My turn.

Dear Player who will be King.docx
Quote:
Dear Player who will be King:

In days of old and days anew
The time for a needed king is true -
Which side of life will be most skilled:
In getting theirs through unscathed, not killed?
Changes will occur throughout
Eight by Eight and all in doubt
Strings to pull, pieces to play
In your role: both night and day
Aiding you is one of heart
Whose sacrifice has indeed took part
But, as a king trusts all his 'men'
Can the same be said of 'women'?
To save 'her' from losing face
And protecting 'her' most sacred grace
'She' knows you, but you not 'her'
Thus starts the fun for those in power…

The king is a role in which you will be expected to be talking to the players on your team and, when the game fully starts between the teams, you will have to interact and make decisions on part of your team. The queens are unknown variables – pieces and players who are both interchangeable and also, through THEIR choices, have allowed YOU to be king… Treat them both with respect… Wink
One final note – players of both genders will be playing roles of both 'archetypal' gender-specific roles. It is not a comment on the player, but of the piece-gender role when gender will be discussed. Please respect this when talking about, and to, pieces/players - thank you.

instructions for Experience King.docx
Quote:

Monarch member of:
Experience
The king without a sword… the land without a king…

Scattered throughout Albion's shores are glimpses, icons, representations of your army.
Each piece needs to be named, to be understood and to be placed correctly.
1 concept = 1 piece = 1 person.
6 concepts. 6 pieces. 6 people.
Which is which?
Of course, this is a task you can set your followers and not worry about yourself…

YOUR concern is WHERE to hold court.
It will be central to all of YOUR pieces.
To aid you:
Knights and bishops of both sides convene together as understood of olden days.
Their names will lead the way for locating their spaces.
Using your cornerstones of your palace, you will be able to centre upon your point.

Once your court is assembled, the pawns will follow…

The first court to be fully assembled will move first.

"The king without a sword... The land without a king" is from Excalibur.

Since I don't know which side I'm on, I'm just going to do what I can to add a bit of information to either side.

Go google image search, starting with A Rural Pen

The moth is an Amphipyra effusa. It's from the Mediterranean and Asia. The English version of the wikipedia page doesn't have a lot of info. The German page seems to have a bit more, but I do not speak German, so.

German page: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphipyra_effusa

The "angel" in the O of "Names are so important no?" is Eos, a titan, Greek Goddess of the Dawn. Painted by Evelyn de Morgan.

EDIT: Eos and the Moth. The moth is Amphipyra. Eos is holding an amphora. Significant?

The painting with "two pieces 'names' are here" is The Adoration of the Magi of 1475, painted by Sandro Botticelli. Wikipedia says that a number of members of the Medici family were painted in, including: Cosimo, Piero, Giovanni, Giulano, and Lorenzo. It was commissioned by Gaspare di Zanobi del Lama for the chapel in the church of Santa Maria Novella.

EDIT:

The Experience Puzzle. Beneath the left Knight, Queen, and right rook, there is a small straight line. Beneath the right bishop, there is a kind of curvy bit. Don't know if that means anything, but that's the first thing I've noticed. There were no such marks beneath anything on the Innocence Puzzle.

EDIT: two pieces though both the same, maybe it is the college as well, both schools - Pawns

RE: Pawns

I doubt it. Pawns represent peasants or serfs. Most peasents or serfs couldn't afford college. College and education was usually for people in higher positions, such as Knights.

Norman Hart (Knight Commander of the Victorian Order) born June 12, 1901 in London; died June 8, 1979 in Windsor. Grew up in Streatham, the son of publicans who ran the Crown & Scepter.

Any of this resonate with anyone?

His full name is, Sir Norman Bishop Hartnell.

Full names are probably important considering a Bishop is also a chess piece.

[Photograph of George Bonnano at Columbia University]

Maybe there's a significance that Columbia U. was founded as Kings College and Bonanno Pisano is the attributed Architect of the leaning Pisa Tower (Rook)?

Believe what Kings College and a Tower chess piece have in common is that they're both original names which have been replaced by contemporary names.

