@reverend, if alex associated a story that wasn't actually the operator's origin with the operator, wouldn't that still be them creating an origin story for him even if it's a fake one that alex made up?

nice counter argument

you're saying he's associating the story with the operator because he thinks it would fit him nicely, but that would be alex creating an origin story for the operator whether it was truthful or not
If someone says something dumb I'm going to roll my eyes.

there's a difference between using that line in an argument where there is room for counter argument, and using that line when someone just says something stupid that can in no way be truthful. don't be ignorant
The fact you don't know what the word empathy means does not justify a longer responce.

I know what empathy means, but the way you use it makes no sense in the argument you're trying to present

For the sake of the community, who absolutely can't stand arguments for some reason, let's just drop it

"Hey there is this story...kinda makes me think of what I'm going through...gonna tell my 'buddy' it before I try to have his mind raped."

This is my version of events. The fact you want to tell me it's not my version makes me want to know what you are smoking.

I can't believe I just made an account so that I could respond to this. I have no idea how posting works, so sorry if the format's wonky.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
First off, you can't complain about using bad arguments and then use logical fallacies yourself (ad hominem attack by saying "don't be ignorant", a bit straw-man-ish earlier on if you ask me.)

Second, your definition of "origin story" clearly doesn't match the general population's. As Inigo Montoya would say, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." An origin story explains where something came from. Saying that two stories are similar does not provide an origin story. For example, if I have a friend whose house whose house was blown down by a storm and I draw a comparison between her experience and the wolf from the Three Little Pigs blowing down their houses, that would not constitute an origin story. (bad example, but hopefully you get the idea)

I'm going to bed, but maybe tomorrow I can actually talk about the entry...

And so the epic debate on whether it was Skully/Woodsy or Hoodie on that fateful night when Alex chased them has been ended. I liked the entry, more elaboration to come as I catch up with the rest of the thread.

we found out it was definitely hoody back in the 45 or 46 thread, just the night vision made his mask look a little different. they wouldn't have given two masked characters the same exact sweatshirt. hoody and woodsy are the same person btw, woodsy was just the first name he was given

Well now it's confirmed for sure or well you know... Trout Embarassed

So anyways, I really loved the tension in this entry. I kept on expecting very bad things to happen every second and then BAM Hoody from nowhere. I especially love how our little Jay has grown. =;] No going to places at night, he's stayed very consitent with his cover story, and he's being pretty cautious comparitively.

I liked him focusing on areas where major events from previous entries happened because I can picture myself doing that and I love how he seems to deliberately reapeat things done in previous entries to try and jog Tim's memories.

I too didn't notice the limp however. Timestamp please? Oh and nice catch azureillusions! Very Happy

Dude, I got what you were saying the first time. Alex is relating to the "kid who went missing who was dismembered and strung up"

But the fact that that he mentions the first half of the story about the killer being stretched out on a rack and burned alive in the blessed forest where things grow fast, is not relevant to anything Alex is experiencing personally, it's relevant to the operators appearance. if alex isn't making it up, then he must believe that it has to do with the operator, otherwise he wouldn't be able to relate to it

Since they said it wasn't an origin story, it has to be something Alex is making up to get Jay to think he knows more about the operator than he thinks, which would lead Jay to think he had more answers, which would get Jay to follow him into the forest

Now let's drop this, seriously

So how about the whole Tim's limp came back thing? Did any one see it/has a timestamp?

I didn't notice a limp on the rewatch I just did, it was very apparent in other entries like 33 and 45 though

Rewatching it again, the appearance of a limp might have been unintentional. Right around when they walk in front of the Bones building, on their way out, it seemed like Tim was spending a lot more time on one leg than another. It wasn't as strong as before, but he might have been starting to remember it, just like seeing Hoody seemed to make him uncomfortable being there again.

Alternately, distortion just gave me that impression, in which case, I'm sorry for the red herring.

So....you make up your own point of view...attribute it to someone else...and then counter it. Do you even need other people to have arguments?

If you were sincere in your desire to drop it you would have stopped responding. Actions do in fact speak louder then words. It's okay to admit you misunderstood, no one would think less of you.

Tim didn't seem to react all that strongly to the hooded guy. If anything it was Jay's bolting after him that made him uncomfortable.

Kinda of like "What the hell does this have to do with site scouting? What the hell is really going on? Are you fucking with me?"
