Dear "dmax",
Thank you for writing me. Several people have indeed written me to inform me
that at least one of these pages may have been found in a place called Aglaura,
NJ in the States. I am currently following up on that information.
If you have information other than this or know of another "page sighting", I
would most certainly be interested in discussing what you know.

Sincerely,
Colin Penrose

Missing manuscript

Dear Sunny
Thank you for your message about a possible location for one of these pages,

Dear Dan,
This Mr. Sprague certainly seems to have quite a few friends. In fact, I
believe I heard from Mr. Sprague himself, or at least someone claiming to be
him. He is the one who wrote me and claims to have actually seen and held this
page in his hands. If this is true, I'm very encourgaed by this news.
I'm afraid I'm not certain what the nine symbols in the middle of the
manuscript page represent. I also have a few theories, including the idea that
maybe they represent steps along a path of knowledge. Or perhaps symbolic
representations of sections within the "Fourth Book." I'm not really sure but I
am anxious to hear your thoughts.
In the interest of sharing information, here's another page that links to a few
more pictures from the envelope. Let me know if these look familiar or mean
anything to you. And please, be careful about spreading anything I tell you
around. The other materials inside the envelope lead me to believe that
something about looking for this "Fourth Book" has gotten people killed along
the way.

Anyone out there on chat getting this? I'm behind the firewall.

To this letter I replied:
Quote:
Mr. Penrose,

This is quite helpful! I can assure you that I'll keep your information within a safe group of friends that I trust. I wouldn't be so bold as to suggest that I could evaluate this information alone. I'm afraid that it sometimes helps to have a fresh pair of (friendly) eyes looking alongside.

I'm glad that you've heard from Mr. Sprague. At times, he's completely out of touch with me and I fear for his safety and health. When was the last that you heard from him, if I may be so bold? It's been a few days since I've had contact.

The nine symbols certainly have some possible meaning. I know that a colleague had suggested some possible interpretations. I'll try to summarize those in a later correspondence, if you'd like.

And, not to be dense, but I don't see anything in the photographs that suggest that people's lives were in danger. Can you expand on that a bit more. (Just so I know how careful to be when I step outside my office....)

Thanks again,

Dan

Dear Mr. S:
I'm glad you appreciated the additional photographs that I sent to you. I have
been developing some theories about the nine symbols in question and believe
I'm getting a little closer every day to understanding them.

As far as my comments about people being endangered - I really cannot reveal a
great amount of detail to you but one piece of evidence is apparent from what
you've already seen. According to the note on the envelope, at least one person
has already died over these documents.

I have spent much of my time since our last e-mail exchange making my initial
forays into winning Dame Willingham's confidence, as well as gathering my
resources states-side for possible activity. Unfortunately, honesty and decorum
do not permit me to claim much success along those lines yet, but she has no
idea how persistent and persuasive I can be.

Any further assistance that you may be in the position to render would, of
course, be greatly appreciated. I will extend to you and the others you may be
working with the same courtesy of keeping you abreast of my ongoing efforts.

Ah, the thrill of the hunt!

Colin Penrose

Andrea:
Thank you quite a bit for the heads up about the similar pages that may be located in Aglaura, New Jersey, in the US. Some other people have written me about this possibly significant find as well, and from the preliminary follow-ups I've been doing, I'm very encouraged that this may be the real thing.
Unfortunately, it seems the person who currently claims to be in possession of these items, one Phyllis Willingham, hasn't been too forthcoming in returning my initial attempts to contact her. She doesn't know, however, how persistent I can be.
Again, thank you.

New email from Colin Penrose, nothing much there though.

Thank you so much for your e-mail offering assistance in perhaps discussing this matter with Mrs. Willingham. I will certainly keep you in mind if the other arrangements I have already put into motion are not fruitful. Some of the research I've done into the various elements of the story that has been related to me about this trunk and its contents do indeed lead me to be very encouraged about the possible authenticity of this page. In fact, so much so, that I have made arrangements to have some "associates" of mine make contact with Mrs. Willingham in a much more personal manner, in hopes of gaining possession of or at least getting a look at the document in question. You Yanks can be downright stubborn at times and Dame Willingham is a prime example. She doesn't know the resources at my disposal, however.Until I can resolve a few other outstanding issues and possibly related leads and get stateside myself, though, this will have to do. With any luck, it's a trip I may not have to make.I do appreciate your generous offer of assistance and I will certainly be in touch with you if I feel you can aid in my work in any way.

Wonder what his "associates" are up to?

I'll bet he's hired the Marzano brothers to make Phyllis "an offer she can't refuse".
