Yeah, I agree with the bruce . The "training exercise" will most likely be Halo 2 multiplayer and when Melissa leaves we will need to hone our skills in this wonderful simulator.
An alternative WILD SPEC - we are being trained to play Halo2, not because it is further training on a simulator, but because it will be an actual contribution to the war effort. Maybe we will be left with the information that a connection to the future has been maintained and the Master Chief on our screens is representation of actual live events in the fugure. Our connection(s) allow us to influence events in the future as they happen. If we win they win!

well, I meant, preparation for November 9th, when she's no longer with us, so we can stand on our own to accomplish the mission... not just the 4th...

So here's my spec on the Sunday broadcast.
We'll have a live, streaming audio feed from all the chatters of our characters as they enter Chawla Base, (hopefully) disable the artifact, and then escape.
This will be the grand finale of the ilovebees ARG, and our transition to the beginning of Halo 2!

I like that spec. Wouldn't it be sweet if there were multiple streams, with each stream corresponding to a different chatter?

why the age limit?????
does halo in usa have an age certificate?
if not, why exclude all the kids who have been "gee I skipped class today to answer an axon*, then I met the fonze, had tea with screech from saved by the bell and slept with the two aunts from sabrina the teenage witch"
* may have been me watching to much tv
does the age 17 hold any major american significance?
Cinema?
Drinking? (i know states differ)
Incest?
etc

That'd be hard, seeing as there are so many of us, unless it's all one big relay, and we're all needed.
I just hope it isn't for cell-phone crew only. I'd HATE that.

The game is rated Mature here. Which translates to 17+

Story spec:
Melissa is learning how to commandeer one of the worlds prominent deep space antennas, say one of the ones in the array in california?
she either:
1. Figures out how to rip another hole in time, and transmits immediately back home (unlikely)
or
2. Transmits herself along a given vector, knowing that she will be on an intercept course for some far away space station or ship in 2552, and in effect takes the "long way home" by transmitting into space alone and waiting it out on the journey.
I vote number 2.

Heres my wild and crazy spec: It's going to be a Shakespearian tragedy. Jersey, Jan, Rani and Kamal all die, AFTER successfully triggering the artifact. Durga is captured and destroyed cause she's due. And, their triggering the artifact just draws the Covenant to Earth.
I hope this doesn't happen, cause it would suck, a lot. But, that's the worst of all possibilities.

Interesting SPEC, but I don't think so.
[META] Remember this is a marketing campaign. An unsual one, yes, but a marketing campaign. They want us to be excited and happy when we go to get Halo, so I don't think they'll end the game on a downer. I think we've had our dose of tragedy.

I agree Phaedra,
I would hope that the ending will make you want to run out and pic up a copy of the game, buy an xbox, sign up for xbl and get in there and FIGHT!
As i am going to have to do all this to play the game, i guess that this will be my $250 bet for Bungie. make it a good ending or i stick with my PS2....
Alright, alright ill probably do it anyway at this point...but still...

I'm sure they'll miss your business...
As for the endgame scenario, I'd like to think that the mission to Chawla Base is sucessful and because of this Master Cheif is given a fighting chance to whup some covie ass and turn back the invasion.

Or get us prepped up for revenge. In the game the earth is being invaded after all. And a sunshine and lollypops ending really wouldn't mesh in with the tragedy of humanity's (possibly) last stand.

I kind of like this. Maybe Durga is Melissa from the past?
