A serious question [Wall of text] Let's keep this civil I will start with the question and then explain my reasons. Please do not take this as an attempt to troll or whatever as this is an honest question and I would like to discuss it with all of you and maybe if it is popular enough we can get it put into effect.
Question : Should this subforum be open to things that are similar to Slender Man, but don't actually contain him?
By this I mean psychological and supernatural horror. Different monsters and such.
A while back I saw something about a Fear Mythos and then there is the SCP stuff and I feel that this place needs a lot more diversification. It's gotten so bad that there are check-lists of clichés and lists about what to do and not to do.
I've never been able to get too much into most series either due to a huge backlog of things to read/watch or me losing interest, but I can put that down to Slender Man not actually scaring me except on instances like Entry 14 where he walks in on people sleeping (being watched while sleeping is a personal irk of mine).
Maybe it's just me? I don't know, but I do think that if people knew they could make a series about different things than him and get it here, there would be a lot less clichés and people going "Oh, look. Distortion again." I think it would really promote creativity.
I know I have no real say here, it's just an idea and I have seen people mention in the past that they'd like the Fear Mythos or whatever to be part of this subforum. It seems the Seedeater (I think that's what it is called) has some popularity so why not others?

I think this sub-form should be open to things that are similar to Slender Man. I am all about new things, and new ideas.
Now days, it feels like most of the video series and blogs are copied and pasted. I would love to see slender man with different capabilities, or powers. Also, I think it would be really neat if someone would change the height or other characteristics of slender man.
I would really love to see a series that has something completely different than Slender man. Everyone is getting tired of seeing the whole "oh no, slender man is following me, I have to be like Tribe Twelve and try to kill him." In addition, the main character going insane and dying towards the end of the series seems to be very popular now.
Now days, it feels that people are just trying to become well known for the series he or she creates. I mean, this is understandable on some level.
Once creators quit writing to entertain, or to inform, or even to persuade the whole plot line ends up crashing. Creators have a better chance of being well known, if they create something new.
Let's face, it left overs are best when reheated once.

There's a reason I included stuff like blametruthproject, UnearthTruth, and JustAcquaintances in my big SMM playlist. I think there's plenty of room for series that are thematically or generically* related to the Slender Man without actually featuring the Slender Man as a character.
* generically meaning "related to or descriptive of genre," not meaning "blandly"

I would say it already is, although not all that extensively, open to things similar in vein to slenderblogs/vlogs since unearthtruth and justacquaintances have gone discussed here without any problems. While it's not many, it shows that there wouldn't likely be much, if any, opposition to more non-slenderman vlogs/blogs.

It's good to hear this, I didn't know those were non-Slender.
It's just that I feel the name of the subforum should be changed to be more inviting to creators and encourage more non-Slender stuff.
Edit: Also, considering it wouldn't effect the topic links, it will pretty much have no negative effects.

Just as an FYI...
Changing the name of the forum would not be simple. That requires admin activity which at times can be glacial paced here.
90 to 95% of what gets posted here are not ARGs in the true sense, and this IS a forum for ARGs. So far uF has been very tolerant and welcoming but I don't know how much further they might bend. Are we talking 20 new threads or 200?

I'm actually astonished at how few ARGlikes there are here. Honestly, I can think of...two? Three at the outside?
Even Marble Hornets isn't an ARG by any traditional definition, and yet these are by far the two subforums on UF with the highest traffic.

I don't know that there would be any extra threads, given that these series are already being talked about here (and the number of them is very small).

What I meant was that links wouldn't be screwed up by changing the name.

My own works are ARGs, so you can include those in the count, even though one doesn't have a thread here.
---
As a side-note to all this, I do agree that there needs to be more ARG-stuff in this subforum. Part of the reason I can't get into a series is because there is very little interaction when it feels like there should be more.
Marble Hornets was never really meant to be an ARG, I think, even if it pretends to be, and then when everyone jumped on the band-wagon it made Slender-stuff very non-ARG. That could stand to be corrected.
Edit - As an addition to this, I really hate the tag [Video Side Story], especially considering TribeTwelve and Dark Harvest have it. They are not side stories. I know this is due to the days when the Mythos was young and everything was being linked into Marble Hornets, but it still annoys me.

There are plenty of slenderman-esque games in the news and rumor section. I don't think a whole new section is required...

Except for the Slaughterhouse thing, I am not seeing anything in there that could be related to what I'm talking about. Could you provide some names so I can see?
What I've seen in there are actual ARGs that are related to movie releases or other things. I also remember that one that had art like a comic. Nothing I've seen in there really reminds me of monsters and horror and such.

That's left over from when this forum was still part of the MH forum. The original EMH thread has that too I think. I'd be happy to change them but I'm afraid that if they are linked outside of here, in wikis or in personal bookmark lists, or the like, it would bork those links.

The links use number IDs, not topic titles. The thread for my own work has had its title changed a couple of times and the link has remained the same. It should be fine, I believe.
