ARG creating, planning and executing

I've always been fascinated with ARG's, and i think I'm at a point in my life where i would like to start creating them. I'm thinking of starting a group in my area where people who would also like to create ARG's can gather, plan out, and play these games. I live in WA, east of Seattle if anyone is interested. However what i really came to ask is some help on creating my first game. This game, I wanted to make to leave around my area and have people play it here. At the end, it will just be an advertisement for my group hopefully to form one and play this game all over WA. To be honest though, I've been looking at a few puzzle idea's but i don't want to make it overly confusing. So i was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some pointers on ARG's and creating them.
