Does anyone else do this? Entries to iTunes randomness Ever since I got into the series, I've been collecting the videos, putting them in order in my iTunes so I have them readily available to watch whether I've got internet access or not.
Don't give me that look, I've bought the DVDs and a t-shirt, so I'm not cheating Team Hornets out of any money.
That said, when I put them into iTunes, I give the entries a new title, a quick little one or two word thing that reminds me what happens in each entry.
So my question is-
Does anyone else do that?
If so, do you rename the entries?
If so, what names have you given your entries?
I fully expect I'm the only one who does this, so I won't be surprised if I get Zero-With-An-X-Throught-It responses.

Re: Does anyone else do this? Entries to iTunes randomness you're the only one who does that. i think it's sad that i can remember everything about every entry off the top of my head, i've seen each entry way too many times.

Ah.
Fair enough then if no one else does it. Well done on the memory, though. I wish I could remember stuff first off like that.
As for why I sign my messages "Tycho," there's a very good reason.

Well, I've downloaded all the entries from YouTube, and stored them on my external drive.
I originally did that so I'd have them even when I was offline. Eventually, when I started the MO podcast, I used the downloaded copies to rip audio clips from to use on the show.

Wouldn't it be easier to just...make it your signature?

Or your username?
You don't need to "sign" posts on a message board; your account is displayed next to every single one.

It's a thing that's been carried over from Facebook, where I sign all my comments with my first initial. I was asked over there why I do it, and it's basically because I want to.
I could just make it my signature, but it's not like it takes a staggering amount of time to type six characters, so I don't worry about it.

I don't see what's so weird about signing your name at the end of a message. Why is that even a topic of discussion?
I've saved all the entries to my hard drive as well. I originally did it so that I could pull videos apart to look at frame-by-frames and stuff. I never thought to give them descriptive titles, but now that there's well over 30 entries I'm wishing I had done that.

Using descriptive titles is actually a really good idea
That said, I remember a lot of important entries' numbers. I have more trouble with the earlier ones because I only started watching just after Entry #22 was posted.

Because it's the Internet.
I don't know that they're really descriptive things, more like episode titles.
For instance...
Entry 7: Filming Brian
Entry 27: Resumption
Entry 41: Into the Woods
Entry 42: Out of the Woods
Entry 48: Jay in Rosswood Park
Entry 49: Alex in Rosswood Park
Stuff like that.

That's actually pretty cool. I like your titles. It could probably be good for when you want to just check certain scenes out again and get the finer details.
I'm always trying to actively remember which each of the entries are. I'm still a little rusty on a few, but I'm pretty dang good with most of them.

Sometimes I'll just go to the youtube channel and look at random entries I haven't seen in a while. I can usually remember each by their number.

Do they have to be saved as MP4s in order to do this?

Mine are automatically saved into mp4s. Of course, I've noticed that KeepVid.com allows you to download in different formats. I haven't tried any of the other formats, but they do have mp4, and they all played on my iPod when I downloaded them, so I had Marble Hornets on the go.
My first time through the series, I saw a couple of entries sitting in a dark movie theater with only two other people in the entire building in the middle of the damn night.
Want to talk about paranoid? Yeah.

To add them to itunes do I have to just click
file > add file to library
or do I have to do something fancy because it's a video and not a song? Either I'm retarded or itunes is hard to use.
