[META] San Francisco Combat Training Exercise Coordination

This thread should serve as Coordination for the San Fransico Combat training exercise.

Best of luck to all who attend!

Well, I'm going! Very Happy

My plane comes in around 3, and I'm looking up bus schedules right now. If anyone's got ideas for where I can hang out until my flight leaves at 6 AM, I'd be pretty grateful. I'm hoping for a post-exercise bee party of sorts... Very Happy

Also, if anyone wants to, um, contribute to my Bee Travel Fund, let me know, because I think I have like $20 to my name until I get paid on Friday Shocked

Is there anyone else considering driving up from the los angeles area? I'm trying to decide if it's worth using a vacation day to go up and come back the same day. Smile

I would like to go along with someone who wants to car pool from LA area. I can't drive because I have a vision problem.

Think there's room for an alien? I have meetings north of SF that weekend, arriving in Oakland early enough on Thursday to actually do this although it adds much complication to the trip overall and would require me to skip a business-related wine tasting (yeah, right Very Happy ). Although I would hate to block out a real combatant from the exercise... Well, I have to think about it.

i just sent an email to dana's account. hopefully i'm not too late? hopefully my roommate (Lt. Cmdr Savage Ace) and i will be able to make it.

if you can get to them, the BART stations are really convienent, since it seems like the spot is close to the metreon, which is only a few blocks away from one of the stops.

Priceline Info

You can get really decent hotels in SF for about $35/night on Priceline. especially around the airport. 10 bucks for tax and fees. Approximately 13 bucks a night for parking on top of that.

But that is for a nice Mariott/Hyatt/Other similar places.

I sent an email a few hours ago. Do you think we will get a reply if we are confirmed on the list?

Also, does anybody know the building that we are going to? Will it be marked? Will we have to say anything? Here are a few maps if you don't have them already.

And on the hotel front: There are a lot of cheap places to stay in Daly City as well. I used to live there, now I'm on Haight/Ash in SF, but the hotels in Daly City are cheap and a 15min BART ride from downtown SF.

G3K,
If you are flying into SFO, you can take BART directly from the airport to Montgomery Street Station (a couple of blocks from 4th and Mission).

I assume (and hope) we will be told exactly where it will be before Nov. 4. The Metreon? The Marriott? The ice skating rink? Wink

I will be at the ice skating rink down there this Thursday night to watch my niece in a competition. If I see anything that looks promising, or somewhere to ask information about upcoming events, I will, and I'll pass it along to all of you.

How could i NOT attend? :D Just a question of how best to get there from the South Bay: should I drive to somewhere that I could get on BART and be closer to the Metreon, or should I drive to a Caltrain station and walk up from the King Street stop? How could I NOT think about starting from my beloved Caltrain station in Palo Alto where I attended my first (and last?) axon ringing?

The SF location is actually three blocks from my school. ^_^ Besides, I have no class that day! Wahoo!

I can provide transportation to some of the members of the Aggie Advanced Research Center, so long as I know a few days in advance.

I can imagine how this one's going to go over at work:

"So, you're off the 9th so you can play Halo 2 all day while we work."

'Yep.'

"And now you need to get off work early on the 4th because you're driving up to San Fransisco possibly getting to play Halo 2 five days early."

'Yep.'

"I hate you."

I am hoping SO HARD that I replied soon enough. I was asleep all afternoon, and didn't get around to checking ILB until around midnight, which was right around the time we had a crisis emerge at work.

But Thursday is my night off and this would be so perfect!
