I had a friend signup last weekend and she hasn't gotten anything from ETQ yet. I sent an email at the beginning of the week and no reply.

When do we declare that this ARG has flatlined?

From infoSPLATenterthequest.com:

We're back!

Due to changes in our organization and our design team, we had to temporarily shut down day-to-day operations as we restructure. However, we are rebuilding our team and are committed to creating games that not only entertain, but change lives.

We sincerely apologize to our former and current members and hope you will rejoin our mission.

The coordinates seem to point to the Palace of Westminster. Specifically, the Central Tower.

And from the homepage:
Quote:
Our Next Project begins May 17, 2012
"How to be a Genius" will consist of a series of interrelated stories and games, some of them created by our design team, others by our members. Episode One: "Smashing Clocks," will go live on 5-17-2012. Check back here or follow us on Twitter for more information.

Resources on Game History and Design
In addition to producing "How to be a Genius," we will be adding a section of this website on game history and game design, a project that will be undertaken by both our design team and our members. More information coming soon!

So...yay.

The Train
When the train pulled out of Kent and headed for London, she was on it, alone, which was more than she could say for the last time she rode the train, encumbered by the full entourage: mother, kids, nanny, suitcases, and worst of all, her husband.

Today she read an old copy of Vogue and watched the countryside. London was where she would get lost. London was where she would become her best self.

Her husband was a genius, something everyone else told her was true and also something she didn't doubt. But where did that leave her? She would not succumb to the simple solution of being nothing more than a housewife, a trinket, a brainless accessory. It was, after all, 19_ _! She could be her own person.

The question was, who was that person to be?

Her husband was a genius -> Hm...

Just a wild guess: Ann Brookfield, wife of William Golding?

Hurray! Stuff is happening!

New email:

Dear Member,

We have begun our new series, "How to be a Genius," with Episode One: Smashing Clocks. The story begins on a train to London, but there is no way of knowing where it will end.

The story is the game and the game is the story. It's up to the players to figure out how it is played.

The first goal is to determine who is good and who is evil. This includes the players and protagonists. Oh, and nothing stays the same.

You have already been given the first clue. Here is another:

So. That's a triangle. The image is from a stock image site, and the file name (on the site) is triangle-icon.gif. Triangle? Delta?

No idea on who the person could be. Maybe someone on here: http://www.information-britain.co.uk/famousbritons.php?county=20

Although we don't know that she was actually BORN in Kent. But we also don't really know what we are looking for, do we? Maybe a woman who came from Kent to London in the 1900s and who had something to do with the Palace of Westminster?

This may be helpful to you guys by cutting the timeline, but Vogue didn't start in Europe until 1916.

In 1960 it tired to appeal to the youth of the sexual revolution.
May help you it may not, but i thought I would throw my two cents in there.

Nancy Aster who was the 1st woman to be seated as a Member of Parliament in 1919 (located at those Westminster coords) had a famous summer estate in Kent.
Am clueless atm regarding the triangle & personally not much of a Nancy Astor fangirl. Smile

Well maybe it is more simple then we think ok start over a triangle is the symbol of the pyramids that also symbolize Eternal structure and foundation. Then there is blue or rather Blue/BLUE/B.L.U.E isn't blue a primary color. Also the primary color circles are the symbol of the Olympics wich are going to be help in London,England this year.

How is that more simple than what we were thinking before? I think you're kinda over-complicating it.

I think it may be
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Margaret Thatcher

Some of the demographics make sense like coming from Kent and having children and it would match up with the Westmister clue.

If we combine 2 hints (Westminster Palace and triangle), first link leads to this page: http://www.kch42.dial.pipex.com/leyslond1.htm
Quote:
The Secondary Triangle
This forms an equilateral triangle (internal angles 60° and sides equal) with the key points of:

Boudicca's Mound - Hampstead Heath
The Tower of London
West Brompton Cemetery

The base of this triangle links the Tower, Southwark Cathedral, the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and the West Brompton Cemetery plus a number of other key sites, some of which have now disappeared. That this triangle was understood and appreciated, at least until the 18th century is evidenced in the alignment of John Nash's Avenue in Regent's Park, which is very accurately aligned to the Boudicca's Mound and also exactly bisects the triangle.

I think Graved is onto something. In the sidebar of the site reads this:
Quote:

Within the larger triangle there is a smaller equilateral triangle that links Hampstead, The Tower of London and the West Brompton Cemetery.

And the following image with a Blue line

Westminster Palace is almost on the line of the triangle, perhaps Big Ben has something to do with it (the blog is called Smashing Clocks). If you look at the floorplan of the palace, the southern most corner, Victoria Tower is on the line of the triangle.

The triangle on Google Maps:
