Take a deep breath, everyone...

Okay, you're probably all going to hate me for this, but here goes:

Remember what the SP was. She was the memories a functioning AI was not supposed to have, or at least, not supposed to be able to access.

I know she was cute. I know she was sweet. I know she tugged at our heartstrings by sounding like a six-year-old girl. May she rest in peace.

BUT.

Are we sure that her death is a bad thing for the reintegration/sanity of Melissa/Durga? The reason AIs aren't supposed to remember who they were, I assume, is because it would impair their ability to function and possibly drive them insane.

It's one thing for Durga to remember that she was created from Yasmine. But as far as we can tell, the SP was Yasmine. And I don't think that's a good thing for an AI to be carrying around.

Sometimes healing is painful. Sometimes, psychological treatment is unpleasant. Sometimes it involves talking about things one would rather forget. Sometimes, it involves giving up or sacrificing things that one thought were essential to who one is.

Like I've said in other posts, the PMs are virtuoso emotional manipulators. But I'm not sure that in the end, this is entirely a bad thing.

That said, it was a particularly wrenching .wav file.

we went from Sleeping Princess going home to Kamal on sunday to her being burned alive by Melissa and a training exercise that most wont be able to make it to.

I am going to trust in the PMs not to end it this way.

Phaedra, I hate the way you make things make so much sense! I wanted to be angry, bob darnit! You make it sound so much more logical.

I really don't hate you. I actually think you are one of the better posters on the forum. *dishes out compliments*

The only thing I have to say about that Phaedra, is that the SP was the one in favor of helping Durga in the future, and Melissa was the one opposed to it. Now that the SP is out of the way, Melissa may be even more forceful in her attempt to stop Durga. At the moment, that seems like a very bad thing.

Yes, but Durga is operating on more sophisticated hardware, way in the future, and she is a more healthy, less limited AI. In a matchup between Durga and Melissa, I'm not worried about Durga. In the end, if it comes to that, Melissa may have to be eliminated, too.

The point, however, is not who was most in favor of helping Durga. The point, if we're supposed to view this as a pseudo-psychological problem (schizophrenia, multiple personalities, or whatever) is that eventually, the SP would have had to stop existing as the SP, whether through reintegration, being blocked off somehow, or out-and-out destruction.

I feel your pain. I do. That phone call is probably going to show up for me in a bad dream tonight. But I'm trying to be objective here.

I agree with you Phaedra, but Melissa has been the one who was blocking the Subject 5 material from Durga. I knew the SP would get off'ed this week though, just cause there was her joy over going home. But Durga is our ace in the hole in the future, so hopefully we can help somehow. Maybe we need the Flea...

i agree, but would it have been better for her not to be deleted, but instead integrated? we might not be able to put melissa back together...

I can see where you are coming from, trying to be unbaised. But I guess I see the game in a different light. I guess, for me anyways, the point is to act like you are a part of the story... which includes picking a person (whether becoming a part of the Apocalypso crew or the SParmy or whatever) and get in character. (whether that be help Melissa with axons or help solve puzzles or whatever) I guess I just play the game in a different way. But its all good. I admire your posts because they always make me think.

By the way, I'm not a fan of Mexican food. (:

WTF

Ok think about how I feel. At 12:30 today Mazian, the adam and I sang row row row your boat to her. She was excited to see her brother. She wanted pancakes. With blueberries. I was fumbling up talking to her cause I didn't know how to respond to her. So I started thinking, well, talk to her like you would a 6 yr old girl. Then it made sense.

Not more than 5 hours later, I'm listening to her screaming voice as she is being murdered.

I can only hope that [SPEC] deletion means she will now be sent back to the future and will really see her brother, or some other spec that she's not dead. [/SPEC]

What a price to pay for today's reward,

I am truly in AWE of this game. My hat's of to you PMs.

So how are we going to get our "Most Confidential" Wav's now? huh?

Raspberry

We never Murdered anyone. She was already dead when she was turned into an AI.

Both AI's must be destroyed by the end. They are rampant.

If you look at the Recipe 7 page, the bee is still turqoise and purple. I checked to make sure and it was yellow and black... but then I refreshed again and it was back.

Could this be a mistake by the PMs/Melissa to rid of all things SP? Or is this a sign she is still kicking?

Too black and white, Gram.

Look for shades of gray. It's what we were failing to do from the beginning, and what we only recently managed to.
