Lack of interest in the player.

Hey guys, right now I'm playing an ARG that has omething to do with the manga and anime "Monster" not all the plot elements are the same, just some familiar settings and names. In fact we could use the help on some piecing together some clues over here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35664

Here's my problem, I'm fairly new to the ARG scene. But, the runner of this game shows no interest in letting us do much. We know we're supposed to be doing things and we're working with what we have, but it doesn't help that an NPC started most of the action and left ME at the very least wondering what happened, and why I couldn't do more to help it along instead of just watching... Any ideas as to why the runner of this game is doing this? It's still interesting to be a part of, I just want to do more, I feel restricted by this game.

Depending on what the developer of the game is looking for, you will get varying degrees of interactivity and action. It can also depend a lot on the budget for the project.

Some are just looking for a teaser to get you interested in the product and never intend to take it farther than that. Some are just presenting a story and don't intend for you the player/participant to do much more than find the bits of the story and then put them together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Not every arg will be expansive and have lots for the players to do.
