The Institute Film I just got home from the screening of the Institute sort-of-documentary in Oakland. The last frames after the credits say thelatitude.com. I called out the director during the Q&A and he said he didn't put that there and had no idea what it was.
I think it's GAME ON!

Speculation Thanks for asking that question at the screening last night. On to the speculation.
Since the informal Q&A with Jeff Hull at the end of the Socio-reengineering Seminar last year where someone asked about other projects from Nonchalance, Jeff's answer has been stuck in my head. I don't remember his exact answer, but he said they were effectively working on an interactive house. A potential Kickstarter program was mentioned and a "we have all of your contact information" a wink to those in attendance that they would be kept in the loop when the time was right.
In the same session he mentioned that Nonchalance had not had a productive interaction with any potential commercial partners. Makes me wonder if Nonchalnce has decided to try and support themselves with a project of their own a new, for-profit game. The Latitude stating that they are a "private membership society" and having a site that invokes an air of exclusiveness (like a high end social club or hotel) would be in line with this.
Again, this is just me speculating. I have no more information on this than anybody else here seems to.

Oh snap! The page changed! The hourglass gif has been replaced by a fancy image. Everything else seems to be the same.
Looks like they were holding off till after the screening to get this started.
I am excite.

Have you tried to put a random Y and X? It leads to this page with a different, squary and big logo at the top of the screen with the words "The Latitude". Underneath there are pages: Discussions, Activity and Sign In and a search bar. The pages require a login but, instead of Y and X, it's the usual Username and Password. There's also an "Powered by Vanilla" thingsy at the bottom... I don't know about this anymore... I think it's just a forum or something.

I can't believe it's just a forum if they made it the last frame of the film. It has to be more than that. Especially for the director to pretend he didn't know what it was and that it just "appeared" in his film.

Saw this a while ago, but now posting to lurk as well. The source to e-mail is gone and it's been replaced by a simple banner.
