I just keep refreshing recipe7 to get the latest wavs to transcribe... but I'm keeping up on all the forum posts - all - just never caught the moving text reference yet... (bah, the pain of editing posts - no one gets notified of the change, just for new posts)

EDIT AGAIN: And gone within a couple mintues. Wow, that was fast. Is the caller actually going to have to call someone who is sitting in front of a computer shouting, "Quick! Find it! Melissa is going to hang up!"

When I got my call today (09:02), she asked me for the code phrase. I gave her the first one, and she told me it was no longer valid - did I know the new one? I said no, that when I had left, that was displayed. She said it was a test of our communication between the field and 'home base' (my words, can't recall what she called it), and did I have the means to get the information. Luckily, something told me to jot down the phone numbers, so I said that I could use my secondary communication device to do so. She gave me 90 seconds.

And then anyone watching me got to witness a spontaneous juggling act. If anyone has seen the picture of my axon, the handset is split in half and requires two hands to use. Since I was alone, I had to pull out my slip of paper with the numbers, flip open my cell phone while trying to balance at least the earpiece on my shoulder, watch the wind pick the slip of paper out of my glasses case, lean over at the length of the phone cord to just barely reach the numbers, dial one-shaky-handed, groan in frustration as I dial the wrong number, then finally get through to angelo. Him being The Man and all, I was able to get the code. She asks me to repeat it, I do so. She says she thinks she heard me right, but repeat it louder. I almost yell it, and she's happy. I thank angelo (thinking he must think I'm nuts to keep repeating the phrase back to him), hang up with him, finish the call with Melissa, and finally take a bow.

No, not really on the last part.

As I leave, the wife calls to tell me she fractured her ankle at work and can I come get her from the emergency room. (She's okay.) Two minutes earlier, and it would have disrupted the delicate circus act.

I know I called you back, angelo, but again, thanks for the help. You rock.

Well, I just took my "personal" call and said "bees" (wait) and then "fleas" and it worked. It definitely also sounded like both Melissa AND the SP were talking at once.

So all I can say is that it doesn't seem to hurt to try both...

I said "a bee" for all of my calls and it was accepted each time.

I was with the group that answered the 11:04PDT live call in Ames, IA. I am so glad I wrote down the numbers to call before I left to pick up my husband on the way to the Axon. I thought to myself, this is our first time out. What are the chances of a live call? But, I thought we should find out the latest info anyway. Thanks so much, buzzkill for giving us the info! We got the "exchange a word" one. We just needed the text marker phrase and the page...not the time stamp for some reason.

We were asked for our squad name...the four of us who were there kind of looked at each other (it was my husband and I and two other people who didn't know each other either) and my husband said "The Cyclones" (that's the mascot for Iowa State U, which is here in Ames). We were then asked for our cheer...the only thing we could think of was "Go Cyclones!" We were told it was short, but it would do. Laughing
