So what "lies" do these documents uncover? Because they don't seem to be as vital and revealing as they were made to seem, and the fact that Jay can't make any connection doesn't help.

This late in the game they know what they're doing, even if we're still early on in the season it shouldn't be dragging on like this. And we learned nothing that we didn't know before other than that tim was found at rosswood one day as a kid (which doesn't really reveal anything new either)

I apologize for dragging out the pravado wars, but I just need to point out something you did in this paragraph.

You said "they know what they're doing" and then immediately turned around and told them what they should be doing.

Really?

I am completely, perfectly, blessedly fine with critiquing individual entries. That's part of the fun of being a fan of any series. But you need to give Troy, Joseph, and the gang the benefit of the doubt. If you trust them to know what they're doing, then trust them! Just chill, dude. This is a great series. Have fun with it! If you don't like a particular entry, NOTHING BAD HAS HAPPENED TO YOU except a few lost minutes. Whoop de doo.

I kind of like the slow pace. I like getting little scraps of information more than big reveals: it lets us get to find more things out for ourselves. We get to do more of the thinking and detective work, and then when the big reveals start coming, we'll be that much more surprised- or that much more gratified.

No, but new people don't know about the twitter or the TotheArk videos. I didn't find out about the TotheArk videos until I had already marathoned the first 45 entries. I didn't go back and watch them until I was done with the rest of the entries to that point, which was 51.

It's like asking someone watching a TV show, they show reference an important document, but never tell you about it. Then you find out weeks later that in order to find out what it was they were referencing, you had to go to a site barely related to the show just to see the document. That's stupid in that scenario, and stupid in regards to MH.

That shit might work for other ARGs, but as we've pointed out before, MH isn't really an ARG. Only the supplemental stuff like TotheArk or twitter can be considered ARG-esque, and that's stretching it since we don't have any influence on the story at all.

jay mentions totheark in one of the earlier entries, any rational person would go do a google search for it and see what it is. new people can deal with it, they're not the ones that they should be catering to, the ppl keeping up with it for 3 years are

When did we ever say I was rational? Bite me. It was a new obsession and I watched as many entries in one night as I could Razz I didn't think I was missing anything even when I did go back and watch the TotheArk videos.

But seriously, it would be downright bullshit to change precedent now and start making viewers have to scour the friggin internet for the next bit of information that is important to the plot. And yes, those documents were important to the plot because we spent an entire entry chasing down what Hoody wanted us to see, and those documents were it. Like it or not, the documents had to be explained in more detail. You don't introduce something that could be friggin huge(even if it didn't turn out to be the holy grail) and then just not fucking mention it ever again. That's stupid; and shitty writing.

I haven't read the entire thread, but is it just me or is the next step finding Janet? After all, she committed her son. I'll bet she has some idea what he was dealing with.

Finally, somebody brought this up. Entirely possible, it might as well happen.

Maybe people should start tweeting Jay to go ahead and do this.

"Hey Tim, It's Jay. I called your mom and she said you haven't called her in a while, so you should probably do that. Oh and no hard feelings about punching me in the face because I found your medical records and now I understand your condition a bit more. Childhood is rough especially when you're seeing things. I know I would be scared. Well, call me back so we can team up."

I might have missed something; is Janet Tim's mother?

Correct.

Jay has to get into contact with someone to advance the plot, whether it be Tim, his mom, Alex, or TTA.

Well yeah. But he already uploaded a video of him rifling through the records. I say if he's gonna throw morality and caution to the wind, go whole hog. Cool

Besides, he can be Mr. Detective and possibly talk to Tim's mom without letting Tim know right away. Razz

EDIT: Also, just for the sake of argument, let's look at things from Jay's perspective. He's spent three years under constant psychological and physical stress (exhaustion, for example) and has all this time had to deal with his friends either disappearing, betraying him, turning to the dark side, or otherwise socking him in the face, figuratively and literally. And all Jay's been trying to do all this time is help others (why he went looking for Alex, why he's looking for Jessica) and get some answers as to why all this is happening. Meanwhile, Totheark is playing some messed up mind games, Tim's refusing to help and physically assaulting him, and Jay's being chased down by a faceless dude who cuts a disturbing figure in a tuxedo. Dude's a total Woobie.

So I say, let's give him moral free reign. (A)

Bit late to this one, but...
Can't say I do. Would anyone care to clarify what they said about it please?

There's a quote from the Season 1 DVD commentary where they mention that they wanted to make The Operator a physical threat but couldn't figure out how to do it.

I dunno, I feel like Tim is going to be calling Jay soon enough. I'm surprised he didn't get in touch with Jay before 60.5, he had to have known what Jay was going to do with those papers.

I'm thinking that Tim is going to have to team up with Jay, maybe because OP pays him a visit or even Hoody could leave him a message. As far as what lies the papers could reveal, I like the idea that someone brought up that the vital pieces of information are in the places that are blacked out. I agree that Jay should try to contact Tim's mother and ask for more information, and I think we could be building up to something really huge. I found it interesting that we never see Jay's face in the video, instead we have the drawn on face on the folder. Yeah, he didn't need to film his face but I wonder if that was a subtle clue that he's masked himself.

If he was masked, you would have heard it. If it was a mask similar to Tim's, his voice would have been extremely muffled, and his breathing would be audible(i have a mask like Tim's, so I know.) Even if it was a cloth mask like hoodie's, it would still be slightly muffled.
