Email from Zea

At least we know that two locations are involved not one.

Dearest Seadevil,

I am not so much a fan of "romance" in the Hollywood sense, but I rather like the Romantic writers, who all seem to bit off their rockers.

The house Leo is referring to is in Pennsylvania, not here, and it's where I lived with my husband and children before I came here.

As to where I am, and what I'm doing here, I can't really say, but it will probably become more clear later on.

More later, I am tired today.

Your Friend,
Z

Dearest Zella,

The situation with my husband and children is complicated, and that's really all I can say. You could say that we are still married, I guess. We are certainly not divorced. Children usually do not come here but K says an exception can be made and they might be brought here for a visit, to help with my decision.

I tried "Mary" in the lock (Shelley's wife, what a tragic figure she was) to no avail.

I keep thinking it must have something to do with the jumble of letters in the Wordworth poem. I keep musing over that but haven't figured it out yet.

I will talk to you soon!

Your most sincere friend,
Z

I say this a lot (I mean I think I actually would of gone and fought to get a character from another game out of his prison) but I'm getting quite attached to Zea haha! She's lovely.

Anyway we are obviously being directed back to Wordworth's poem. So I am going to look over it. HOWEVER! and welcome back to 'Zella's i got a feeling and a hunch' show'

but I got a feeling...

The way she mentions how her children are with their father, how children dont 'come out here' I have a feel that Zea is in some kind of hospital (weather it be for physical or mental reasons) Now this wouldnt be interesting would it.

However...

Part of the Shelley Manor is a medical center... albeit parts are luxury flats and a theater... looking up Shelley Manor though turns a couple of medical centers and hospitals.

I dont know, as usual I could be way off track.
But i found it interesting.

Not sure if it matters, or if it's been mentioned...but it appears P. Shelley authored a poem entitled "To Wordsworth", possibly upon Wordsworth's death... http://www.online-literature.com/shelley_percy/679/

Poet of Nature, thou hast wept to know
That things depart which never may return:
Childhood and youth, friendship, and love's first glow,
Have fled like sweet dreams, leaving thee to mourn.
These common woes I feel. One loss is mine
Which thou too feel'st, yet I alone deplore.
Thou wert as a lone star whose light did shine
On some frail bark in winter's midnight roar:
Thou hast like to a rock-built refuge stood
Above the blind and battling multitude:
In honoured poverty thy voice did weave
Songs consecrate to truth and liberty.
Deserting these, thou leavest me to grieve,
Thus having been, that thou shouldst cease to be.

So I kinda got snuffed on my first email....I emailed again to see if I could squeeze in here if I do have the time.

I sent in a few of my own thoughts probably nothing nobody else thought of so I won't include them here.

While all the research and stuff you guys are doing into various people and poems and stuff is really cool and interesting, I think we are over-complicating it.

Not only have we been given ciphertext and a key, but we've also been told on multiple occasion to focus on that code alone - no outside research or crazy connections required. We've also been told that the combination for the lock is directly related to the code, so I think we should stop getting ahead of ourselves and guessing random 4 letter words.

Now, Zea refers to the code as "the jumble of letters in the Wordsworth poem." I can't see what that would be besides "TERTITHSEN" or "ERTITHSEN."

The fact that there was a confederate flag in the attic led me to research confederate codes. There was one, but I think it was just a Vigenere cipher. That would fit with the fact that there is a key, but I just get gibberish if I try it...

I haven't actually contacted or been contacted by Zea, but I think now would be a good time to send her an email...

ERTITHSEN

I'm just thinking out loud here, but sleeping flowers was underlined in the original text. Mulling over the poem I thought maybe LILY would be the code. However in the poem the list of flowers are as follows: "Daisy, Leontodon, Iris, Sir, Aster, Anemone, Bell, Batschia, Daffodil, Rhodera, Epigea."

So time for crazy thoughts: remove all leading letters from the cipher and we get T, H, N, T, and E, which doesn't really help. Doing the opposite leaves us with R, E, S, I which I interpreted earlier as Tenth Rise or Tenth Sire, but a third option, IRES, perhaps an intentional mispelling of iris, catches my attention. I'm thinking it might stand for something, these letters.

Take out the letters from the flower list and you're left with Anemone, Bell, Daisy, Daffodil, And Batschia. Perhaps BELL might be it.

while i have no doubt that we are over complecating things. I do not think any of us are just randomly guessing four letter words.

however when i think of four letters, flowers and romance
I personaly think 'rose'

but i dont think rose has any kind of link to thirteens

Posting for Cherrytree

PM from Cherrytree:

Quote:
As the title says whenever I try to reply to the thread it leads me to the index. Hopefully it'll get fixed before you read this and I'll post. If so you can ignore this.

Anyways I was thinking about Thirteens and Shelley. While looking at the Wiki page I happened to glance down at the list of published poems, and I noticed a poem pubished in 1813.

The reason I specifically mention this is because said in term of year it would be the eighteen-thirteens. (I find this to be a nice logic chain)

The poem is called Queen Mab as has already been talked about in the thread. The main subject is about revolution which may link to the confederate flag also.

There are two main characters. The fairy Mab of course and Ianthe. The only big difference is that it's Ianthe's soul.

So I emailed SOUL as a possible answer as it seems fitting. I'm still reading the poem currently so there might be something else later on, but I decided to share this idea in case someone can come up with something else on it.

Seems I have to use IE for the moment to post.

Awh. Your going to make me blush. In all seriousness it was mostly luck that I saw the poem and the publish date.

I"m still trying to digest the poem (It's a big one) Here's a link for those interested: http://www.bartleby.com/139/shel111.html

Besides Soul nothing else strikes me as a good answer. (Plenty of four letter locations)

Just in case I also explained my logic so I'm hoping for some crumbs telling me if I found the right poem or not if the word doesn't work out.

I offered up "mzmz" being the 13th and 26th letters of the alphabet.

I also asked to confirm if the tumblers each had a full 26 letters each since the vintage example in the photo can only have space for 10-12 letters per tumbler.

I think maybe using numbers for letters is a pretty good idea.
I'm going to keep looking for any interesting numbers.

WTG Amandel!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
@amandel77 @imzea Hope the storm has passed, Zea. The letters ERTITHSEN are an anagram for 'enter this'. Have you tried THIS with the combination lock?

@imzea @amandel77 Tried "this." IT WORKED! You are a genius for figuring it out! I will write up the contents of the box on the blog. THANK YOU!
