directors who can encapsulate and conjure a so thoroughly fleshed out world down to the finest details..

I've never been more excited in regards to a film as I am to this one. IMO its already earned its place at the top and its not even released yet. Scott can shake vomit in a bag and still pour out gold.

Trailer Deconstruction

I am currently de-constructing the trailer.

Extracting it at 10 pictures per second of film.

For 2 reasons; one because some of the frames in the trailer are awesome (desktop wallpaper jobs) and the other reason is there were some bits in the trailer that were really quite quick and hard to see.

If there is anything of interest (blue flashes appeared again, for example), I'll post it. Obviously not all 1741 pictures (unless you want me to upload a zip file with them all in it) but any super cool or thought provoking ones.

Edit:

I kept crashing at that frequency of screenshots.

Cutting it back to 5 pics a second (868 total).

Pics

I just realised after getting them that I only DLd the low res vid Mad

However, the pics are still kinda cool.

5 pics per second didn't get good results so I went back up to 10 and split the trailer in half.

If anyone is even remotely interested, they are attached as zip files.

Some of my faves are also attached:

  • The cool snake thing (I want one)
  • The dead creature (I don't really want one)
  • The exploding/hatching egg (WTF is this all about? And what is "hatching" from within it?)
  • The mutated dude/creature/hybrid/wtfever-it-is attacking guy in space suit
  • David meeting the SJs (or at least holographic representation of them).

Some other cool ones but this post is going to be huge anyway.

The others are attached if you want to take a look.

Sorry for the long post Sad

Cheers.

There's more than one Space Jockey in that shot! I only saw one that was approaching him in the trailer, nice catch.

To be honest though, while I loved this one (kept me in the edge of my seat), I think it showed WAY too much. For instance, the snake-thing? That was unnecessary, I wanted to be surprised by it, same goes for the helmet melting on the dude's face... It was an amazing scene, but it was so thoroughly spoiled by this trailer.

I can't hate on it though, it was so cool nonetheless!

I've been looking on the Weyland site and now I cannot locate it, but there was some mention of a technology that allowed the David to see holographic images of other beings' thoughts.

Does anyone know where this is at? Its clearly the tech that is behind the Jockey images seen in the new footage, but no one on the two main Prometheus forum sites seems to have caught on yet.

I think you're talking about the VR HELMET. It had been on the Electronics page when it "leaked" but was no longer there when all the product pages opened up.

I can't find a screenshot anywhere, but 2fray2 did post the item titles/descriptions a few pages back:

MODULE 3.0
A BETTER WORLD OF INNOVATION

Weyland Industries employs over 800 million citizens. As such, our products and electronics are the most advanced, most efficient and most highly intelligent on the market.

Our bio-sensors can detect trace amounts of toxic contaminants, making workplaces safer. Our FTT devices and holographic controls make scientific research easier. And our micron-sized platinum-doped laser position sensors make everything from terraforming equipment to weapons-tech smaller, lighter and faster. Our innovations are working harder in every home and every industry sector to make your world better.

Developed by Weyland's world-class materials scientists and electrical engineers on Gliese 581, all innovations undergo rigorous testing at the New Products Testbed facilities at Henri Gaston. We use only the most advanced rare materials extracted from mines across the galaxy, and our nobel-prize winning physicists and materials engineers hold the leading number of patents in the fields of lasers, nanotechnology, and microfabrication. Many products using this technology will soon be making history as part of the highly-anticipated Prometheus mission.

MODULE 3.1
FEATURED PRODUCTS
SPECTAGRAPH

This next-generation device, used by Weyland geologists and engineers, surveys unknown planetary terrain in the pre-terraforming process. An omni-directional laser live-maps 3D topography and sends the detailed scanned images to the viewing platform. New hyper-conducting spherical shell allows smooth, self-propelled flight in any atmosphere. Polymer film bio-sensors can detect airborne toxins and life forms down to 500 nanometers.

VR HELMET

The VR helmet represents brand new technology designed to enhance the function of latest Weyland android, David 8. All new David 8 models will be VR-compatible. The helmet taps into David 8's expanded neural network and translates human thought, dreams or unconscious experience into images. The VR helmet senses the brain activity of a human subject, then enlists the high data processing rate of the David 8 to translate billions of synapse firings into visual data.

HOLOGRAPHIC ENVIRONMENT SIMULATOR

Invented in 2024. Perfected in 2073. The Holographic Environment Simulator (HES) can provide audio, visual and kinesthetic enhancement to any room, anywhere. The HES picks up live video feed from a remote receiver and fills any space with the sights and sounds of that environment in real-time. The HES can also recreate a full-surround environment of a specific location from any point in time for academic study or personal entertainment.

BROCA DIALETICAL IMPLANT

Requiring no actual language-learning by the user, the Broca Dialectical Implant is the first of its kind. Embedded Interpretation Software (EIS) translates incoming dialects of any origin into fluent comprehension for the Broca user. An exclusive innovation from Weyland Electronics.

It looks like the HES was renamed the WMCD, and the VR HELMET & BROCA DIALETICAL IMPLANT were replaced with the HOLOTAB.

Eitr

Eitr is listed on the primary resource key on the Investor Information area. Googled it and found this. May be worth a dig.

I know I've been asking more questions that contributing ideas lately... sorry.. but I was thinking again about the images that they wanted us to 'study' in high res, the Prometheus ship itself, the Med Pod, and the Transport.

Going back to what some of us had noticed, that if you adjust the contrast and or levels in Photoshop, etc, bits of code seem to show up... I've played around with piecing them together and haven't really discovered anything. Anyone else try beyond what was stated here way back when?

Also, on a separate note, since someone else brought up the 'Invest In Your Future' page on the Weyland site, under 'Financial Highlights' (and for that matter the only place on the whole page) the change in the Stock Share Price is highlighted in green, and it's the only thing that's green. Are they calling that out on purpose?

Any ideas?

Carmot is also listed. Apparently it's the element thought to be used to create the Philosopher's Stone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosopher's_stone). This could be looked into as well
