Actually, I turned 20 three days before the first axons went hot. Kind of a pathetically cool birthday present. I envy those who're born on Nov. 9th... hehe.

Though my boyfriend says there'll be a lot of John's born on Nov 9th this year... Probably while their fathers play Halo in the waiting room (since they won't be able to be at their local gaming store to pick up the preordered copy of Halo 2)

I'm 16. Am I the youngest here? No way.

I, at first, was quite surprised at the average age and the range of ages of the ARG community. When I started out, I thought everyone was in my age range. (Teens - Early Twenties). Oh well.

I "fit" this stereotype for another two and a half months. I hate these generalizations more than anything. Gamers aren't just little kids anymore. I'm willing to bet there are about as many 20+ gamers as there are 12-18. Gamers are gamers, they get to grow old, too. Rolling Eyes

I've been playing games since I was a wee child. My dad had an Atari, and a very old Tandy computer that I would play Pole Position and Wheel of Fortune on. NES came out a few years later and I was in heaven. I don't think I've ever put a controller down since. Razz (I even got my grandma addicted to Tetris. Until the day she died in 2001[age 68], she played a good hour of Tetris before she went to sleep every night.)

Frankly, I don't ever plan to stop playing games. I'll be the old man with the virtual reality visor on my head. See you then. Very Happy

Hmm...

Oh, this is entertaining.

What would be even more entertaining is trying to estimate the age of those who have not given it.

thebruce, I'm surprised -- I thought you were older, and I intend that as a compliment. daboking, I thought you were younger (not intended not to be a compliment) -- you're so enthusiastic; most people I know in your age range seem a bit more jaded.

Okay, weephun, I'm estimating 25.

Hmm. We know HitsHerMark is in college...maybe 20?

angelo, I'm guessing 21 or 22.

ohhh, this could be fun. OK, I noticed you did not give your age? Well, since you seem far from rampant, and yet a walking encyclopedia, I am guessing 6 years old??? I bet I am right, aren't I. Wink

Mmm -- as I put in another post, I turned seven last Wednesday.

Mwahaha. Me, rampant? What? Twisted Evil

Let's see, Nuriko, 20?

i was just talking to my girlfriend about this yesterday (before i even saw the thread) saying how nearly everyone here is either a college student, or a post-college young adult, i'm 26
i guess its the more cerebral nature of ARG's that attracts an older crowd

i wonder what the demographic would have looked like if this poll was asked in the first month of the game? my guess would be a bit younger as all the gamer kids jumped in with their ridiculous theories

Then who is? I'm not talking about some people who come in after hearing about it on IGN, starts catching some trout, and then leaves because it's too complicated. I don't doubt I'm not the youngest one here, but I would like to see who the youngest is that has stuck throughout the entire game.

weephun us november9ers have to stick together... 25 going on 26 father of (almost two) and climbing up the corporate ladder when not wasting valuable company resources on a marketing ploy by one of the largest corporations in the world. Xbox owner and long time "gamer" (once i use that term it will go out of style) Had the old Atari and NES went with sega in the early and mid 90's and in my single days spent WAY too much time in the arcade by my school(i might add that i lived w/someone b/c of their proximity to the arcade.) But, like most addicts no one really knew how bad my gaming addiction was.. My wife was actully suprised at how much i Sad used to play. ....My name is Scarr and I'm a gameaholic Rolling Eyes

I'm an 18-year-old freshman at Arizona State University (obviously) by way of Ohio. I'm incredibly lucky in that this type of game was essentially made for my friends and I. You know? It's a combination of everything we love: internet, video games, puzzle solving, doing weird sxxt in public, and getting phone calls from mysterious AIs from the future. Talk about target audience!

I've only had to skip two classes so far, there've been 8-12 axons on campus since week 3, and, well, you know the stories about the infamous ASU Bee sign. (It's not like everyone has the chance to hijack CNN and MSNBC during presidential debate coverage.) I bought PC Halo last week and am furiously reading the three books as well. And - I know you'll all think I'm functionally retarded for this - I just bought a plane ticket to San Francisco with the last of my summer job money.

So yeah. I think the lesson in all of this is that playing this game has nothing to do with how old you are - you just have to be entirely, utterly effing crazy. Very Happy

P.S. The brutal irony is that I'm horrible at Xbox Halo and I'm still kind of ambivalent about if I even like that frickin' game at all. I just really love bees Very Happy
