Please, excuse the 5-4FPS fraps was causing.

but seriously, this game takes me 15 minutes to start. Weird.

Could somebody please tell me if there is an "incredibly loud screamer" in this or not?
I've got pretty sensitive ears due to too much noise-rock-exploitation. I didn't play the LunaGame-series because I knew it included heavy screamers (which, seriously, would have fucked my ears) - watching the let's plays on yt sort of proved to me I was well off not playing them.
So yeah, just tell me if I can indulge without breaking my eardrums.

There are two loud sounds in the game: a dramatic sound when you turn and see SM nearby, and the static sound when it reaches a high level (which it does when SM catches you as well). No actual 'screams', but the static practically counts as that, and the dramatic sound is sudden but not high-pitched.

It's got a nice atmosphere and I'm glad it doesn't have a HUD. I remember when you posted the concept for this a few months back, glad to see how it turned out.

I do think the walking speed could use a little boost. Not enough to make sprint unnecessary, it just felt unnaturally slow.

I haven't finished it yet, I got the 6th page before he teleported up behind me.

No, definitely nothing like Luna Game or any screamer aspects. The "dramatic sound" the creator is talking about isn't incredibly loud. There is ambiance in the background you can use as reference, if you have that on low volume you should be fine.

I saw your Let's Play, it kind of recorded weird. Did the game itself run smoothly, or was that just the recording software being weird?

It recorded weird. XSpilt is meant is meant for livestreaming but I used it for local recording. I had good fps and there was no graphical glitches in game.

Okay, I believe I figured out what's causing the lag for some people at the beginning of the game. A couple of the textures I was using were actually some sort of procedurally generated thing instead of a normal texture. I noticed when I first started using the texture that there was suddenly a few seconds (only about 3 or 4) of lag at the beginning of the game before it started, but I dismissed it and didn't make the connection with the textures I had just imported. Then when people started talking about startup lag, I took more notice of it but still didn't remember the additional textures until recently. I took them out and replaced them with normal textures, and the few seconds of startup lag on my computer was gone, so I expect the long lag some people are getting should be gone too. Uploading a new version, will edit this post when it is ready.

*EDIT* Okay, updated first post. Besides the texture fix, I also slightly modified flashlight mechanics, and I also slightly increased walk/run speed (but increased SM's speed as well to compensate). More details in the readme.

As much as i love this, the one thing that still bugs me is the ridiculous looking slenderman. no offense, but... he looks like gumby

honestly, that's the only thing i find wrong with this game. If the main antagonist is one sole entity, you'd expect him to be really frightening- look at Ao Oni, or the Grunts in Amnesia. I know that you aren't any Blender picasso, but still.

SM is hard to really make look frightening as a 3D model. It's also hard to pin down measurements for him. I think if there's one major flaw with the model, it's the shoulders, which look a bit too large and wide. If they were drawn in a bit, he would probably appear more 'slender'.

I'm also giving thought to adding tentacles... but not ones that are always present. Something like, as the static builds up from seeing him, the tentacles sprout from his back and grow larger in proportion to the amount of static. Anyway, it's just a thought, and I'd need animated tentacles before I could ever attempt that anyway.

The video will be posted tomorrow.

So far I've played this twice, and it's scared the ever loving crap out of me. I agree that Slendy could look a little better, but this is in the beta stage anyway. And it's the buildup that does it for me anyway! Great graphics too!

I'm taking people's advice and getting the SM model modified for the next version. Where I was against having tentacles before, I thought of a way I can make it work...
