Could it be tap code?

It would translate to IMA ("I'm a"?).

And KwLFl with ROT-8 gives you SeTNT.

While I'm not sure "I'm a set" makes sense, I'm pretty sure about the Caesar shift, because the extra "NT" also appears in the solution that beastriker/booba found.

My only thought for the triple coordinates is that maybe the first two numbers refer to the sudoku puzzle, and then the resulting number is used with the third coordinate as a tap code. But that's impossible, because 10 and 6 can't appear in tap codes. Maybe you just use it with the sudoku game again? I don't know. I'll look at it more later.

If it is tap code (which it looks like it is) the last letter isn't 'a,' it's 'g,' which would give us "img."

Oh, derp. True. My bad.

At least "IMG" is actually a thing. Image set?

Maybe? I dunno. The capital letters might have some kind of actual significance. Maybe there's an actual image we're trying to find?

Picking up where all of your good work left off...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
As you all said the tap code is IMG so changing the file name on the Sudoku image with the five letter code underneath gives us

http://i.imgur.com/KwLFl.png

which has Morse Code that decodes to a hex string which decodes to a decimal string which decodes to the text

fi-x-er

This leads to a new tumblr

That code with the 3 coordinates still has me pretty stumped:
Code:
(2,1,3) | (4,1,3) | (5,2,3) | (7,1,10) | (5,4,6) | (8,2,4) |

I want to believe that the solution to the first code (LAFONTAINE) has something to do with it. LAFONTAINE has 10 letters, which could have some link to the (7,1,10) coordinate somehow. But I haven't come up with anything yet. Anyone else got an idea?

Got me thinking... Here we go:

(ALF)|(OLF)|(NAF)|(ALE)|(NOT)|(IAO)

That's using LAFONTAINE as a start for the aforementioned "coordinates." I might be off by a letter or two...

I got nothing more.

I see some Q&A posts on the fiXer tumblr:
Quote:
Anonymous asked:
In the challenge you sent to the Tungsten Tribune, did you mean to include 2 additional letters to the first code to spell LAFONTNTAINE or did you mean to just spell LAFONTAINE? Does the answer to the first code figure in to the solution of the 2nd code?

As previously mentioned, some puzzles require intellectual leaps to solve.

Also, some things share the same name.

LaFontaine is the name of an individual, but it is also the name of something else, is it not?

What needs to be fixed?

Many things need fixing.

The current problem has yet to show its face.

You will see soon enough.

What are these tests for exactly?

The tests are to asses your problem-solving skills.

There will be more of them to come.

They may even help you with the task at hand.

I look forward to seeing what you can do.

and the lastest entry says:

So, you've found me.

But you haven't yet solved the puzzle in its entirety yet, have you?

When you've accomplished this, then, perhaps, we will speak.

Until then,

so, keep up the brainstorming!

As for the hint, it points to both Governor Amadeus Marco LaFontaine and LaFontaine Industries (previously Espinoza Industries)

LAFONTNTAINE as a rebus- NT in LAFONTAINE?

NTN LAFONTAINE?

Still trying, but I got nothing.

Well, since the hint is obviously pointing to the correlation between the character LaFontaine and the company LaFontaine, maybe there's a hint on the LaFontaine Industries page? I'm not very good with codes, but it could be some kind of cipher based on the website, right? Like, how many pages link from there? Maybe that could be the key?

Meanwhile, there have been several new posts this week added to the Tribune, including a crossword puzzle.

btw, i've been tracking every mention of a character's name in all of the sites, and I'm up to 115 people now! Also, i'll edit my earlier post to add another blog I had overlooked.

what stands out to me most in this update is the number of deaths, the ad for a private inspector and the large number of city council members that came out. this might add up to be a futuristic detective story similar to Blade Runner

What's also interesting is that sexuality doesn't seem to be an issue at all... what's really at play is class status and power. A young couple committed suicide because the parents of a young man that were well off were trying to marry him to the daughter of another rich family. His girlfriend was not from a rich and powerful family.
