There are no scripted events. SM moves according to a few simple rules, but is otherwise random. It IS possible to get all 8 pages, but you have to be smart. Sprint only when necessary, use terrain to your advantage, and watch your back (too often I see people refuse to look behind them, so they get captured from behind).

You know the odd thing is that I was gonna say that it's sometimes important NOT to look behind you. I was playing this morning and had gotten five pages with no sign of ol' Slendy. I just knew that he was walking behind me - and no sooner did I check than I saw him zooming up on me. Up until that time though, not even a blip of static.

Also, thanks for putting in the change of footfalls in the complex - I know that was one version back, but still.

also, KT: something like that totally happened to me. The bathhouse/complex is almost invariably the first place I look for pages just 'cause I don't want to get caught in that damned building once the stakes get higher.

I'm guessing that the page placement is also random? Either that, or I'm encountering horrifying bugs... lol.

10 landmarks, 8 pages, so two landmarks will not have pages. There are also (on 0.9.3) 4 possible spawn points for the pages at each landmark.

Haven't tried this lately, the best of done is still one short of the final page. Guess I'll check out the newer version. And I'm making a sort of map to keep track of where I haven't been this time.

I admit this was probably the biggest mistake I made at first. I was thinking the less I turned about it would give him less chances to teleport toward me, but after about 5/6 pages he's fast enough that it's probably to your advantage to check behind you anyway.

I'll say it again, the randomization really creates a lot of great potential scares! Well done.

the file was taken down for violation of the terms of service, or at least thats what the link for the windows version told me. the mac liink still seems to be up. how did it violate the terms of service, parsec? did they give any reason for it being taken down past violation of terms and service? also, will you be reuploading it somewhere else, or trying mediafire again, of at all?

I'm reuploading somewhere else, and updating to v0.9.4 while I'm at it. The new SM model still isn't completed, but at least I'll get a working version for people.

Is this the update that's supposed to fix the framerate issues?

Static doesn't render as much as it did before, it seems.

I didn't touch that part of the code, it should still be the same...

Just played the latest version today, and it was fantastic. I got to 5/8 pages on my first run before Slender Man grabbed me from behind. Once or twice the whole screen had a sudden burst of loud static that made me jump, I applaud you for that.

If you wanted to change and make the tentacles render sooner and more noticeable, that would work as well, I feel like the only reason I saw them was because I was looking, but I could be wrong. Excellent work, sir.

Just played the 0.9.4 version. Before that, the only version I've played was the 0.9.1 and I find some new additions pretty annoying and unrealistic:
–The first one is the fog and other elements that made the environment darker. In my opinion, it's ridiculous especially that, in real life, your eyes get used to the night environment and actually see something (everything's still dark but you can look around and see stuff, especially on an open night like in the game). Maybe the 0.9.1 proved to be too lit to be realistic but the current on proves to be too dark. I'm getting less scared when I bump at him with the flashlight off because I can't see much (of course, in an actual situation, it would be the exact opposite but I believe it still wasn't well performed in this version).
–the second is the flashlight going down. It's really unrealistic that, when jogging, the flashlight is pointing down, especially with the new darker environments I just mentioned (since everything's harder to see) and the flashlight becomes only useful for walking.
–finally, when he caught me from behind in one of my playthroughs, after my 6th page, instead of the camera turning quickly and jumping at him, it turned slowly which made it less scary.

My suggestions for the next update would be: brighter environment (brighter than in 0.9.4 but darker than the one from 0.9.1), if this is possible; also, the ability for the flashlight to point forward when jogging. It's actually cool to see it pointing down when sprinting (after knowing that Slender Man is close) to ressemble an actual scary situation, but not when jogging. Maybe put an option to automatically quit as well; the game quitting instantly after losing would add to that tension you were having while you were running away from him. If we would ever want to "Try again", we would just load the app once again.

I also noted a huge framerate drop in comparison to the other one. I had to drop the graphical selection from beautiful to good. It isn't cool but doesn't stop me from playing the game.
Otherwise, the other updates were nice and I'll also be waiting for that new
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
and better tentacle rendering from Slender Man
.
