I was at work a couple of nights ago and someone had put up a picture of some scenery in the break room. I'm looking at the picture and after a few seconds realize that I'm looking for Slenderman, especially since there are bare trees in one part.

This is only my 2nd post here, so be gentle. This was one of the first threads I read, and I was so happy so see it, because I thought I was the only one to have my brain so affected by MH.

I found MH about 2 weeks ago, and watched all the entries in a couple days. That plus all the TTA vids... That's a big chunk of CREEPY to take in all at once. I'm actually usually a person who avoids horror movies like the plague, but I've discovered that it's not "scary" that I hate, it's gory/grossness I can't stand. Psychologically scary stuff like this, I love.

Anyway, for days after 1st watching the entries, I felt extremely paranoid. I can't look out the window at night, I can't look at the trees behind our apartment without expecting to see something. I haven't had any SM "sightings" or anything like that, but I have a hard time getting the places and characters of MH out of my head. I close my eyes and see the halls of the annex, or the hospital.
I have had sleep paralysis happen to me in the past, and even though I KNOW what's happening, it's still terrifying. When it happens to me, I can't move anything, or open my eyes. But I hear things... footsteps around my bed, breathing... once I felt something touch me. But I am SO scared I'm going to have a SM related episode of S.P.... Ugh.

Funny story: This happened just last night. I'd spent all day reading threads here, going back to watch the videos to see what people were talking about, stuff like that. So I was thinking about it ALL day. So in the evening, I was in the kitchen, making dinner. I have an 8yo son, who is tall and thin. He must have come down the hallway, and the way the light hit him, it elongated his shadow on the wall. Guess who it looked like. I caught the shadow out of the corner of my eye before I saw him, and I FREAKED the eff out. I snapped at the poor kid and yelled, "What are you DOING out here???" He's like, "I just walked down the hallway, MOM..." But it scared the crap out of me.

I think that we all know that feeling. I discovered the MH world after the Ben/Drowned ARG shut down, permanently (in min-October of last year). It was rough, having watched all the materials once or more over a couple of days, then driving around. Halloween decorations were out, and it seemed like every other house had a skeleton hanging from a tree or a reaper tucked into a corner -- anytime after dusk I would see an Operator-like shape every few minutes.

I still avoid looking out windows, at night, for a day or two after the more intense entries are posted.

I watched every Marble Hornets entry posted up to 54 in one day, and every time I closed my eyes to go to sleep at night, all I could see was Slendy standing over Bruce's corpse at the end of the tunnel from Entry #49.

I found out one of my ex girlfriends goes to college with Troy's girlfriend. I told her if she ever met him to tell him I'd wash his feet and anoint them in oil. That counts as affecting me in real life, right?

As I've said in other posts, I am really new to MH, but have quickly become pretty obsessed. Saturday, I just found Troy's YouTube, and was watching all their funny videos on there (which I LOVED... these guys are geniuses). But I guess I over saturated my brain... Sunday, I was in Disney World (which is my usual Sunday thing), and I saw so many guys that reminded me of Joseph, Troy, or Tim. That's when I realized just how addicted my brain is!

On another note, I've definitely become more skittish at night that I used to be, esp. if I'm alone. I was never afraid of "monsters in the closet" or things like that when I was a kid, but now, I'm SO creeped out when our closet door is open when I'm in bed. I keep expecting to see a Slendy-arm come poking out, as it did when he sidled into Alex's room in that one entry. Shocked

First of all, this is my first post, so hi. I've been lurking for a few weeks but when I saw this I knew I was finally going to have to make an account. I was just talking about this on facebook the other day -- I keep watching it late at night and then having weird dreams. Then i find myself doodling Oppy symbols all day. Bit creepy when you forget you drew one on a shopping list and pull that list out....

There are Operator symbols all over my school because of me (walls, tabletops, mouse pads, computer/book labels). I come across them every now and then, forgetting that I drew them, and yeah, that's creepy.

You are going to ruin someone's sleep habits for a while when they randomly start noticing all of them.

So I'm driving to work the other day and come across an intersection where construction workers have made markings with paint, and I gasp out loud when I see an Operator symbol! I'll have to try to get a picture of it.

Yeah, it's used on constucion sites a lot, I remember seeing it when I worked for a contractor but I have no recollection of what it stood for.

You'll also see it on tags of any clothes that are not dry-clean-safe. It would seem that the Operator's telling us that his suit is hand-wash only.

No, you don't understand.

That's where the symbol comes from.

Alex was going to throw the Operator's suit in the washing machine and Oppy was not about to have that shit.

You know that scene in one of the newer entries where the Operator comes running into the room without warning?

I keep expecting him to do that around the corner where my kitchen meets my hallway.

I also kind of expect to see him standing on the deck outside of my sunroom.

Or in my basement.

Or in one of those rooms where the door opens while I'm walking down the hall.

My house is creepy.

This is the result of me being addicted to MH while simultaneously reading House of Leaves...

I can't stop thinking about them in terms of the other... Like I can't watch people discuss MH (in detail, I mean) without it reminding me of the academic paper/commentary style of House of Leaves...

And I can't help but picture everything in the Navidson Record as being shot in the style of MH. XD
