@everyone: yes. I realize we don't affect the story in any major ways. But we, as people, personally interact with Jay. We alert him to totheark videos, and have many other interactions. I'm not trying to say the tweets have much impact behind them, but how can it possibly be argued that it's 'just a video series' in our universe when we interact with the characters in real time? Does anyone else see what I'm saying?
Sure, the story wouldn't be affected if the twitter didn't exist, but it DOES exist. It's kind of pointless to talk about if it didn't because that's not what has happened.

The point we're trying to get at is that yes, we the audience, do play a part. We do interact with the twitter. Regardless, Marble Hornets is entirely scripted. We cannot alter the story. We're simply a trinket for entertainment.

You guys do know that the TotheArk videos are also not important for the plot of the series proper, right? Either in an interview or in the DVD commentaries, they explain that you can watch the main entries, never see the TotheArk stuff, and still get what's going on. Razz

You might get the overall picture if you don't watch the totheark videos, but I think it'd be a hard argument to make that they don't provide significant clues about upcoming events.

Yeah, but they don't impact the story. They just compliment them or give teaser info.

The totheark videos are on the same level of importance as the Twitter account; you don't necessarily need to see them to follow the story, but you need them to fully understand everything that's happening.

Not really. Troy and company specifically crafted them that way. Razz

Jay does occasionally make reference to TTA videos in his entries though. But, IIRC, there are several TTA videos before they get mentioned in the main entries - if you'd been watching the entries alone it wouldn't make much sense the first time Jay referred to a TTA response.

On topic to this entry, did we ever work out if that is Hoody visible in the upstairs window near the end of #58? I re-watched all series 3 so far yesterday, and am really not sure. If it is, its yet another hint towards teleporting going on. If it isn't, then what the heck is it?

If anything, sometimes I feel like I'd get what's going on MORE if I didn't watch the TTA videos. Haha.

I get the impression that TTA is what Troy really wanted to make. It's so creepy and unrealistic, and he just needed an outlet for all the freaky stuff in his head that doesn't really fit into the main story.

Well, I think it is not Hoody. For a person to be seen from this perspective should be very close to the window. No less than a meter or meter and a half, and in that case would look greater relative to the window frame. It could be a table or any of the crap we see in #56 in the inside of the building.
But there has always been something that surprised with this character (I guess you would comment extensively on this forum, but at that time I was not here and not know the conclusions have been obtained) and it is how he came to the car (#41) even before that Alex arrived, despite taking the camera 15 minutes after Jay flee, and return in a quiet walk, recording creeks and other scenes of the forest... One explanation is that Jay ran for more than half hour in circles in a space no more than one Km.. The another that Hoody can be transported in time... O_o

The reason Troy made Totheark was because he knew people wanted an ARG, and that this series wasn't it. To grant the fanbase their wish, he came up with Totheark. While it still doesn't make Marble Hornets an ARG, it at least brings it closer.

Aso, Hoodyfigure is probably a door in the back of the room, but like Pravado said, it doesn't matter. We haven't really gotten an easter egg since Masky in Entry 52.

Look at what I wrote. This started from me (I thought obviously) jokingly asking how we knew we hadn't been Operator-influenced or whatever. I can't believe anyone actually responded with "THE OPERATOR'S NOT REAL, NOOOOOB!!!".

If making a fairly stupid joke that no one got qualifies as "trolling", I apologize, but that means a significant percentage of this thread is "trolling" as well. In any case, I didn't intend anything.

On the whole Timnesia thing, the main way to see if this is merely a "performance" would be to ask ourselves if Masky is capable of acting "normal". Way back in season 1, when we first see Tim, Jay has an interview with him. The question is, was Tim ALREADY Masky at this point or did Jay "trigger" it?