SkelJelly,

I've already made two posts about Norman on page 6 which leads to Bruton Street, London.

EDIT: That being said just got an email from PR

Quote:

PR Email:

Incorrect

My Email:

Not necessarily correct in all aspects but let us see:

1st Slide: Death aka Grim Reaper
2nd Slide: Bruton Street (26)
3rd Slide: Aethon (Horses aka Knights)

Of course which bit is incorrect is anyone's guess, probably all, thought it seemed too easy.

The Hebrew on "A rural pen" EDIT: is also the same on "The Voice of the Bard"

First and foremost, I am a wikipedia Hebrew knower. Not an actual Hebrew-speaking person. So do feel free to get some second opinions here.

EDIT: So I tried to paste the characters in and they would scramble on me.

I passed this on to a friend who's a language genius. Though he isn't fluent in Hebrew, he knows a fair bit about how languages work, and how Hebrew ought to work. He's said that it is definitely not traditional Hebrew. The structure, he said, just wasn't there at all.

More or less, he sided with the google translate that's roughly :

בכ ןבֶאֶ, וּסאֲמָ ם ינִוׄבּהַ-- התָיְהָ, שׁארֹלְ הנָּפִּ
-->Some predict, and Sam from Janow - houses, Charles Neff

EDIT: Deleting useless misleading stuff, but leaving the nonsense I toyed with for posterity.

Ok...so I posted on a forum I frequent to see if there were any Hebrew speakers there...& this is what they said about the Hebrew text (three answers...their punctuation, not mine...lol):

Quote:
Looks like bits of sentences from the bible, "head of a corner",refering to the cornerstone when you build a house, does not really make sense.Hope that helps.

As far as I can tell the sentences are written backwards (the words still read left to right though). It says "Evehn Ma'asoo HaBonim Hayesah L'rosh Peenah" the stone spurned by the builders ended up the foundation stone.

From Acts (reference to Jesus), but also a phrase from Psalms (Old Testament).

The Bible verses they are referring to are
Psalm 118:22 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone and
1 Peter 2:7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone

There is an interesting discussion on this at this blog entry: http://gaknightscastle.blogspot.com.au/2007/11/stone-that-builder-refused.html

