In that case, what's the point of Chris being around at all? Why does he even show up to these meetings with Alex et al if he's so distant and seemingly apathetic? He clearly doesn't contribute anything. I really like Chris, but he's starting to get annoying. Yes he went through a traumatic experience, but deal with it and cheer up. It may sound harsh, but his presence is becoming decreasingly entertaining for the viewer.

Unless...

At some point this all comes to a head and he goes completely off the rails in some spectacularly entertaining way. In that case, carry on.

I like how this is set up visually... Chris fading into the shadows, literally and figuratively.

I think Chris is behaving pretty realistically in this situation. After all, they have a death-cult hovering around them, supernatural visitors, no help from any authority figures, a possible betrayal by a trusted friend, and most likely they don't have much of a future.

greg's log #3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A55DOrim0Ug&feature=g-all-u

Whoah, this one is good.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Greg was brought into the cult by jesse 10 days before Greg's death. we learned some about the slendercult. Greg was told he could tape the ceremony, but to give it to the master (whose face we saw) for archiving. Clearly Greg didn't do that, and I have a feeling that was probably the reason Greg was killed.

With this knowledge, I'm kind of wondering if we need to re-interpret Log #14 and "My Final Betrayal."

In #14 we never actually see Greg die, we just see his body. For all we know he was killed elsewhere and then moved into his house. Could he be the masked cultist who was killed in "My Final Betrayal"?

You know, that's one of the first things that came to mind. (After the obligatory Nemo reference that ran through my head.)

I have so much speculation going on in my head right now, one of which is that JESSE is KindvonderRitter. However, what that means in connection to Greg's death is what keeps it from making sense. Perhaps Jesse decided to go undercover into the cult, and convinced Greg to help him?

Or, continuing in this line of thought, if Greg was the one killed in that video, the title refers to betraying Greg and by extension the protagonists. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense either since KvdR continued to help.

Oh, let's face it-Slender Vlogs aren't supposed to make sense. That's half the fun. XD

That...actually makes a certain amount of sense, when you think about it. KvdR is obviously someone who is involved with the cult, and at the same time working against it (we know that from his name, if nothing else, since it's faux-German for "Child of the Knight" and in the woodcut he's referencing, the knight is the guy fighting the Slender Man). So let's say Jesse is KvdR. He's infiltrated the cult and trying to stop it, for whatever reason, and it's super important for him to maintain his cover.

Then his friend goes and gets involved, and maybe the only way to protect him is to pull him into the cult, either as another infiltrator or for real. Then something happens - maybe something Greg-related - that puts suspicion on Jesse or causes the cult to question his loyalty. In order to keep from blowing his cover (and probably keep himself alive) he's basically forced to kill Greg in order to prove his loyalty. That would explain the title "My Final Betrayal" - he's just committed the ultimate betrayal against his friend.

It works, although obviously there are details missing, and we have no hints as to why Jesse would be doing all this.

So have to like theory. Likes the person in the final betrayal is not Greggory for here. Could the main overseer been killed. The cultist probable took said camera tape it not like they let him leave. Possible for there Greggory had given the blank tape or stole tape backs. Run there Jesse run think Chris plus Alex may hurt you. Could like Greggory be killed by Jesse seperated there. For talked riftings testing place. Think people Fallout references place.

Oh. Oh, God... Jesse is one of them!

Or... possibly a double agent or something.

I still don't know if Jesse knew that Greg was going to die. His behaviour in Log 14 was pretty natural and it's not easy to throw up on cue!

Did someone say
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ancient Mystical Cult?
Ugh. I know this Slender Cult has been in the series for a while, but this log made it just seem really cheesy and silly. Slender Man is some sort of ancient Egyptian god now?

My cracktheory is that Slendy and Nyarlathotep split Ancient Egypt between them, for maximum people-trolling opportunities. However, with the worship of the Egyptian gods gone, Slendy went to Germany and Nyarly wound up in New England. And now Slendy is barging in on his territory again and all will end in an epic eldritch showdown.

IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.

Okay, it's possible I've been reading too much Lovecraft lately. Possibly.

Anyways, on a more serious note, I believe back when they had the original thread on SA, there were mentions of Slendy being in all manner of places around the world, including Egypt. So I guess they grabbed that reference and ran with it all the way. (Just like Tribe Twelve grabbed the Nazi reference and incorporated that.)

Please note:Though I am technically "replying" to you,I quoted you mostly for the subject in general, and not to attack your view or subjective opinion.

I know others have mentioned from time to time how they feel about a Slender Story introducing different elements into the original mythos and whether or not they enjoy where the creators take it or not or the "quality" of the execution. And that's fine, because not everything is going to always resonate with different people.Plus--as things are already largely derivitive--if someone doesn't take the character/mythos further from where they found it,IMO it would get really boring very quickly.
That having been said--I bless the day that I decided one rainy afternoon to start watching this Vlog because,IMO,it's one of the most consistently entertaining and well-done Vlogs in the Slenderverse. Are they perfect?No...but no one is.These gentlemen seem to have put much thought, effort and planning into their mythos and as Slendy is supposedly an "eldritch horror" then it actually fits quite nicely into the storyline for him to be an entity that shows up in many cultures on many timelines and in many roles (look at EMH and TT as two very good examples) and, once again,IMO,DH's spin on things and their detailed mythos have made for some of the best vids I've ever watched,Slender or in general.
I just watched the Atlantic Test Site vid again the other day and it's brilliance thrilled me just as much the second time.I know people are divided about this last entry--but the one thing I find quite unsettling about it even if you strip every other element away is the fact that it took place at "The Rift" and they went out of their way to mention that and I cannot wait to get the pay-off that I'm sure will come from that piece of exposition.
Please excuse the wall of text Cool

PS-@Ithilwen22--I posted just after you and wanted to say that one can NEVER read too much Lovecraft! Very Happy

I think it's pretty obvious that Greg probably submitted the tapes of his initial meetings to the Master and for some reason didn't submit this tape, which might have been the reason for his death? I dunno, but it's very clear from the video that his initiation was NOT his first meeting with these guys, that there are some events missing between his meeting with Jesse and then his initiation. Very interesting stuff.

Have you been reading the blog at all? It's been in the plot for almost a year now, I think.