[01:17] <Levi__> Freenode is new to me.
[01:17] <epiphany> hello!
[01:17] == Levi__ has changed nick to LeviVoland
[01:18] <Pietro> It is free and simple.
[01:18] <CyRei> very good
[01:18] <LeviVoland> It seems that we have lost a few of our flock along the way...
[01:18] <Pietro> This will hoefully save me time, repeating myself, ensuring all, in some manner, has access to information being given out - wouldn't want to be seen as unfair now would I... Wink
[01:18] <Pietro> hopefully*
[01:19] <Pietro> The Kings are here - it is up to them to gather their flocks...
[01:19] <Pietro> So - both Kings seemed a little stumped - how can I help?
[01:20] <LeviVoland> How are you with coffee? Wink
[01:21] <LeviVoland> Mappings... It seems that perhaps we are overthinking and overextending...
[01:21] <Pietro> Prefer something stronger personally..
[01:22] <Pietro> For each King, there are three places to find.
[01:22] <Pietro> 2 of these overlap.
[01:22] <Pietro> The places can be found by fining connections.
[01:22] <Pietro> finding*
[01:23] <Pietro> Between names, items, themes, concepts, art, etc...
[01:23] <Pietro> Once three places have been found, the court can be found centrally to these three places.
[01:23] <LeviVoland> Places and pieces are related but separate?
[01:23] <Pietro> One map.
[01:24] <Pietro> One set of pieces, cornerstones if you will, are your unique piece-place.
[01:24] <Pietro> The other two sets are in the same places.
[01:24] <Pietro> Three places, 6 pieces.
[01:24] <LeviVoland> Aha.
[01:24] <epiphany> interesting
[01:24] <Pietro> The Two bishops will be found together, the two knights will be found together, the two rooks will be found together.
[01:25] <Pietro> *two
[01:25] <LeviVoland> And our flocks, as it were...
[01:25] <LeviVoland> Are of our own choosing?
[01:26] <Pietro> Each piece needs to be named, to be understood and to be placed correctly. 1 concept = 1 piece = 1 person.
[01:26] <Pietro> Yes.
[01:27] <Pietro> CyRei - are you well?
[01:27] <CyRei> im ok and you?
[01:27] <Pietro> A free time saver - I am not one for steganography. It is too time consuming...
[01:28] <Pietro> Hot... 27 here today - same with you still?
[01:28] <CyRei> yes thats correct
[01:28] <Pietro> Wink
[01:28] <epiphany> The players seemed to have taken it that individuals solve the puzzle & submit it...but only the overall answer is required, yes?
[01:28] <Pietro> To the two Kings - have you found the film quote yet within your instructions? Wink
[01:29] <LeviVoland> I believe, Pietro, I have never been so happy as to hear you say that regarding steg.
[01:29] <epiphany> lol
[01:29] <Pietro> Levi - I am glad youa re glad.
[01:29] <Pietro> you are*
[01:30] <Pietro> I am more about word play, interpretation of information and decoding something that is obviously encoded.
[01:30] <LeviVoland> Affirmative, to the film quote.
[01:30] <Pietro> This does not mean I will not hide things within messages, but steganography? Too much hassle and hard work for such a simple puppeteer as myself...
[01:30] <Pietro> Have you seen the film Levi?
[01:30] <epiphany> I can't say I've seen Excalibur...but we did study some of Mort d'Arthur at school
[01:31] <LeviVoland> It's been some time since I have. I recall a young Liam Neeson...
[01:31] <Pietro> Morgana and Guinevere are both superbly played...
[01:31] <LeviVoland> Dame Helen?
[01:31] <Pietro> Of course, that does engender the question - which King is Arthur and which King s Mordred?
[01:32] <Pietro> is*
[01:32] <Pietro> 10 minutes before I am needed elsewhere...
[01:33] <Pietro> Q: Would you like a clue for a set of pieces??? If you say yes, it is published here for both to see...
[01:33] <LeviVoland> No Leondegrance for our reconstruction?
[01:34] <Pietro> No - that is the next generation of puzzle... Wink
[01:34] <Pietro> 8 minutes
[01:35] <epiphany> In reference to the clue...I will say yes
[01:36] <Pietro> Red King, he with blood on his hands... do you also desire a clue?
[01:36] <Pietro> 6 minutes
[01:36] <LeviVoland> Indeed.
[01:36] <Pietro> Then you need to decide, which set of pieces do you desire a clue about?
[01:37] <Pietro> Knight, Bishop or Castle?
[01:37] <epiphany> Bishop
[01:37] <LeviVoland> I could never get the hang of bishops... The angles always threw me off a bit.
[01:38] <Pietro> Bishop then Levi?
[01:38] <Pietro> 4 minutes...
[01:38] <LeviVoland> Certainly.
[01:38] <LeviVoland> Bishops.
[01:40] <epiphany> your turn is about to end, I think?
[01:41] <Pietro> Bishops ar true people of 'the cloth', moving unusally diagonally. hey embody ideas and when ideas are needed to be made more permnent, cloth doesn't cut it. Scissors beats cloh and what beats scisors? Up to you to decide...
[01:41] <LeviVoland> ;D
[01:41] <LeviVoland> A fine clue.
[01:42] <epiphany> interesting. Thankyou
[01:42] <Pietro> Sorry for the typos - the heat is getting to me... need to reflect on my typing somewhat. Goodbye for now all of you.
[01:42] <LeviVoland> Thank you, Pietro.
[01:42] <epiphany> Watch out for 28 tomorrow...
[01:42] <Pietro> Enjoy the day, my kings and he who would be king...
[01:42] == Pietro [6d98f1dd@gateway/web/freenode/ip.109.152.241.221] has quit [Quit: Page closed]
[01:42] <CyRei> have a good afternoon
